  1. Wasn't Roos the first to introduce Co-captains? Maybe next year he can be the first to introduce no-captain
  2. I hope he hasn't but I agree it's looking more likely.. He sat out the 2nd half due to a head knock/concussion.
  3. Give Newton a shot, I don't care if he's not a two-way runner. Just take a risk that he'll play well offensively. We didn't use to play Sam Blease and expect him to be Dane Swan, we played him because he could hit the ball at a million miles an hour and burn off opponents. (not saying Newton can do that) Nothing worse than hearing about a talented player not adhering to "standards" in a team that's bland and boring.
  4. They paid it all the time 3-4 years ago and the ONLY time I've seen it paid this year was against JKH Uncontested, double handed tap out of bounds should be deliberate I think. Saints did it a couple of times. One of the worst application of a rule has been the rushed behind rule, it was brought in to combat the Hawks and Bowden's tactic in 08, so they paid it a lot in 09-10 and that's about it. I don't see why it should be different to taking the ball out of bounds, wasn't that the intention behind that rule? Also, it makes the play near the goal line a lot more exciting.
  5. I met him in the carpark in Round 1 of 09. Knew I liked him from then on. He has as big a right to be pssed as anyone given what he's copped personally so it's great he still has time for the kids
  6. Any ill feelings among the ruck group since you took the spot?
  7. Probably because we have an "elephant in the 50" who wants their paycheck to be honoured.
  8. Not to mention he's not bad on the run either. He's been pretty good through the middle although his disposals were as untidy as they've ever been last week. He should at least be positioned inside 50 more. He's only playing 75-80% game time which suggests he's always going off rather than resting forward
  9. Until when? When people stop screaming racism in the media? That's never gonna happen
  10. To be fair Daw has only played one game this year and should be being booed for not going near the ball
  11. May have been Fitzy for some of the game (I got there after quarter time) but Reid started to look better once Fitzy left with an injury and I think got a couple of easy ones on the goal line
  12. "I can't understand why people would boo Goodes, he's a champion ect."... "So therefore it must be racism" So worse players can get booed? Worse, dark-skinned players? If none of these people can understand why Goodes is being booed then how can they also understand it being racism? I just find endless arguments flawed on this matter. It's a game, it's a pack mentality from the opposition supporters. Why not put off Goodes, why not put off anyone? Goodes' spotlight in the media is just fuel for fans to put him off his game. Ridicule? Probably. Racism? Not so much (although there's always a few racist supporters at the footy, Swans fans included). It might be a disappointing look but it's just heckling you get accompanied with a sporting contest. I wouldn't get involved, (unless he's having a shot on goal or something) but either way I can't wait until either the outrage or the booing dies down
  13. I guess we'll never know if there are any racist Sydney fans
  14. On a side note out of all the coaches in the league I like hearing Damien Hardwick the most. He's got a great temperament and always sounds interesting when interviewed
  15. I wouldn't know where to start other than Dawes. There's been a fair lot of changing around already. I thought we had the depth at the start of the year (injuries haven't helped). The way we're going now I only see a core of Viney, Jones, Vince, Brayshaw, Hogan, Watts, McDonald, Dunn, Gawn, Garlett, Jetta and Cross (many of whom have had their problems in the past few weeks though).
  16. It has little to do with our amount of wins. It has everything to do with our lack of competitiveness and hunger to win. St.Kilda didn't hold us to 46 points. We held ourselves to 46 points, and it's felt like that countless times this season. Unlike under Neeld we can now play games on our own terms but there's countless stupidity that sets us back. It shouldn't be hard to generate chances for the talent of Hogan and Garlett, rather than kicking/handpassing to 1 on 3s deep on flanks and trying to pinpoint stupid centering passes with a slippery ball
  17. You'd drop Hogan before Dawes? Bottom line is Hogan and Dawes don't work together. Games V Gold Coast and Dogs proved this too
  18. Seriously, how many list changes do we have to make before the players stop being the problem? Or is there some voodoo spirit that curses everyone who runs out in guernsey? People are paid good money to recruit, develop and train the players for endless hours during the preseason and during the weeks. The coach/coaches BUILD the team. The players aren't meant to run out without a clue, it's a full time, professional [censored] sport. The longer this goes on the players V Coaches aspect becomes ridiculous, as I pointed out after our Round 11 loss. Are people insinuating the surviving "Bailey group" are moles who are dragging everyone down? If the "message isn't getting through to the players", MAKE SURE THE MESSAGE GETS THROUGH TO THE PLAYERS. OR MAYBE THE MESSAGE ITSELF IS BS
  19. Two definite outs for mine. Dawes and Stretch. Harmes perhaps too but I've seen more from him than Stretch in the past 2 weeks. Newton/Riley/Salem/Toumpas (latter 2 if fit) and a ruck back into contention. Dawes is a waste of space on the field, he's shown he can work hard (for a while), but he's too big and gets in the way of Hogan (and McDonald when he's there) constantly, who are greater threats. We need space in the forward line. We can't get that with Hogan and Dawes there together. We can try two genuine rucks again as the only time it didn't work was in Darwin. Brayshaw's looked tired for 3 weeks so maybe sub him but I'd still like to see him.
  20. The next membership campaign has to be self-deprecating. Maybe hire a satirist like John Cleese. We can no longer sell a lie. We are not the city of Melbourne, so what we're the oldest club, who cares anymore? None of it helps the players or the fans.
  21. Roos just needs to take a think about what he's trying to achieve. We've improved (because we set the bar so low) But is this game plan worth persisting with? He's more than halfway through his tenure and are we still trying to execute his vision that sees us put up the results like the St.Kilda game or is it time to see past the horizon? Are Roos and Goodwin on the same page philosophically? The way Roos still speaks about the players it's hard to see how 2016 will be much different. I'm excited about the regeneration of our list but not if the players can't talk or kick to one another after a preseason (or two).
  22. Let's just try and move him to the Lions. Leppitsch said they're crying out for a key forward and given where they're at he might look like a bargain to them
  23. I think I'll spare the pain of watching these Roos (de)pressers
  24. One main difference is we used to have a home ground advantage then. Now when we play like crap at the G no one's surprised
