  1. Who would have seen this coming a week ago!!?
  2. From the Herald-sun "But you don't hand back draft picks if you aren't absolutely, 100 per cent, rock-solid certain they will be stripped from you at some stage anyway. So finally we know that Adelaide is guilty, because it believes it is too." "So in one way this is a masterstroke from Adelaide, especially given AFL football operations boss Adrian Anderson has already confirmed he will recommend the club's actions are taken into account at the Commission next week. Why a masterstroke? Because Adelaide had only two live picks in this draft, and its best pick was a modest 20."
  3. Can we get garry ablett senior to come out of retirement and be twenty years younger for this hypothetical?
  4. Speaking of training, although about the eagles, rather than the dees... did anyone see the article about the eagles player Newman who ran slower than Worsfold in a time trial today? Bizarre ... Newman's time-trial disaster Good to see cale boy running 2kms in 6:36 min too ...
  5. and others... 53. MELBOURNE - Jeremy Howe Height: 192cm Weight: 85kg DOB: 29/06/90 Club: Hobart (Tas) Draft range: 50-rookie A year ago, the high-flying forward was playing country footy with Dodges Ferry, outside Hobart. In 2010 the 20-year-old impressed greatly through his aerial feats with Hobart in Tasmania's state league. If he plays in the AFL in 2011, he'll be one of the stories of this draft. 55. HAWTHORN - Troy Davis Height: 192cm Weight: 90kg DOB: 10/06/92 Club: Geelong Falcons (Vic) Draft range: 50-70 Tall defender with frightening speed who prides himself on contested marking and spoiling more fancied opponents. His coaches liken him to Brian Lake in his ability to read the flight of the ball in the air. Not going to include the lucas cook bio!
  6. interesting reading on dan nicholson 46. COLLINGWOOD - Daniel Nicholson Height: 183cm Weight: 76kg DOB: 02/11/90 Club: University Blues (Vic) Draft range: 40-70 Nicholson is an out-and-out speedster who's also been strongly linked to the Pies. His unconventional route includes a 2010 season in which he played at half-back in Melbourne's amateur competition and shone in an under-19 representative game for the amateurs against the Victorian country team. Pace and a long left foot are his main attractions.
  7. In 2012 Adelaide has picks 24, 54 and 64 (used for promoted rookie). In 2012 Melbourne has picks 4, 27 (father son), 53, 70, 73 (used for promoted rookie) and 74 (used for promoted rookie) So technically the delay is a good thing, as assuming that the crows will lose their first and second picks, this year it only would have helped bump up our pick 73 up two places to pick 71. Whereas if the crows lose their first and second picks next year, assuming they finish above us, this will help our second and third round picks. But not much of a big deal, obviously even more so if we might lose picks next year!
  8. ok fair enough...
  9. I want to pose another question, what would the top 10 look like if the draft wasn't compromised, i.e no 17 year old selections last year and no father son. So the actual ten best undrafted 18 year olds in order, as opposed to factoring in club selections. Would it be something like: 1. Whitfield 2. Daniher 3. O'Meara 4. Toumpas 5. Crouch 6. Grundy 7. O'Rourke 8. Viney 9. Wines 10. Plowman
  10. I love when the mock drafts use player comparisons. I remember when they compared trengove to cousins and scully to judd!
  11. If we don't use pick 53 it means we gave away stefan martin for nothing! (yes, I know we gave away cale for nothing)
  12. although one advantage of the pre-season draft is that it gives clubs a few extra weeks to look at players they've invited to train with them.
  13. Thanks for the link, pretty good deal, being able to watch nt games on youtube. 3 motlops on one team! and cult figure relton roberts!
  14. How much cap space would he clear for Tippet? (I know most of his wage was for his afl paid marketing role, so maybe him leaving won't free up much cap room anyway)
  15. So long Izzy. I'll always remember your 13 games, 39 kicks, 18 tackles and 2 goals.
  16. Just looked up what happened to Carlton in 2002, wasn't flash! $1M fine Loss of draft picks No. 1, 2, 31 and 34 from the 2002 National Draft Loss of all draft picks in the 2003 Preseason Draft Loss of first and second round draft picks in the 2003 National Draft
  17. Well I knew Caro hated James Brayshaw, Sam Newman and the Fev... now we can add Melbourne to that list
  18. Unlikely to get Ray now.... any other equivalent players out there? Something out of left-field maybe... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/150283/default.aspx
  19. But if we delisted him we would have to pay out his contract for next year - this way we don't and we free a spot on our list
  20. Is it possible that jay clark from the herald-sun fell for the original hoax and then it snowballed into a bigger rumour and was picked up by the age and afl.com? aargh who knows...
  21. I think they'll get a big fine but I doubt they'll lose draft picks...
  22. Good spot Demon3. It's a shame you didn't spot Dangerfield, Toby Greene and Gary Ablett as well...
  23. Yup the goons on afl trade radio aren't the greatest fans of the dees trade period!
