  1. Great logic by GWS, we have one reliable star goalkicker-let's make him a defender. The saddest thing about GWS is not how favoured they are by the AFL or their non-existent fan support, it's how much talent they're getting that's basically going down the drain because they have no idea how to play as a team. The whole "club" makes me pretty sick
  2. I've never really thought about how number placings could be strategic to match people next to each other in locker rooms. Anyway, thanks for posting this even though it reminded me that Pedersen and Brynes are still on our list. Sometimes the MFC website is a bit of a hassle. Hope Salem is 3 too.
  3. They clearly are wasting a lot of time on this, every club has had significant jumper changes in the past couple of years
  4. Common sense, perhaps a presentation with comparison pictures to show that we don't need a white jumper? If our club has the bravado. The two predominantly red teams, Gold Coast and Sydney, we wear our home jumper+shorts against anyway. It's mad. And a red jumper would look a lot more attractive against teams like st.kilda or essendon, the AFL cares about the TV spectacle. Enough of some scrappy vandalisation of our home jumper where someone's coloured in 70% of it white. Better than that grey thing it may be, it looks daggy. There's way too many white jumpers in the AFL anyway, most of them look amateurish too
  5. If everyone involved continues to be stupid, then yes, it is going to be white.
  6. My automatic answer for the last 7 years would've been Sylvia. But..on a serious note. I'd like Blease to star, predominantly as a small forward kicking 30-40 goals. I'd love to see Toumpas get over his unmemorable first year and start kicking goals. I know Frawley was pretty good for most of this year, but I'd like to see him start being talked about as one of the best 5 defenders in the league which he should be by now. Michael Evans too, his first game promised so much as did some of his footy before his injury this year. Jordie Mckenzie too, he showed real promise with his performance on Ablett and i'd love to see him doing something similar each week. Ripping it up is one thing, but I'd just like to see Mitch Clark out there for 22 games
  7. I agree with the height thing, surprising to see him listed as high as 185 when Paul Roos looks a fair deal taller next to him as do the other top 10 draftees. Looks more like 180. Still, he is good overhead and can kick goals apparently, so that's what matters
  8. Can the club look in scrapping our white guernsey for A. Red clash guernsey. B- Royal blue as our away jumper. As the oldest club in the game there shouldn't have been a need to ever introduce white into our colours. We wouldn't cause a clash with any team and it would help the clash with St.Kilda that we get with our white guernsey anyway. We should send out a ploy to the club for this to happen. I quite liked the royal blue guernsey we've worn in heritage round and it would work well against Essendon, Carlton, St.Kilda, Adelaide and Brisbane. An all red one would similarly do the trick but every time I see our players in white I cringe a little. Quite glad we scrapped that useless collar and the stars, unique they were, but annoying gimmicks that look 10x worse when we're down by 100 points
  9. That should've been the case this year though, 12/14 at the G to start
  10. I think his fall in form was due to his role changing and poor coaching. He should be taking the best midfielder each week and that job on Ablett was sensational, only annoying to watch because the commentators kept moaning that he was holding Ablett illegally at every stoppage (such rubbish bias)
  11. I agree, surely at least every second year we can be guaranteed home games against those clubs? From memory, we've played Essendon once at home since 2005. I'm thankful we're finally playing Geelong at the G, but I certainly wish we had more than 1 Saturday afternoon home game. Some pretty ugly fixtures for us (Though surprising we have 3 Saturday night FTA games early in the season).
  12. Hey, at least you've got certainty in the future of your marriage
  13. Can't we just put the AFL logo on the other side of the guernsey too
  14. Anything to help me understand why we took him
  15. Most lopsided poll ever. A better one would be- Should Grimes change back to 16 and let the 31 be put to rest? (Yes)
  16. I'd only give Grimes the midfielder about 4, but 7 as a defender. Trengove too, might be a 5-6 if he were playing in a half forward role. Jones i'd give 7.5-8, in our current midfield (bar viney) the next best would be McKenzie at 4.5. Just can't seem to give Viney a ranking on this scale yet
  17. Is the Energy Watch guy mentally stable yet?
  18. Glad with that Toumpas article saying he went at it the wrong way- given me much more respect for him and he did what more of our players should do- Identify where they do wrong. He lacked a role in the team and an attacking mindset, good skills but poor awareness, strength and average speed. Needs to either put on 10 kilos or start breaking lines and importantly kick goals.
  19. Must be weird for Mitch being the one without the camera. Hope he focuses on his development though. Needs more exposure to AFL football.
  20. Yeah, but the difference now is that the Beatles aren't in their peak.
  21. Yes but the general idea of basketball is you don't touch your man
  22. Our lack of scoring/want to score was appalling. The way we were coached we deserved that percentage. Several games under Neeld we were in damage control mode for two thirds of the game, at the MCG, alienating fans just to stop a side from scoring a few extra goals (of course, most times we couldn't). Come Round 1 next year, what i'll immediately be looking for is an attitude change over four quarters, and boy, it'll be easy to see. Did see improvement under Craig, but even our wins against the Dogs and GWS were soured by poor attitude over some of the game. The way we played in 2013 warranted 0 wins. I've seen 3 win and 4 win seasons in recent seasons with attitude improvements of at least 100% I hope Roos really emphasises making each game extremely important and that we will play a certain way and not turn the game into a training drill or a learning curve for 2 years' time. No giving up/compromising, the fans are sick of it
  23. A Geelong premiership player recruited by a Collingwood premiership assistant coach, both have done/did nothing to get us closer to a flag or even shown us what good footy means. Was a fan when we recruited him but this was one of the worst recruiting decisions ever, quickly made up my mind on him, he probably made up his mind on the team in Round 1 too, felt ashamed to call him a Melbourne player even if he got a few cheap possessions against poor sides. Didn't look like he wanted to be part of the team and almost sneered at the Melbourne jumper's pitifulness. When he kicked a goal against the Cats in Geelong he may as well have kicked one for them. Could've at least been a crumbing forward for us this year but just seemed to lurk around packs mostly around the midfield. Hope the club learns from this mistake- you can put a guy from another club in a side with all the credientials, even put him in the leadership group, but his attitude and actions on field speak the loudest. And in conclusion, I discovered Byrnes is a Geelong player, not a Melbourne player
  24. Sports that are good to watch: Footy (the best), basketball (only the NBA), some soccer and meaningful cricket matches Sports that are alright to watch: Tennis, NFL Sports that are almost unwatchable: Netball, golf, baseball, rugby, motor racing (except attending the GP was quite amazing) I've played basketball and it's certainly a tough game with hard hits, but to be honest the key difference is you guard space and wave your hands, waiting for opponents to make their move as opposed to attacking the man immediately without thinking. If that sort of mindset is in Watts' subconcious (and now I type this I can remember Watts doing this quite a lot, sounds familiar for a lot of our other players too) from his "basketball background" then that's a problem
