"I looked at every Club in the competition and after going through every list, Melbourne was the one that stood out – if I wasn’t going to be at Hawthorn. It was clear to me that I wanted to play for the Melbourne Football Club." Jordan Lewis -

3rd AND 4th Round pick is what I believe. Is that overs? -
There's a fair rumour that this is exactly what they're planning! Well spotted Akum.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Allus Monk replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Here's another nice little sideline. WADA rules also require that any games played whilst effectively under a "provisional suspension" do not count. As the WADA ban was backdated to the start of 2015 (effectively giving the players a 12 month "discount"), all games played in 2015 will now no longer be included in players' games tally, which means, the cheating sniper Dustbin Fletcher goes under 400 games played! -
Just a good decision. For the club and for the player. Solid contributor, and every army needs solid soldiers. On occaision Pedobear can be much better than a solid soldier, but that's a bonus, not the reason to sign him. Simply a solid decision by a (now) solid club.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Allus Monk replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wait, they're going to take 9 away from us? -
Yes. At worst that puts us 4-0 to start next season.
-
The only question for me is how will our players respond to the bye after Round 23!!! There's something we didn't think we'd have to discuss.

Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination
Allus Monk replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Any money the AFL give it to Silvagni. Never let facts and stats get in the way of a good story. -
Only saw from near the end of the third quarter. Didn't see a Melbourne goal and didnt see a Melbourne free kick.
-
I didn't get home until just before three quarter time. This is what I saw. No Melbourne goals Seven consecutive free kicks to Fremantle (although actually interrupted by a dodgy free given to us in the back line, with one umpire calling it back and the other paying advantage for no net benefit) A Freo shot hitting the post and being called a goal, to the merriment of Fox Footy's "commentators" Oh and the ball flew over Hogan's head four times

Players You Respect From Other Clubs
Allus Monk replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
From past players, the great Brett Kirk for me. Stood for everything a leader should. -
Umm, pick 29, Gold Coast?
-
Somehow I just can't get a mental picture of Leigh Matthews or Barry Hall on ice skates!

When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
Allus Monk replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was going to start a thread "Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club: Priority Pick", but thought it premature. -
Your right!
-
IIRC it was 2003, and we were in desperate need of a big body forward to support an aging Neitz. Traded pick 20 for a slightly dubious key forward with positives and negatives. Ben Holland. Sound familiar? Line ball but I call that a win for us. Same again?
-
Yep, did the same with my 6 and 4 year olds yesterday. Took my Dad as well so we had three generations together. A great day.
-
How about we commit to bringing out an Irish kid, under the AFL's International Rookie scheme. I mean every year, and make a big deal about it. Call it the Jim Stynes internship or similar. Something we can own in two countries. Edit: or maybe the Earley Wight Stynes Fellowship

More importantly, how good at recruiting is Deledio's old man?
