  1. Three premiership players on that there list!
  2. https://overcast.fm/+J5lWVU7Co Not sure if this has been posted. Footyology podcast - Rohan Connolly and Mark Fine, recorded live straight after the Grand Final. They’re still stunned by the game.
  3. To be honest, I’d be more excited about going to this year’s B&F function, if it was a big and in-person event, with all the players and the cup as guests of honour. Haven’t anything on the reschedule of B&F.
  4. This one’s a preemptive “little thing” that I’ve always been a bit jealous of. Once the AFL and Channel Seven start marketing the new season in 2022, you can bet Max, Clarry and Trac will be the faces of everything, the same way Bont was in 2017. Sort of a mini refresher at the start of the season.
  5. My romantic view is that it was in the humidity of Cairns that the curse was actually lifted. Something happened in this environment, as far removed spiritually from footy at the G as you could be, that broke the curse. From those two games in four days we won the next twelve straight, and ultimately went 23-4-1. Something happened in Cairns, in my view.
  6. It's an interesting club he's in - premiership player who's never kicked a goal in the AFL. I wonder how many others are in it? I see Jake Lever has only 3 career goals, and none playing for Melbourne.
  7. Our premiership drought is now FOUR WEEKS old. There are kids out there who have never seen a Melbourne premiership!!! Will it ever end?
  8. I've thought exactly this watching every replay. He has clean possession, is about to hit the jets, and at the last minute has to sidestep a Bulldogs player, and the change in momentum just allows Bont to get a hand on him from behind, and the moment is gone. Even at the ball up from this we get a clean possession as the siren goes! Still, can't complain!
  9. I’ve watched so much footy over the last three weeks - GF, PF, R23, but I just realized I haven’t watched a second of the Qualifying Final back! I must get around to that- it’s worth it, right?
  10. Having heard my whole life my dad relaying every moment of the last quarter of the 64 GF, it was waking up on GF morning and unexpectedly having the thought from Hamilton filling my head: They'll tell the story of tonight And now they are, and so am I.
  11. This annoys me no end as well. It wasn’t even hands in the back, it was hands on each shoulder and pushing off to elevate himself. Textbook free kick.
  12. Also, Gerard Whately's call seconds later when the ball sailed through - "it was up at Sparrow's and just kept going". Great theatre.
  13. One thing that stands out from all the commentaries is the Petracca dribble goal. Only SEN notice in real time the Pickett block, and call it out for the moment of brilliance it is. Not Seven or any other call ever mentions it. In the heat of the excitement about the goal, to call this out is outstanding commentary, I think.
  14. This is true, but Lion is allowed to use Melbourne FC IP under the terms of their Club deal. The words "Premiers", "Premiership" and "Grand Final" are protected AFL IP, but they could use "Demons" and our colours and logo, as they did in the bottles the players had. I guess they think without being able to specifically link it to the language footy fans use it's not worth the effort.
  15. Surely they can do a play on Melbourne Bitter, maybe call it Melbourne @Bitter but optimistic
  16. If Geelong hadn't handed Port that ridiculous 118 point hiding in 07, and say won by 80 points, we would be number one all times Finals performer!
  17. Can’t see Big Ben Brown in any of them. Perhaps he was with the drug testers. Imagine that, having to be kept separate from the celebration until you can produce the sample. Talk about Grand Final pressure.
  18. I just want to say thank you so much @Cassiew for finding and sharing this gem. This puts it all into perspective, and I’ve actually spent time in the past contemplating exactly this opposite world - what if St Kilda won one before us. I’d feel exactly like Jakey here. Ultimately we’re all just supporters with more in common than we have differences.
  19. Wow. And all of those Melbourne years were premierships!
