Agree with this. A great guy apparently and I wish him well but the fact he stayed for so long at this club when it was clear to most that he had substantial limitations as a footballer is beyond belief. Not one outstanding attribute that you could hang your hat on. He was picked because he was virtually our only tall defensive option. It's not Oscar's fault but the fact the club persisted with him for so long is embarrassing. Those that defended him to the death can start wiping the egg off their faces now.

Exactly what a rumour thread is for!

An extraordinarily tough year personally losing his brother and yet he played his best season for some time. He was back to the Hibbo we know and love.
-
Never saw close to the best of? I saw him kick 9 goals straight at the SCG. I'd say that was close to his best.

Outstanding year. Everything we could hope for. Doesn't get sucked into the contests on the skinny side. Pivotal in stopping a lot of switch plays.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
jnrmac replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't believe we took Brown and not Daniher. This club can't do anything right....... ? -
Nathan's advice to Prime Minister Scott Morrison after ScoMo took his family on a holiday during the bushfires. What a rolled gold hypocrite. But hardly surprising. How does it feel Nathan to be hoist on your own petard....?
-
So same as every year then? ?
-
How would you know? They both bever played.

I think the former. Average of the 22 picked each week

Great stuff well done.

From https://www.statsinsider.com.au/afl/charting-the-afl-premiership-clock-how-far-is-your-club-from-its-next-flag Bottom right quadrant is bad, too old and not scoring enough. Top right is good, mature age high scoring. Bottom left is rebuilding younger teams Melbourne it would seem just need to kick more goals, shock horror. GC are interesting. Very young with a % above 100. Last 10 premiership teams in the lighter colors. I could get to like Ben Brown.

Outstanding GawnDog98! Can I ask what program you used to compile these?

Really? That's the first I have ever heard of that....

The only person on the administration and coaching panel that has any idea of sustained success in the past 20 yrs is Yze.

The only person on the administration and coaching panel that has any idea of sustained success in the past 20 yrs is Yze. We continue to pick 1st time coaches, assistants and assorted admin staff that don't know what success looks like. Is it any wonder we flounder as a middle rate - and that's being generous - team?

Rendell was spot on with Salem. Good player but doesn't run with the ball enough nor using his penetrating kick enough. Gotta stop those dinky 15m passes every time.

The truth

I though 'standards' were set in 2015 and 2016 and 2017 and 2018 and 2019 and 2020...... This administration and coaching panel have failed to deliver again. It's not the list, we're going nowhere with them in charge.

Can play and could be a very useful player. I notice that he gets crunched a lot. Not sure if his peripheral vision is no good or whether he is just fearless but he won't last too long unless he learns how to protect himself.

May makes an excellent forward

I was told that he was a big hitter that would be able to get the Yarra Park redevelopment through vs Mahoney that was not so experienced in the corporate world. Not sure if there is any validity to that but it fits.

Do the same thing with the same people and get the same result. 2021 will be a long year.

These things are championed by the CEO. This was all down to Pert. I know. He sought and received board approval but it was his cause. I don't rate him at all and was shocked we: a) chased him and, b) went outside our guidelines/process to get him.
