  1. Under Roos we've showed signs of flirting with more direct 50 entries rather than the slow half-back, a couple of short kicks and then a poor one down the line. Last two weeks we've clearly been intimidated by loose men in defence. It's all about finding space inside 50 but not vacating it completely, because when we get the ball in that situation we rarely beat the opposition back inside our arc
  2. Still think Max deserves a game, maybe 2, one as no.1 ruck and one as ruck/forward to assess where he's at as was the case last season, he may not be knocking the door down in the VFL but with our ruck spot uncertain now it's probably worth it if Max is to be considered in future plans
  3. Doesn't even need to be a great kick, if it goes near him he's a good chance
  4. They let Pods go though. Must admit, Blicavs was brilliant v Collingwood but I still think he kicks it like a guy who's relatively new to the game
  5. Matt Suckling's on the FA list right? I don't think he's at the top of his game atm, and the Hawks have great depth. If he falls out of favour slightly throughout the season I think we could give him a crack. The Suns got Malceski from Sydney last year. Also Yarran's only 24, plus there's the Garlett factor. Not a shocking idea
  6. Hate that we are missing two players so important for match ups this early in the season. Really hope Viney can continue from where he left off, which looked like a real breakout year. Could be a different situation if all 3 (Kent included) were fit
  7. Many people are blaming our midfield without being too specific. I'm just looking at some stats. Jones, Vince and Tyson are our Top 3 in clangers. They were 3 of our top 4 last year, so not sure if that's a huge revelation. Newton leads inside 50s this season with 21, Tyson and Vince only have 12 and 11 respectively. (Vince lead us last year with 3.7 PG). Vince and Tyson had 51 possessions between them for only 2 i50s V Sydney. Hogan has taken 13 marks i50, compared to Dawes' 2. Meanwhile, Jones is down to 3.3 clearances a game after averaging 6.3 last year. Our team is ranked last in both disposal efficiency and disposal average while we were ranked 4th in the AFL in D.E last year
  8. 'I disagree with you' would suffice, but whatever. I don't accept the results so I give my take on what's going wrong.
  9. If he doesn't even get the ball kicked to him then he can't be a very good leader
  10. Completely agree. I think he has a negative influence on our development. Always leads wide, fails to make an impact for 80% of the game. Sucks the life out of the team. Only pops up when the rest of the team are playing well. Seemed like Neeld gave him a free ride into the team because of his Collingwood association and now he's on good terms with Roos because he's a good trainer or whatever
  11. I don't see Morton as a massive failure like Lucas Cook, I see him as a guy who was a victim of an ideological change at the club and was unable to adjust. He was able to run, rack up possessions and kick goals in our old system but wasn't versatile enough to play different roles as the club looked at different approaches to win games (generally more defensive minded). Not sure if it says more about our development or Cale himself because he definitely looked like a star for a while, just didn't have what it took, mentally or physically to avoid being a victim of the mass exodus in those years
  12. Why does no one rate Max Gawn? He's far from a dud, just hasn't gotten enough opportunity due to his size (for playing alongside Jamar)
  13. How many mature mids is enough? I think we should work on developing with what already have in the midfielder/half back areas. Of course Trengove's prognosis is uncertain, as well as whether he'll good enough, but we have enough to work with especially when you consider Petracca. However, we should definitely throw a lot at Dylan Shiel given his age.
  14. How about Watts? He kicked 3 in Round 1 as our 2nd tall, 1 in the past 5 games. Yet Dawes has only kicked 3 in 4 games as the 2nd forward
  15. Definitely. I'd say he's been our best mature recruit of the past few years. He's a very professional footballer
  16. Do we have an alcohol ban? We need to start dropping some players
  17. Thought he was going to have his first bad game, but then he got involved on the wing and monstered forward. I'm confident he will kick 5 in the next few weeks.
  18. I said to my brother after last night's game that you can predict a similar result to the Sydney game, except add 20 points to our score and 30 to the opposition's.
  19. Hmm, seems everyone has their chips on a star midfielder. If we could find someone else who can (or at least WANTS to) kick goals, that'd be good
  20. If only he could kick the simple ones! Still a long way to go in the season but it seems we now have 2 reliable goal kickers after having none in 2014. Hopefully him and Jesse can both kick around 40. Last time we really had a goal kicker was Clark's half 2012 season
  21. What's the point when we don't give ourselves a chance from the beginning? You can sugar coat a 30-minute period as much as you want, but no supporter base deserves a first 2.5 quarters like we saw. I Disagree with most of the optimism to come from the game. We have to run, carry and have a proper forward set up from the beginning. There's no way we can out grind teams like Freo and Sydney, they're just too talented
  22. I'd keep the 50 to Hogan, Watts, Garlett, maybe Howe. Kent when he comes back. Maybe bring Fitzy in as a 2nd ruck/swingman. Dawes did just enough in the last to keep his spot, I'll admit, but I think he's mostly detrimental to us though he seems to be on Roos' good side
