  1. Tyson was a best 22 player at GWS with injury problems, not opportunity problems. Don't know a lot about Frost.
  2. The Mitching and Maxing of Kings was my favourite Demonland one-liner ever. Shame we won't be able to do that now.
  3. I wonder how many players who leave because they can't break in to their existing side go on to be true AFL grade players? Sure you get the odd Ted Richards or Josh Kennedy, but there are also a lot of Viv Michie, Ben Newton types who excel in the second tier but can't quite crack it. I've often referred to those types as "almost good enough". This thread is basically asking who our almost good enoughs are. AFL lists are subject to enough injuries and form that any player actually good enough should get an opportunity.
  4. Apologies if I'm being unfair. I just remember you specifically quoting me at the time as "wanting him delisted" in the list management threads, and I felt you were misrepresenting my position then, and since I still see posts from you claiming others "wanting him delisted", I see this as a continuation of it. Perhaps I just need to let it go.
  5. Thanks Billy, this summarizes my position too. My position was always "will probably be delisted", but @Redleg and others consistent portrayal of that as "want him delisted" is a sore point.
  6. Best of luck to him and his future health. No ill will at all from me.
  7. It's probably more to do with the peak interfering with their peripheral vision with footies flying about the place. Necks and faces can easily be covered with sun screen anyway, scalps not so much (unless your name is Nathan Jones).
  8. How about we just don't make a stupid big deal over it? Wheaters didn't appear to be crushed under the terrible burden of #31 - probably because nobody at the time was trying to turn him in to Ron Barassi.
  9. Fun fact: if he gets a game, he'll be the first person in the history of the club to play a game with the name 'Dion'.
  10. Am I right in saying our next pick, 65, is our last live pick (with promotion of Wagner to come)?
  11. Hey, I forgot this was on. Logged on for a cursory 5 minute look and saw the WELCOME TO... thread. Pretty different to the previous years of anticipation!
  12. Personally I think Bernie should not be commenting on issues that have not finished playing out yet, regarding a player who is at present still his team mate.
  13. That was the same thing I thought DOF. I've thought for quite some years that I've read literally every possible permutation of opinion on this site already know, and everything from now forward is just a repeat. This topic is probably the finest example - EVERY year it's "oh, it's the worst white guernsey ever, even worse than last year. Here are all these great examples that aren't white - let's just pretend it's not a requirement that our clash jumper be white..."
  14. Getting excited about talent is all part of the fun I thought. Stuff tempering expectations - I go all in. I know I might end up bitterly disappointed again, but one of these days I'm bound to be right and it'll be worth it, surely?
  15. He'd have been accused of making it all about him in the throws of the season if he'd done that. If not that, someone would have found some other way to pan him over it. There's no pleasing people with the timing of things like this. I read his statement and to me it was as good as I'd hope for in the context of being a player who received a ban for drugs. It doesn't mean it was absolutely good, or that he's a hero, or that I admire him, it's just that I thought it was appropriate under the circumstances. I don't think it would kill people just to give him that nod.
  16. Hah. I was just about to say it's great to see Daisy moving to create (more of) her own history.
  17. Thread purged and (light) sanctions issues. A reminder to everyone not only to avoid derailing threads, but if someone else does it, report the post rather than contributing to it by replying. Cheers.
  18. It was refreshing to hear Goodwin say that they'd have the footies out straight away, and it sounds like it's been true. Gone are the days of no footies before Christmas. I feel so impatient waiting for this coming season. I can't remember the last time I was so looking forward to one. Love the training reports guys. Thanks, the effort is much appreciated, regardless of whether you're writing full reports or the odd one liner.
  19. Probably because they don't feel like the death threats, rape threats, being told they should just be grateful the men let them play their game etc.
  20. You were spot on! ...probably, if only I had any recollection at all about what this significant moment was
  21. Hah. I sat with my back to the floor of people standing around the TV watching. I'm sure at least half the 'crowd' don't give a stuff about it and were just watching as a socially accepted way of slacking off for a few minutes.
  22. The trade-off is pick 84 for our last rookie draft pick. Wagner is already on our list and would be available to play.
  23. I'm surprised; I didn't see the hurry as I see his position as one in very tight competition next year. Congratulations to him though. It's a good reward for a promising debut season, and the club obviously rate him.
