What are you expecting against the Saints?
Choko replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
For us the result is pretty much irrelevant. If we can be competitive with them in most contests most of the day, I think we will be able to take a lot out of it. The reality is, if we had to beat them, we may try an unconventional forward line the likes of the Carlton one. Bennell, Davey, a defensive forward and Jetta. Or we might try to make it a nil-all-draw by playing slow and wide with lots of men behind the ball. But this year, Bailey will be more interested in getting games into the right players in the right positions than finding some makeshift one-offs to have the illusions of competitiveness. So we cane expect Watts to be double teamed, Green to kick a few, our backline to be honourable and our midfield to get well beaten by a bigger and better side. I would hope we work very hard on negating their rebound off half-back, because I think it's clear we can control that a lot better than we can control other aspects where they are a lot better. If we are within 2 goals of them each quarter and win one quarter, I will be OK with that. -
Ha - good thought but nup. No player does not have the boots they want or need based on money.
-
That I agree with. And not just because we are 2 wins ahead!
-
People need to go and have a long glass of chill the [censored] out. If anyone thinks Richmond is traveling well, they are seriously kidding. In terms of North, let them finish middle of the ladder every year and become increasingly irrelevant. Does anyone actually believe they are closer to a premiership tilt than us? No. We are inconsistent because we are young. We are frustrating because we are running around with some seriously undersized and inexperienced onballers and half a forward line. The sun will come up. 2010 was not our year.

I for one know I owe Jamar a personal apology
-
I don't know if this is true, but my memory is that Chris Connolly might have written either the music or the lyrics. Either way, it is top shelf vintage stuff.

Boys against men. We won the hard ball and our endeavour was superb. Jamar, Moloney, Bartram, Chip, Davey, Bate, Grimes, Garland sensational.

Not that there's any point arguing with you, but if he has no skills AND no application/heart, can you then explain how it is that he has played 130 games and been voted a leader by his peers?
-
Crap. If you follow what everyone seems to be saying, the guy has no ability apparently. How do you play 130 games with no ability? Heart. Also, do you think a guy with no heart would be in the leadership group? What does that say about the others at the club who voted him in?
-
I think they would be hoping that a good draw and some luck might see us sneak in next year, but it's touch and go.

Pathetic is complimentary. Disgraceful limp excuse for a character mate. You think you are the same as Miller (social loafer, apparently) and by chance he played 131 games of AFL... what's the most notable thing you have done? You clearly have no idea how the club works, because if you had seen Brad Miller around the supporters, kids and sponsors, you would retreat back up your rectum. He has more heart than almost anyone in the AFL. Play the ball, fair enough. You think he should be delisted. Fine. But show some respect to a person. You too Stranga. If that's the single best post you have read, then you need to go use the internet for its intended purpose.

I think you can show a bit more respect for someone who has given his all to the MFC, keyboard hero.

Yeh, probably true. But sometimes with these sorts of forwards and knowing Maric a little bit, the penny may drop when they get their chance. So I would maybe give him a game to see if he is worth retaining on the list. I.e. give him every opportunity to fail or succeed. But I also understand the "don't give a game until it's earned" sentiment.
-
In: McKenzie, Maric, Dunn, Frawley, Johnson Out: Rivers, Miller, Bennell, Jones (if injured - if not, then no Maric), Warnock
-
I thought we battled manfully. Rivers is going to have to add a couple of strings to his bow or his career is going going gone unfortunately. Had a shocker today in every way. In a couple of years we will remember this day as the first day Gysberts set the world on fire for the MFC as part of our premiership midfield.

Without saying too much, I have seen it and had the privilege of Cameron explaining each aspect of it to me. From the colour through to the branding, it is simply superb. I would go as far as to say most other clubs will copy our idea and re-brand similarly.
-
It is very early of course, but it appears to me that the only real things he lacks are physical presence and reading of the play. Both are going to develop through age and experience. So we are gonna have a beauty IMO.
-
I promise you the coaches did not tell players not to run and spread and create options.
-
No doubt. He needed to clear the area. Was the worst of probably 3 or 4 big mistakes. The others were mainly made by Grimes.

Well done Dappa! Gutted tho!

Understand your point. If the HOF has the word integrity in it, then no. So under current rules, no. But I just think the footy HOF should limit itself to footy achievements. If the achievement is there then it should be recognised. If Christopher Hudson (Hudson surname probably a bad example!) were a HOF footballer, by not putting him in it is simply denial of what the HOF is there for. And it means it will keep getting raised (for example, when he is out of jail, if he pleads guilty and blames his Mummy, etc...). So I think it's high and mighty to give the HOF some moral purpose.
-
I don't mind that we are doing it, but geez it looks bloody ridiculous. Literally laughable. no wonder it raised eyebrows. brett: you keep changing your argument mate. I think you should move on. You have gone from "No successful company tinkers with their main brand to bagging major and successful companies that do. It's OK, you're allowed an opinion. Is just that it's not the only legitimate marketing opinion to have.

I honestly don't think so. I do understand why some people would say "X person (maybe or maybe not Carey) should not be celebrated in any way", but I just think that's illogical. Also, by drawing a line somewhere, those that are within it are somehow sufficiently moral.... Have you thought about what happens if someone is in the HOF and then commits a heinous act? Withdrawn? Obviously my opinion is not because I condone heinous acts, it's simply that I don't think HOF and those acts are in any way related.
