  1. Challenge it. Challenge it hard and make some real noise in the media. This horse**** cannot stand. Time for the club to stand up. We always seem to get a poor run at the tribunal and we just bend over a take it. Multiple other players got off for similar incidents (Dangerfield and Hipwood as examples), so should Fritsch. If that’s suspension worthy, then players are officially no longer allowed to protect themselves from impact and the rules of the game need to be altered.
  2. He didn’t intend to flatten someone, he braced for contact. He instinctively raised his arm to protect himself having his ribs broken by an opposition player barreling into him low at waist and chest height. He raised his arm instinctively to protect an injured hand in a brace, and did well not to raise his arm or shoulder any higher. He actually prevented serious injury by not following through. If he’s suspended, then we should challenge. If he’s suspended, then contact rules of the game need to be altered as a result, as players should be allowed to brace themselves for heavy contact.
  3. If he does get a week then we have to challenge. To compare to recent incident dismissed: Fritsch - In play accidental forearm to head of opposition player who was a waste height bending down to bump/tackle. Fritsch is bracing for contact with split second time to react and the opposition player played out the game. Fritsch has no MRP record. Hawkins - In play accidental elbow to the face caved in Mays eye socket and he missed the remainder of the match and subsequent weeks match. Hawkins also has a horrible MRP record.
  4. 100% this. Dusty fends off high every week, often recklessly to the head or throat. He never even gets cited for head high contact. I still remember he did a high fend off on Jordie McKenzie years ago that hit his throat and Jordie came from the ground with breathing issues. Not cited, not even a free kick. The rules don’t apply for Martin apparently! What is Fritsch supposed to do in this scenario? Not try to protect himself and just accept broken ribs? He was about to be cleaned up by a guy coming in at waist and chest height. He had less than half a second to react in mid air and just braced himself for strong contact. He honestly did an incredible job not to raise his arm and shoulder higher and completely cave in the guys skull. The North player was dazed for a bit but then played out the game. It was possibly the best result injury wise for both players. If he gets suspended for that then the game is officially a non contact sport going forward. Not even worth a fine.
  5. Not even worth citing. He took the ball and in less than half a second attempted to fend off a tackler who came in at waist height. If anything he should be commended for not taking the guys head off. Fantastic technique from Fritsch not to let his arm raise any higher. If he gets suspended then it’s basically confirmation that contact is no longer allowed. A player is allowed to defend himself when about to be crunched, and Fritsch should be commended for minimizing the damage. North player played out the match with no concussion also. Nothing to see here.
  6. Wake up Melbourne. You’re about to lose to a winless rabble devoid of talent who couldn’t even train properly this week!
  7. Very lazy today and playing like trash, yet still only a few points down. Once we get going we should get well on top. Sidenote, Baker is not up to it. Doesn’t ha e the smarts, skills or stamina on the wing or in the middle. Only chance left to save his career is as a pressure forward IMO. His only good game at afl level thus far was when he kicked a few ripping goals.
  8. Melksham and Gus to spend time in the guts you’d think
  9. Because GWS need more top 5 picks. Bloody hell!
  10. Kicked 4 goals in his debut game for GWS. His leading was strong and he was a key contributor for them in their win. Best of luck Jesse in staying healthy and getting out on the park more often. Just try to keep quiet if you ever play against us!
  11. Nup, [censored] him. He walked out. He’s constantly injured. We’ve got his position well covered now. We’re winning this year off the back of good culture, our team hasn’t really changed. Why mess with positive culture by bringing him back?
  12. Having sat through years and years or hopeless rubbish, I do feel for North supporters. Now back to the task at hand... This should be a percentage boost. I want top spot on the ladder.
  13. Smart boy he is then! Nankervis is the definition of a big average role player, exists purely to try and negate his opponent.
  14. They are trash. Who can forget them spitting on their own players coming off the ground a few years back.
  15. Took a few years to get over health issues and build himself up, but he’s brilliant now. This year has been his best season yet and he should be in all Australian conversations. Great signing and show of faith by both player and club!
  16. Probably in this order. Small defender - I’m not talking about a rebounderkng defender, I’m talking a lockdown option to clamp down on opposition gun small forwards. Jetta and Hibberd are near the end. We need a proper defender to replace them. Salem, Rivers, Bowey etc are rebounders in my eyes and not lockdown types. Mid sized forward - Marking type like Fritsch who hits the scoreboard. We’ve targeted a few in the drafts the past few years and missed them. Need to get another one for depth. Outside midfielder - may have been addressed with Laurie and Bowie and Rossman, but we need more quality depth in this area to compliment Langdon in future. Guys like Harmes, Vandemburg, Tomlinson etc are not the answer there. Key defender - Lever good for long term. May has a few years left. Tomlinson isn’t the strongest defender. Petty is still a question mark. Daw is old and depth and played forward too. Need another tall defender for depth. Key forward - a young one to develop as our key forward are all hitting retirement age over the next few years with only Weideman as a longer term prospect. Need more talent to develop and compliment him.
  17. A rare achievement for a Melbourne player to play 300 games, and making it after the pounding his body took under those packs for years is impressive. Nathan is a great clubman and was a very good player at his peak. Congrats to the legend for sticking with the club when others didn’t and always giving his all out on the field.
  18. I love Langdon. He’s so important to us structurally, helps us keep our shape and offer an outlet on the wing all day. It was unbelievable a few weeks back when he played 100% game time and clocked up 15kms! He must be a robot, his endurance is insane. He’s started hitting the scoreboard more this year too and really brings others into the game with good link up play. Definitely in All Australian contention this season. He’s possibly the best value recruit in my lifetime if he keeps this form up.
  19. I mostly agree with you. What he showed at underage level is what we’re now seeing at AFL level. His around the ground work to be a linking option and his positioning around stoppages is brilliant. His ability with ground balls is freakish for his size. His ruck work is super advanced for his age. His leap is awesome, NicNat like. His forward draft however is poor and his contested marking is poor. He’s being used there as a resting option purely because he can’t own the number 1 ruck position yet. I’ll eat my own face if he ever becomes a good forward. Overall he’s tracking extremely well for a tall his age.
  20. Think this will be correct for the changes. I worry we’ll wind up too tall and lacking speed against the Tigers, who are a quick running pressure side.
  21. He’s been great around the ground when playing in the ruck, but he’s really struggled up forward. He’s not sticking the marks yet and hasn’t kicked a goal all season I don’t think? His work around the ground is great though. He’s really sharp with following up the ground balls and his positioning around packs. He’s also a decent link option during play too. Going very well for a second year tall/ruck. Just needs to start sticking those marks and he’ll become a real danger for oppositions!
  22. Good maturity test today. If we don’t play smart we’ll lose this, and the Hawks are a [censored] team so we better not fold.
  23. Massive out and leaves our forward line looking a lot less dangerous for scoring power. Petracca might need to play predominantly forward the next few weeks.
  24. Had heard it was a 2 year extension on decent coin to take him through to free agency and looks to be correct. Still bloody happy he’s signed on. He’s the best 100 gamer I’ve seen and best inside midfielder in red n blue in my years supporting the club.
  25. He doesn’t have to. Trade him to Freo or anywhere. Free up cap space and get a pick back to use. Sign Merrett as a free agent with more cap space available.
