The MRP is an absolute joke. How Thomas can be given weeks is an indictment on the game. It also highlights the MRP's unbelievable inconsistency. If injury plays a part in sanctions and if Thomas has a case to answer then why didn't Butcher and Josh Kennedy's incidents get weeks from the MRP? 'Amateurish' flatters the numbskulls that make up this joke of a review panel.

If one of these indicators is butchering the ball by foot, then i'd say we excelled in that aspect last Sunday.

Have no problem with this whatsoever. But i don't agree with Houli that it will increase Muslim attendances. Just like having a church or a synagogue, neither of those would increase attendances for games (one would have thought).

when the dogs were up and about, they were one of the better kicking teams in the league. Sure they have dropped off a bit since then, but they still have much of the same cattle that will play on SUnday. They will no doubt find it when they play us, given we like to provide our opposition with at least 5 metres space. Why is it so hard for us to man up? It pains me to say it, becuase he is by far and away my favourite player and also happenes to be the most talented player on our list. But unless Sylvia has an absolute stellar year, i'd almost certainly consider trading him at the end of the year. We simply haven't seen him at his best on a regular basis, however he would command some great currency on the trade market. We also desperately need more players of his experience and age on our list, let alone his talent. But Col will be 27 come November. If we are ever to have a serious tilt at challenging, his best will be well and truly past him. Do we need him? Hell yeah, but trading him and bringing in a younger player (whether through draft or trade) would help improve our chances of future success.

Let me just start out by saying that i will always love the Melbourne Football Club. The players on the other hand have completely lost me. Not because of today alone, but today was the straw that broke the camel's back afaic. It is now so abundantly apparent that we need to go through another complete re-build. And i might only be 24, but i've just about had enough. I'm of the belief that if you're gonna do something worthwhile, you have to do it right. The point has come where all and sundry at the club need to get behind Neeld 100%, purely because what he brings to the club is an attitude that the club itself has lacked for a very long time. Neeld is going to rock the boat big time, many will not be able to handle that, from players to staff, supporters and the rest in between. Of course, after 186 something had to be done. Yes, the buck stops with the coach, but the players came away from that day far too easily. We have way too many passengers on board, who are either lazy, arrogant or simply not good enough. Only the players can control the results out on the field, as such, they are the one's who must be held accountable. I couldn't care if the list was cut back to 20 players come years end (of course it will never happen), so long as we got all of the rotten crap out. We can no longer afford to wean it out slowly, it must all be gotten rid of pretty much in one swoop, otherwise the disgusting culture will continue to fester. All players are fair game come years end. I look at our list and honestly, i can only see 6 players who i would say are must keeps - even then i think i'm being generous. That is just about as damning as it could get. We have been heavily criticised for getting rid of too many older players. Many we got rid of have proven, imo, to be good calls. The problem with the remaining senior players, is that they are the major culprits of the disgusting culture that this club cannot get rid of.

Have no idea when contracts expire with off-field staff, but don't player's contracts expire at the end of October? If that's the case with staff, that would be pretty convenient coming into the draft.

Totally agree. I remember at the time around the 2008 draft thinking that we should not recruit Natanui, purely because he was so raw and the coaches would've ruined his potential. Hopefully with the amount of coaches and the attitude of Neeld, our development of kids will greatly improve.

If that is the case, and we sign them on for less, then that should just about be CS marching orders. I'm not having a go at trying to obtain sponsors, more so the fact that we would have gone backwards. Wasn't it CS who stated that he wasn't going to undersell the MFC brand? Oh dear! It seems to me that Cam is now in panic mode and is trying to save his job. It seems too little too late if you choose to believe rumours on SEN that the board is set to give him the arse sometime in the not too distant future. Perhaps if he had shown as much tenacity and dedication to obtaining sponsors 6 months ago, as opposed to seemingly sitting on his arse designing special guernseys, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now. Maybe we would've been only needing to get only 1 sponsor as opposed to 2.

