Dees Reviewing Senior Footy Department Positions
jnrmac replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great we're doing a review. Shame we wont be reviewing the most critical coach in any meaningful way. -
The umpires are the worst people to judge the Brownlow. When the award was minted it made sense but not any more.
-
My recollection (somewhat hazy) is that Woewodin was on massive pay after his brownlow win and we were struggling with the cap. His form wasn't that great either....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
jnrmac replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like the analysis. Its clear we haven't really had a tall option other than Weed but the small fwd goal number is significantly below AFL standard. A big worry. V important that Jackson comes on... I see Fritsch in the same mould as a Bruest or a Gunston. Physically and the way he plays. Gunstons kicking has been of a very high standard for many years. Fritsch needs to model himself on these two... -
Dawson was 10x better than OMac is

We started at #17.... OK then

What happened to the "full review" we did half way through 2019 and when we shuffled the coaching deck chairs. Every role changed except Goodwins. There's only so long you can blame the assistants and the strategists and the medical staff and the fitness staff before you end up back with the guy who has failed when the finals were there for our taking in 2017 and 2020 and failed in 2019 when they blamed injuries. Goodwin even came out this year and said we "overachieved in 2018" We are the Kings of excuses. And revisionism. It makes me sick when I look at what Brisbane have been able to do in 2 short years. And even St Kilda in 1 year.
-
Luck does play a part but Goodwin's success was 1997-98 Yze's association is much more relevant and recent. The number of Clarkson apprentices that have gone on to do good things is first rate. Goodwin sadly needs a lot of babysitting and our coaching assistants to date have had a notable lack of success. So its a good move but IMO the sooner he goes the better for the MFC

Schadenfreude to my most hated club
-
He's back wearing hat for a disguise.

I think you mean Dan Butler. Martin and Saad meh.
-
5 years and everyone thinks its a bargain.....
-
Won't matter what you offer Dodoro. You could offer him the Eiffel Tower and he would want something else. He is a muppet. As for the media they know what most contracts are worth. Keep in mind, agents are pumping the media full of information to boost the worth of their player. Oh we have 3 clubs interested. 800-900k a year blah blah blah. A club then comes along and says we'll give your fine foot soldier $750k for 5 yea
-
Should be a piece of cake getting Saad. I heard that Dodumbo bloke at Essendrug is really easy to do a deal with. And our guys drive a hard bargain. Probably 3 first rounders I am guessing
-
Harmsey should have never taken number 4 Should have kept 43
-
Like Jesse Hogan?? No smiles?? Aaarggghh he's gone. Out the door..............
-
Surprised by Weid, Brayshaw and Lever Jones and Harmes missing Hibberd a good year particularly given his personal circumstances No ANB, Hunt a McDonald, Jetta, Smith
-
I think a lot here will be surprised with Viney but well done to him an outstanding year after many predicted he would throw the toys out of the pram And to Trac, May, Langdon and Oliver you are the future.
-
To paraphrase Ricky Bobby we're the 8th loser.
-
New players to clubs often do well as the heirarchy likes to congratulate themselves on their astute recruiting May and Langdon to do very well. Petraccas score involvements will rate highly as will his flexibility around the ground. Gawn, Oliver and Viney should also rate highly Salem late was good but wasn't consistent. Be very surprised if the top 5 came from outside this lot. I'll go Petracca May Langdon Gawn Oliver Viney
-
There are zero excuses this year. Virtually a full list to choose from all year.
-
Fritsch is a real talent but excrutiatingly frustrating with his kicking for goal. He appears to be so casual as if 'what the heck I'll just bang this up there' His tackling needs a lot of work as well. To me he never tackles with intent. Not everyone can be a Viney but even Spargo who is small, when he tackles shows real intent to stop the player.

I guess the good news is rivers is still eligible next year... Unless we make finals this year
