  1. Maybe Frawley is doing a speech? And then disappear in a cloud of smoke
  2. 1. N. Jones 2. Tyson 3. Dunn 4. McDonald 5. Jetta 6. Howe 7. Vince 8. Cross 9. Viney 10. Frawley 11. Watts 12. Jamar 13. Pedersen 14. M.Jones 15. Bail 16. Dawes Ok that's as far as I can legitimately think but it should go something like that
  3. I'm a bit split. Melbourne V Brisbane was a real worry. Our lack of effort offensively in the final quarter was appalling, once we were a goal or two down no one went forward with any urgency. It was a problem in most games where we were close, although our final play against Essendon was the exception to this
  4. Seriously? He lacks instinct to get off the mark, run and kick long. He rarely ever 'creates' when he has the ball. Every game you hear fans yelling at Jack to kick it, he's one of our slowest players to use the ball when in space. Of course, when there's an obvious target he hits them between the eyes, and he's probably the best set shot at the club, but he has very little dare
  5. It's so ridiculous, why couldn't Richmond just produce that jumper this week and play in that? I mean the AFL told Port to produce their prison bar jumper
  6. I just saw it as risque humour, found it funny, and wasn't surprised by the media attention given it's 2014 and newspapers feed off these mass overreactions. I don't believe you can simply dress up as something (something very relevant, I commend them on the clever idea) and be condoning abuse and being insensitive to victims. But I guess that people draw these massive lines from one thing to another, usually condemning someone of any notoriety in the process is just a reflection of the modern-day instant and mass connected world we live in
  7. The ridiculous thing is that Richmond could just reverse their colours for a clash strip, a luxury that we don't have (to the stupidity of the AFL, we could wear red and not clash with anyone)
  8. D- Better than 2013 by a decent margin, but serious on-field issues remain: communication, courage and consistency. We made inroads defensively and at stoppages, but clear issues remained with disposal, forward potency and the unwillingness to take the game on. In most games, our morale seemed higher than the pitiful times of 2013, but we would rue that we didn't get 7-8 wins (though you could argue we were lucky in some of the 4 we did win), which I'm sure had we taken the game on a bit more would have occurred. There's some positional issues as well, but at least it looks like we have a midfield. 10 losses in a row was a huge letdown, as was our failure to regain a home ground advantage at the MCG
  9. Ellis over Dangerfield is really just a positional thing. Prioritising an outside mid/flanker over a legit mid who there are already plenty of in the side. Also, Ellis has exceeded expectations, came out of nowhere, therefore stood out more, whereas Dangerfield, while still having a really good season, slightly underperformed
  10. I must admit I'm not as shocked as others. Given the level of midfield talent and our team's record, I knew Jones getting in would be a bit of a stretch. He tries his guts out, is incredibly consistent, but his season hasn't been at the level of more damaging, match-winning players.
  11. Whenever Watts gets the ball, I just beg that he'll use it or run forward within 5 seconds of possessing it. Constantly gets us into trouble by standing still, backtracking or doing a pointless ball fake. He didn't really find his way this year and was played out of position
  12. As for the umpiring last Sunday, we definitely had the better of it for 2.5-3 quarters but there seemed to be a deliberate evening up and they started to pull out the shocking holding the ball interpretation to do so.
  13. Glad others have caught on to it, players have been dropping, slinging and scooping the ball out in packs all year and rarely, rarely been caught. I've seen a mild interest on it in later rounds from umpires, but still, not often enough. I reckon it's played a part in the 'rolling maul' phenomenon, the death of the proper handball
  14. It wasn't to have a go at him, just to highlight the previous opinions and assess where he's at right now.
  15. It was a disgusting display. You can't play footy like that and then let that happen in the fourth term. 1. Our disposal was garbage, but usually cries of "KICK IT" when we over handpassed often resulted in a direct, embarrassing turnover (such as Garland) 2. Players didn't work for each other, miscommunication, failure to run and lead. Terrible offensive cohesion (Riley being too slow, turning it over resulting in a direct goal instead of going over the top to Kent, Howe handballing when he should've had a shot, NATHAN JONES handballing sideways when he could've had a shot in the last quarter, Pedersen doing similar when he could've gone over the top. 3. JACK WATTS is NOT an on-baller 4. Because it's his number, I repeat, Jack Watts is NOT an on-baller. 5. We are a team of players afraid to kick goals. 6. Few highlights included our defensive spoiling and Kent's enthusiasm, although good displays from McDonald, Jetta and Howe ended up being marred a bit by poor disposal. 7. Blease- WTF? 8. I wonder if Paul Roos was worried about the scoreboard. 9. Why do we always have to kick over the mark? 10. As far as I can see, we have an attitude problem. It's really not just a few players. That includes Jones, who is winning the hard footy, but constantly looking backwards to facilitate others and not backing himself. We need more from him. But that sort of mindset is an epidemic in the whole team.
  16. The popularity of footy hasn't grown at the same rate
  17. Out- Terlich (sorry, try again), The Dom Barry experiment, Gawn (I love the guy, but only play him if he's in exceptional form, taking marks and getting the ball) In- Jetta (reinvigorated) , JKH (Hopefully with plenty of zip and defensive pressure), Blease (I just wanna see him run again) Although a team with many speedsters might not be our focus, Geelong have plenty of the similar sort, let's fight fire with fire on a wet MCG
  18. Don't worry guys, all problems will be solved once physical goalposts are abolished and replaced by hologram ones.
  19. I reckon if he gets another game you will remember...just how bad he is. Last year when he kicked 6 in the VFL everyone was asking why he wasn't in the side, and then he came in and gave us next to nothing. Only worth having him to smash some players around, but the way the game's adjudicated these days, it might not even be worth it
  20. Ok, fair point. But there was a noticeable drop off in that last week, as well as the past couple of games
  21. Our defensive pressure is usually pretty good, but we really struggle in containing teams through the corridor. Our stagnant play is killing us, we need players running hard-and quickly for leads all over the ground, we can't just settle for stoppages and 50 50s when our best clearance winners turn it over regularly. Watts needs to work harder to get in the right positions and facilitate us through the middle, he needs space.
  22. He's a solid contributor, pretty quick. His kicking used to be woeful, it's improved a fair bit. McDonald isn't really a problem, it's a difficult time for our defence, Garland hasn't been great, Questions over Frawley, Grimes is struggling, Terlich too, is Howe comfortable down there? Only real standouts in recent weeks have been Dunn and Jetta
