  1. Whoa, incredible and thought-provoking post. So tragic, I hope you left a lasting impression with that passion towards those close to you. You certainly did here on Demonland. I also have seen that video when searching Raw Comedy, well before I was aware of this thread, and thought it was terrific. Makes this more special for me. So sad for this to happen to such a great guy R.I.P
  2. Mostly enjoyable thread to read through. Though I too am a bit split minded over the importance/morality of the encounter with the 13 y.o, it's hard to deny Goodes isn't a great, hard working, community minded and kind individual, so the fact he gets an award for being a good person who does good work is ok with me. Even if he has the award was only due to the incident, the incident itself was big enough to highlight an issue and the fact Goodes was the one who pointed, for better or for worse, I think gives him a level of importance to receive this award due to the impact it had
  3. Garland is easily our most consistent defender and definitely in our top 5 players. End of story. I just hope this foot thing doesn't stretch out like Clark's has. I'm still imagining Garland will be there for Round 1 though. McDonald still has a lot of work to do in the way he plays, and you never know which Frawley you'll get
  4. I dunno, but I hope he gets a good chance this year. I went to training twice this week and he appears to be not partaking in some of the main drills, but what I have seen him do has been impressive
  5. Is Watts being ruled out as a forward this year?
  6. The Bentleigh club is also great for watching interstate foxtel games. You hear the same familiar groans you do at the G but on a much smaller and personal scale. Makes a bad loss more bearable having a bit of a laugh with other supporters
  7. It's a shame we've had such a huge turnover of players in the last 2 years. There may be a beast inside them all that Roos could've unleashed
  8. I don't go on here for the best part of a month and people are optimistic about Cam Pedersen? What's going on? Give me a rest, he should be nowhere near our best 22 if all fit
  9. Can't wait to go back to Casey next year, I just hope it's not stifling hot again like V the Saints. It's a nice atmosphere at Casey when we've played preseason games there.
  10. No offence to Robbo the nice guy and Dees champion, but the match day announcing made pre-game and the breaks almost as depressing as when the team was out there on the field. A bit over the top
  11. *Awaits newspaper cartoon of the players on floor mats with Paul Roos as some sort of spiritual entity in robes* And some quirky dialogue I can't think of at the moment
  12. Good point. I'm very surprised with the 3 early season saturday night games on 7, but it's a great opportunity for the club. Though the Essendon game in Round 2 this year was too...That reminds me of that Brisbane game in Round 5 2010. It was a foxtel saturday night game, but we were coming off 2 wins, Brisbane were undefeated, the crowd was 36-37k and we smashed them by 50 points. Atmosphere was amazing
  13. Problem is, we need better small/medium defenders. There's Dunn (inconsistent, lazy, poor decisions), Terlich (sloppy), Strauss (injury-prone, hasn't shown that much to date), Clisby (hasn't shown enough) and Grimes (poor decision making, disappointing kicking, spends too much time up the ground). We don't have a reliable run and carrier, distributor, courageous hole filler or a good small forward match up. with a fit list, I definitely fail to see how M.Jones would get a game. Terlich on the other hand probably stays in because of lack of better options, initially
  14. Exactly. Have the white jumper as a decoy to please the AFL, then don't wear it. I think the Dogs only wore their white one once this year so it's not like there's a minimum of times you have to wear a jumper. Hawthorn wore there white one once too I think. The Dogs wore their red against the Eagles and I doubt the AFL complained of a dark on dark clash. Home guernsey: 16 times (5 with away shorts V Hawthorn, Bulldogs, NM, Richmond, GWS) Red guernsey: 6 times (V St.Kilda, Carlton, Adelaide, Essendon, Port Adelaide, West Coast) White guernsey: Preseason guernsey, toilet paper, sanitary napkin, sun shield on a car, scrap material for arts and crafts, fuel for a campfire Simple.
  15. Simply put, he's an average player in a deplorable team Despite their high B&F placings, I think both Terlich and M.Jones are both overrated, it was a good story for both of them to come from state leagues and play every game, but it was more a case of that several of our other players' immaturity made them both look better, and both are quite messy players although they were both quite consistent. Terlich only really impressed me in about 2 games and apart from that I thought he was quite a liability
  16. Surely if we can beat Essendon, West Coast, Carlton and the Dogs at the G we can beat Gold Coast too? I'm pretty astonished so many people think we'll beat the Saints at Etihad.
  17. Also, Walker or Hurn sounds good, we need that sort of a player. Maybe Ibbotson too. Don't get why we'd add Waite when he'd be 31 or 32 and we already are pretty well stocked with key forwards.
  18. I too am worried about Frawley, you'd expect him to get good offers should we have another terrible season and flee off like Rivers and Sylvia. Hell, even if he just gets injured this year we don't have a good enough replacement. We may as well go for Shaun Higgins, he's pretty talented and would be a goal kicker/midfielder we need. He's had so many injuries that the Dogs are probably sick of keeping him. And even if he gets injured for us in round 1 we can still brag about him in the preseason
  19. Thanks for making me feel better and taking note of my newest screen name. Even if we made the 8 but were banished to 9th like the Bombers because of an injection program, I'd still take 9th
  20. Why don't we wear a pink away jumper next year and then when we come out still soft as butter under the sun we can blame it on that?
  21. As convincing and relentless as the off-season optimists are, i'll still be surprised if we finish higher than 16th. It's conditioned into me now
  22. I don't agree. He's had a disappointing two years but finished the season very strongly. He has poor traits, but for god's sake he's one of few players who actually knows how to beat an opponent, and our only midfielder who can. At least he can tag someone out of the game and be a decent inside midfielder. I think he was played out of position for a while but really showed something at the end of the season. I don't get the hate, he's not gonna be able to run and carry the ball and hit someone on the lead but he knows how to play a role
  23. I'm just glad it's because of a technical issue and not because of a facebook lawsuit. I guess no like button means more posts on here (albeit shorter ones) and we can look at posts more objectively. I'd like to see it return though. Maybe next week In- Like button Out- Threads entitled "The *insert obscure player we 99% likely won't end up getting* thread"
  24. Love seeing these red designs, they'd all be great. With such a mass of supporters here on Demonland, we could easily get it across to the club via Facebook or Twitter. West Coast and Brisbane have had similar supporter rallies to amend their jumpers. Also, Richmond have announced their new clash jumper next year contains more yellow and less black, and NO WHITE. We should follow in suit to a club that also mentions their colours in their theme song and stay true to them, like the Tigers have. By the way, early last year their was a sale in the MFC shop, and only the white guernsey was discounted. They don't sell because our supporters can't relate to them well enough. It could help the club financially if we had a decent away strip that was red and blue
  25. I won't have sympathy for GWS just because the AFL created them on a whim. For god's sake, they're an expansion club created in hope to brainwash a largely multicultural community of people to suddenly like footy. The fairness and fixturing of the league has become a much bigger problem with Gold Coast and themselves in the league, plus the whole Scully thing. Sorry, I do not see a legitimate comparison with them and us
