JCB does pretty well most times. He was red hot on wanting to bring in Talia a long way out from the draft, back in 2009 (he told me he wanted Talia very early in the '09 season). But i will say this though John. Saying that Conglio is not up to it (whilst entitled to your opinion) is not one i agree with. I wouldn't call you a fool though.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Demon Disciple replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
His dad was known for being a silky-type, pace and definitely more of an outside type. The 2 things i want to know is, 1 - what is his pace and endurance like (seeing as he's able to run the wings pretty well), and 2 - whilst his is not an inside game, does he go when he needs to? -
2014 National Under 18 Championships

Would use our 3rd rounder on him without hesitation. We could do with a few tough, small and quick crumbers in the forward line. One JKH just isn't enough (get him a partner in crime). -

Was named in the bests again. Second to be precise. Anyone thinking we will get him for anything lower than our second round pick is kidding themselves. Christ, if he has a blinder in the final round, we may have to give up our first rounder for him (FFS Billy, ever heard of sliding under the radar ) -
Somebody obviously got too much praise from their mum whilst they were growing up.

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

Hawks will be open for a little longer than Geelong's. I think the Cat's window has closed (it had to close some time. The dominance they displayed from 07- now is a pretty bloody good window! I'd definitely take it, if it were Melbourne!!!) -
Players to target at the end of the year
Demon Disciple replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we were able to go in to next year with Petracca and Shiel (even though i'd prefer to bring in one quality KPD), we'd surely be running to the bank with that. Back in 2009 we were all drawing up midfields of Trengove, Scully, Jones, Gysberts etc etc. But without getting too far ahead of ourselves, it would be hard not to get excited by a midfield made up of Jones, Vince, Viney, Tyson, Shiel and Petracca/Brayshaw (with the likes of Trengove to come back, Roosy working his magic on Toumpas along with Salem and Kent continuing to develop). -
Jack Watts on Footy Show + Trenners on AFL 360

Here's hoping he finds his Bailey form again. He just looked so slow under Neeld and seemed to be stuck in reverse (he was still averaging around 18 disposals for 2012&13 though - 2010&11 was averaging 19 & 20 respectively). Roosy will get him right. -

If Frawley were to leave, i'd definitely look at bringing him in. -
GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

won the lotto? Not if the pick turns out to be a dud. A lot of people seem to be forgetting we would be losing a quality KPD for a pick with 'potential'. -
Seeing as how all teams around us on the ladder are after talls, whilst we are after mids, i couldn't give a stuff where they finish or what they do, the mids will be there at pick 4 or pick 7/8. So couldn't care less.

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY
Demon Disciple replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Frawley was and still is our best backman. However, Roosy has been able to have our defence run pretty well (understatement) without Frawley within kooee of it. If this was last year, I'd have said that Chippa was vital to the structure of our back-line. It would be interesting to see how our current back-line would go if one or 2 were to get injured (and not putting Frawley back down there). -

I don't mind Taylor Hunt. He's a tough bugger that can find the ball, but also can play a run with role. I'd have him in the team before McKenzie. If he doesn't cost the world, i wouldn't mind trying to bring him to demonland. -
It would need to be Tapscott and a pick. Or a lower pick just on its own. BP could sure pick them!

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014

A chance for captain corageous to earn another 3 brownlow votes! You can do it Skip -
We do this and we leave ourselves without a quality KPD (dangerous game to play). If we were to go down that path, then i'd take one of Petracca/Brayshaw and try and bring in another young afl experienced mid with some pace and skill (like a Shiel or Coniglio). But i'd prefer to try and bring in both a tall and a small with whatever picks we end up having.

What we think doesn't really matter. Roosy is in charge and he'll make these types of decisions and that's good enough for me.

Some of the possible free agents coming out of contract next year are mighty enticing. I'd be saving a poach for one of those (all the while ensuring maximum compo should Frawley walk) -

Should Frawley go and we get premium compensation, that then opens up a few doors. Just looking at your picks, there's no way in hell we would land Gaff with pick 23, nor Stretch with pick 41 (we'll need to offer up our second rounder imo). The rest looks possible. However, if Frawley were to leave, we'd need to bring in a quality tall one way or the other (if that means draft, then hope like all hell that Durdin is available come pick 4), pick 5 i agree should be traded to bring in another young experienced mid. Ideally i'd love to bring in both a quality young mid and KPD with some AFL experience with those early picks. -
Congratulations to Nathan and Jerri

Just goes to show how good David Neitz was and how underrated he was by the rest of the AFL community. What's more astonishing is that he played a fair few games in defence before shifting forward. -
Of course i'd have him over Dawson. McDonald does very well one-on-one. He well and truly deserves his spot on the list and in the back-line, but as far as his disposal and decision making is concerned, he simply cannot be the one who brings it out of defence (nor should he be the cornerstone of our defence). Many of the oppositions goals results directly from our turnovers in the back-line and that is hardly surprising. How many of our defenders can be said to have good disposal? Very, very few and it is a pressing need.

Given the output Caddy has given the Cats since arriving, i'm sure the Cats are ruing giving up such a high pick for him.
