It was hard to know whether to sing It's a Grand Old Flag or Tigerland when the goal sailed through. Weird day at the footy, but a real win for the MFC.
-
Seriously. The stench of 33 blokes must have nearly killed them!

I reckon it's got nothing to do with him being indigenous. It's because he's a male. We need a female captain! Best quote in this whole thread is "Don't call me ignorant. No clue, perhaps". They should bottle that.

Yeh agreed. We had some of the most superb atmosphere I can remember, especially given the actual numbers. I was pulling beers at a fairly classy restaurant/bar in South Yarra, and yeh, it's fair to say the Collingwood supporters that were dorwing their confused sorrows were absolutely feral.
-
Agree 100%. The whole shop around was a cynical self-indulgent joke. But I think it's unfair those that say he's not a ball player and he doesn't win his own ball. He wins plenty of his own eyeball.

I think Minson is a terrible footballer. He is everything the doggies need in concept, but he doesn't actually do any of it. Drops marks, doesn't like contact (well, likes initiating it badly, but not a good receiver), doesn't ruck, immobile... I would rather persevere with Stef Martin. Big pass from me.

Big Al was a good footballer! The rest of them - too funny.

That's right. And since the Saints are going to win, I cannot seriously believe I am going to be a Saints fan next weekend. It's like those "Would you rather" quizzes.

I think there has been a rise in little little kids' jumpers this year. I say that because 16 weeks ago, when my son was born, we signed him up for a Little Devil membership. It arrived a week later with a membership pack and a dog blanket (with pets Paradise logos knitted into it). I thought the club had accidentally processed me as a dog membership (I have one of them too!). But no, the note came inside the blanket saying that "due to the huge sales in the little devil category, there are no more kids blankets. But don't worry, this one's exactly the same". So I would say whoever wrote that note doesn't have kids (and it is a game parent that wraps their 2 week old in a dog blanket!). But the good part of that is, we have more little devils than we anticipated!!

More importantly, I did enjoy watching the Ratten press conference. Had Judd sitting next to him looking like the biggest sooky-la-la.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Is there some public news? However, I do know if Jones is gone there are absolutely reasons for it.

Cats and Saints should not be allowed to play finals at the G
Choko replied to Deeman's topic in Melbourne Demons
Crap post. It takes less time to get from Geelong to the G than it does it get from South Yarra to Carlton in peak traffic. And St Kilda supporters have seen so little success that they should go in their droves to see their team play on the moon, let alone the MCG. The crowd was disappointing, despite the forecast. -
KNIGHTS SACKED Like they say... you always want to be the coach after the coach after the legend.
-
Agreed. If they think the issue is the coach, they have to be kidding. Knights got them into the finals last year ahead of time, and even then it was with 10.5 wins. He was left a terrible list to work with. They are trying to build a spine with kids and Knights also made the hard call on Lloyd, Lucas, Lovett... It is a massive joke if they think sacking Knights is a good idea.

Why rip us off like that?
-
I wouldn't be surprised if PJ gets in for someone. It will be his last game for the club if he does.
-
I wouldn't be that quick on Q. If he was cheap, a big body, a new start... might be a good 2 yr proposition.
-
If Bruce gets one vote from one poster here, I would hazard a guess that means he was probably Melbourne's best. The anti-Bruce sentiment here is astonishing. 9 tackles and a negating game on Hodge. Wake up.
-
Well looks like I am the only one left in the Daniel Bell fan club! I think he has a lot still to offer.
-
I'm in Cambodia and trying desperately to find a link to the game! Very pumped. I agree re Chip, but if it is raining, it may matter less. The other results yesterday sucked eggs. On the other hand, this is our hardest game remaining, so GO DEES! Pump the [censored] and poos!

I saw Dean Bailey at a function recently and asked him to pass on my apologies to same ruckman!!!
-
Very bad if Chip doesn't play. Firstly, he needs to play in big games for learning. Secondly, Hawthorn is about the worst team in the comp not to have him for. Actually the worst. Warnock would have to play out of his skin to compensate and our midfield would have to win by quite a way. Without Gimes and Frawley, we would lack drive out of the backline. I would be inclined to bring in Morton in place of Johnson to assist with drive/rebound.

Knowing a few of the players a bit, a lot of players that get dropped have the inclination to blame the club. They say that they are not sure what is expected of them, they play the victim. Basically, some players are like children because they are just kids. Others put their head down, try to learn and improve and desperately seek to earn their spot again. Occasionally a player and coach do not click and a player is better of elsewhere (C. Johnson and Bailey is a good example). I know for a fact that any player who wants to know where they are at the MFC can find out immediately, at any time. From their line coach or from Dean. So if Morton says otherwise, it's because he is frustrated, not willing to learn or is finding people who tell him he is stiff (not hard to find those people if you're a footballer). If Morton is feeling unloved and like a victim, and we are only going on a tenuous post, then for mine it is only reinforcing why he is out of the side.

Agreed on Bate. If he does not improve his forward defensive pressure, there will be no spot for him. Bailey has demonstrated that he is not afraid to play an unconventional forward line, and our results when we do so are no worse, arguably better. So he cannot rely on his height or reputation in order to get a game. But the other problem for Bater is that he has to impose himself on games a lot more. Either he has to be taking a lot more marks up the ground, or he needs to be banking 3 goals/week. On Dunn, I was speaking to Bomber Riley a couple of years ago (once he left us) and he made the comment that Dunn was a midfielder with a forward's body and Sylvia was a forward with a midfielder's body. I think that comment speaks true for the challenge Dunn has always faced - do we play him forward, where he doesn't take a lot of contested marks, etc... or do we play him in the middle, where he might be more naturally inclined?
