THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Je Roos Salem replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is the fact that we were involved in some program now swept under the carpet? -
This is an overreaction. For the past two years we've barely even had an offensive threat. Now we have Jesse and Jeff actually playing a role as forwards I'm not gonna complain that they're kicking behinds. Plus, give him a little leeway in his third game with a drenched ball.

Usually can't stand Riciutto but yesterday he did job at hiding his allegiance and gave some decent input. So sick of everyone on 7, the language they use, the commercialisation, attempts at being clever and witty that fail miserably. [censored] like "He joins the prestigious club of first goal with second kick" They hardly even spend 50% of the game calling it. They try and squeeze benign stories about players and making conversations with each other at every opportunity.

I can definitely see the Tigers do their big-headed panicking they did last year. We must win this. Or at least fight it out. If we get thumped this will be worse for our morale than the GWS 2nd half.

Seeing how Vince played on Dangerfield gave me renewed optimism in our aggression on-field, although I would've loved to see Viney relish in those conditions. I'd love to see someone do that every week though, not exacerbated by the personal connection Vince had. Tapscott used to be the concrete dummy who we'd play just so he could smash a bloke, but thankfully Vince has some skill too

Old chestnut - continues to divide and torment many
Je Roos Salem replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Happy for Essendon V Collingwood to continue if our anzac eve Richmond game will remain (or who knows, maybe even swap the two down the line). -
Bring in Pedo as a swingman/2nd ruck. Frost and Dawes both miss and we add a trash sub in order to give Brayshaw a full game

Where to watch interstate games in Melbourne

Didn't the funk enthusiasts complain that the 60 fans yelling at the screen was ruining the ambience?- 44 replies

Where to watch interstate games in Melbourne
Je Roos Salem replied to Melbourne Pandemonium's topic in Melbourne Demons
I recall a few years ago there was some finger food and coffee for a game, you could also get discounts there through your membership. So yes, it appears that the club has backed away but the Bentleigh Club itself still seems proud of the association- 44 replies

Where to watch interstate games in Melbourne
Je Roos Salem replied to Melbourne Pandemonium's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Bentleigh Club's great. There's a projection screen (the game looks a little blurry) in an upstairs room with rows of chairs, turnout was great yesterday. There's usually at least 30-40 people (older demographic, but there's a great spirit in the room). Then again it's the only place I've gone, so I might have to check out the Duke or wherever else a similar sized group attends- 44 replies

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Je Roos Salem replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have to play GWS at Etihad in the final round. That's embarrassing. -
The others got a chance on the back of a good win last week. Dawes came in to a winning side and was sloppy, undisciplined and detrimental to our forward line. It's partially a positional thing too. As a team we have to be bigger than playing guys based on past plaudits, look at Grimes now.
-
We pretty much relied on him the last year or two just to fill the spot in the forward line. Now with Hogan looking good, Saturday's performance proved we just don't need him anymore. He's only 26 but plays like he's 32. He's just too slow and ineffective. Should be dropped, although the corresponding game last year V Adelaide was his best (20 possessions, 3 goals and 2 brownlow votes)
-
It was frightening how much quicker and cleaner GWS were from clearances in the second half. The sad thing is I don't think we have that in us/nor do we have the resilience to fight back after a team starts exploding like GWS did. We can't afford to give it less than our all given the amount of talent we have, as Roos said. The good news is that we already have a home win under our belt. If what happened in the 2nd half keeps happening, hopefully it's just interstate. I'll take a couple of beltings on the road to see the players riding a passionate crowd at the G all season
-
I'll be blunt: I really enjoyed watching our forward line in Round 1. The inclusion of Dawes ruined this. I don't know if he's capable of being much better but I don't know what he was doing out there on Saturday, especially after the standard the 22 set in Round 1. (This also applies to Vince) Not to mention Dawes' inclusion seemed to misplace Watts who had a great game inside 50 a week earlier. I see us having better mobility and speed by building our forward line around Hogan, Watts and Garlett.
-
Our kicking is at a much better standard than last year, I know it's a different game with this sort of pressure but it's still promising. We dominated the possession for much of last preseason so the fact that we're controlling the ball is no surprise. Shame Vandenberg only has one handball after his good performance last week

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG

He's basically the concrete Matt Jones. -
Open training miscommunication - another MFC unforced error
Je Roos Salem replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
It could be just the lack of confidence to run one of these family training days due to the location and our lack of a home base. Even if we're not considering it our long-term spot, I think there should be some sort of Melbourne signage around Gosch's paddock -
I think people who expected Watts to be a hard bodied midfielder are delusional. He's not Nathan Jones. His spot isn't in the middle of the ground. He's limited in what he can do, but by no means is he worthless. He can run, take marks and kick goals. They have both been cited for their softness at times, but the comparison with Toumpas ends there. Having Watts on the field (played in the right position) is good for the team, as he can be a dangerous player. Not being able to do one thing shouldn't keep him out of the 22

Intra Club - Thursday 19 February 2015 at Casey Fields @ 3pm

This definitely seems to be the case, and it's a shame. I'd rather see something that effectively matches match intensity
