  1. Yep. Two good marks during a final quarter onslaught. Took another good mark or 2 in the Geelong win. Constantly makes a fool of himself when the game's up for grabs, and goes missing when we fall far behind.
  2. Interesting that Dawes only gets praise after wins. Plays at an acceptable level once we're in front, rest of the time he looks like he shouldn't be out there.
  3. They should've all done it! They've practiced https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU7dGU9Z66I
  4. In-Salem or Newton Out- Michie (Don't necessarily think he was poor, just as a team balance thing)
  5. I thought it was an Elvis dance or something. Either way, it riled up the Carringbush contingent. As did the mere presence of Jack Watts who did no more than dance around opponents.
  6. Maybe I'm just noticing his movement more than his disposal, but I don't mind Grimes at the moment. Definitely standing out more than he's been for the past few years, I think his instability in the 22 has given him fire in the belly. I'm starting to see belief in Garland, just needs to keep his head up and not get dispirited. Great weekend for our back 6, I'd love to see it every week though. Just have to work out how to stop the monster forwards when they rear their ugly heads
  7. I agree. White probably would've been a safer bet, and Reid was in the VFL and Goldsack withdrawn. Once McDonald got hold of Moore (in his 4th game or whatever) they were hapless. Still, I thought Pendlebury was unusually average, looked genuinely slow and got caught a couple of times. I seem to recall other clubs underestimating us in their selections
  8. I thought Dawes was fairly good in the second half, but honestly he needs to bring an intensity all the time, not just when we're in front. It's like he only joins in when others are playing well. Also, most AFL-level forwards can mark on the lead with their arms in front of them, Dawes relies on chest marks (which are a lot easier to defend). He's capable of working hard and assisting players but he still looks very limited in what he can do
  9. Watts had such freedom today. Was an actual utility, played everywhere. Showed his composure, showed his speed. He seems to try for a lot of tackles he doesn't get credit for. He definitely Out-Pendleburied Pendlebury
  10. Outstanding? pfft. I thought he was decent in the 2nd half. He miraculously held on to a pack mark on the final term
  11. 6. InVINCEable 5. Jack "of all trades" Watts 4. ....Viney 3. Neville "the devil" Jetta 2. Tom Dyson 1. Gawn with the wind
  12. Congratulations all. It's fair to say that last quarter was the biggest surprise, almost seemed to be following the script till 3QT. But the Pies were at a loss, total domination. Improvement in decision making, fantastic game from our defensive 6. Won so many crucial contests. Watts was just magnificent, made himself handy everywhere.
  13. Doesn't mean the system's any good though. You can make all the excuses you want but no one's waiting 3 years unless there's clear improvement on the way. Struggling to score 60 points in each game and having players move the ball like basket cases doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the coaching.
  14. Well put. This 'genuine attempt' nonsense as well as this new 'dangerous tackle' is a blight on the game. They've never been in the rule book, they're just buzz words being fed from the top that have a very loose definition and awful consistency. And they're so precious with them as well. 80% of them looks clueless on how to adjudicate tackles.
  15. Good gesture (Although we better play like it means something) I don't think any of our fans booed Goodes in Round 6, honestly. He only played the 2nd half though so I don't think anyone cared enough by then
  16. This is meant to be a big, professional sport and then you look at the umpiring and it tells a different story. They let bad umpires continue to make fools of themselves since they're not allowed to be scrutinised
  17. Interestingly we played all of them in 4 consecutive weeks
  18. If it were an important game next week I'm sure Riewoldt could kick 5 goals and take 15 marks. I think haven't forgotten that we traded one painful loss in 2011 for 4 even more painful and frustrating years
  19. The AFL is really a Melbourne-based league. That's pretty much killing the sport
  20. Since free agency was introduced: Hawthorn 2. Everyone else 0. (It'll only take a few more years for outrage to ensue)
  21. Should be fine. (from MCG site) GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING Great Southern Stand M1-M4 Q1-Q15 Ponsford Stand Q31-Q36 (Rows AA-MM) Olympic Stand M53-M57 Q49 (Rows K-MM) Q50-Q57
  22. Petracca: 4/1/96 - Old in his draft year, Brayshaw: 9/1/96- Old in his draft year, ANB: 9/1/96- Old in his draft year, More likely to be successful/leaders?
  23. We'll see. Force him to lay some tackles if he's gonna stay. As long as the 50's cleared out for our talented forwards.
  24. I've seen him cover the ground but he can barely impact more than one quarter...