I can't believe some of the crap i'm reading on this thread. Jamar has never been a high accumulator. What he does provide, when not tearing apart another ruckman, is a contest. At worst he gives a good account of himself in the ruck, his primary role in the team (not as much can be said for many in the team at the moment). If we are relying on him to get possession numbers too, then our mids aren't doing their job (which we all know). If he is under-performing in terms of influence on a game, throw him forward. Why not? He has proven he can take an overhead mark (most of our forwards can't do that atm) plus he will either take the heat off Clark, or get an inferior defender. Apart from Gawn (who even after his knee reco, will take a while to come on) and if Clark predominantly plays forward, we only have Stef as a replacement. He is putting in less of an influence than the Russian at the moment. Spencer is just a list clogger, and must be in hysterics that he is still on an AFL wage and Fitzpatrick, seriously? This guy whilst raw, is so far away from deserving a regular senior game that kids born yesterday have a better chance of making it, before he does.

Yep, this guy is my favourite non-mfc player. I counted 3 times within the last 4 or so minutes, where he positioned himself on the hawks goal line and ensured the hawks wouldn't goal.

It's clear that there still needs to be a lot of work done to get somewhere decent. With the draft meant to be so good this year and the importance of it to us, we need to get someone in who knows how to spot talent. We need to fill our Head recruiting role. I say, stuff McGuire and go after their #2 man, he's got no chance of taking our sponsors now. I don't think Rendell would be interested, given he wanted to get out of recruiting anyway, but stayed on because of the quality on hand in the 2012 draft. The 2012 draft is a massive one it seems, for the MFC. We better not [censored] it up.

You cannot blame Schwab for Polis' shortcomings, we probably thought we did enough background checking for it to be good, clearly it wasn't enough. But that's not what i have a problem with. Schwab for the past few months now has used EW as a scapegoat and has continually spat out the same line that because of the EW deal, we could afford to take our time with the second major sponsor, ie we didn't go as hard as what we otherwise would have. Now the EW deal has backfired, and it is because of this lacklustre approach, that we are left high and dry with no other sponsors on board yet. We may get new sponsors, whether that be as soon as tomorrow or next week, or god forbid in a few months down the line. We continually hear that this club aspires to be elite, a quality that Schwab is trying to push hard into the club, yet this whole saga has highlighted that Schwab's efforts to gain new sponsors has been less than 100%. He has virtually said this himself (because of EW we can afford to take our time). We all know of the mayhem at the end of last year, with Schwab only getting a one year extension, etc. Maybe it is time for change at the top.

You have got to be kidding me. Stand Frawley, Garland and Rivers side by side and then tell me that they are the same size. How naive do you have to be if you look at height and weight to judge body size. Such a misinformed opinion. Ok, lets play the game your way. Frawley is 193cm and 93kg, Dunn is 192cm and 95kg. Stand them side by side, or better yet, actually see them in person close up, then tell me they are the same size. Dunn is nowhere near the same size as Frawley. But oh no, let's just use stats to justify a comparison.

It's such a love-hate relationship. These are only achieved if you are passionate. We're in too deep to get out now. I often wonder if i had gone down a different path, if my dad barracked for another team and i in his footsteps (brainwashed and all), would it be the same? This club really frustrates the hell out of me sometimes. I have never been angrier than the levels that this club drives me to, but that's only because i care too damn much. If i had my time again would I support the Dees? You're goddamn right i would.

Too right. Now if only the on-field performance can reflect our off-field resilience.

Frawley fills on of those. I'd love to know who you think fills another. Garland, Rivers, Sellar even Martin at a stretch. None of these players are a Key Defenders butt-hole. Garland is way too lose and doesn't have the body to hold down CHB/FB, Rivers has never been either - more 3rd man up (Garland would replace him), Sellar - well and Martin can only play back-up ruck - a KPF/KPD he is not.

The question is a really hard one to answer. Given our current predicament you could make a case for having either Talia or Gysberts. Both have been injury prone and both haven't done much on the AFL scene. We are lacking another quality KPD to help Frawley - is Talia that? Not yet. We are also lacking quality mids that thrive in a contested situation that can also dispose of it properly. Is Gysberts that? Not yet. Either way, if we chose one or the other, we'd be hoping that their respective qualities would help in our problem areas.

In terms of sponsorship now, what would be the preference, given we have both the front and back now vacant? Just one main sponsor on both the front and back, or a FOJ sponsor and a BOJ sponsor? Besides the obvious "which ever gets us the most $" which would be preferred. Given China Southern seemed to have pulled out, might they come back if they were offered the whole jumper?
