  1. Side note: Langdon is definitely a superior wingman to Hill and cost half the price. We nailed that trade!
  2. We looked better with Jackson in the ruck. Perhaps the unpredictability of that allows our mids to get on their bike a bit. Lots more movement in the middle there.
  3. ****ful umpiring both ways so far. It’d be great to watch a game and not notice the umpires impacting the game for once.
  4. [censored] rule just handed Saints a goal. Get rid of the rule and let defenders defend instead of standing around like witches shags for [censored] sake!
  5. Trash umpiring costs Brisbane the win at the end. What a surprise! Sick of umpiring being so inconsistent and impacting the outcome of games so much!
  6. Pretty much agree with the above post by Accepting Mediocrity. I don’t like the way the rules been implemented due to even more problems and inconsistencies from the umpires as a result. It was just unnecessary and doesn’t solve any problem. It was also rushed in without trial and clearly wasn’t thought out properly. It’s frustrating the AFL keeps trying to manufacture higher scores so they can get more revenue from ad breaks at the expense of the games quality. More goals equals better footy is incorrect. The old Swans vs Eagles stoppage fest grand finals were better viewing than any grand final of the past 5-10 years. The intensity of repeat contests and finally breaking through was far more interesting to watch than aerial ping pong under little pressure.
  7. Stand by early observations that it’s a [censored] rule. Any rule that is reliant on umpires to make snap judgement and communicate it while somehow watching both the player with the ball and the player on the mark is never going to work. I think we’re all just sick of rule changes designed to artificially create scoring opportunities that are often having the adverse effect. New rule change to fix another rule change to fix another rule change etc. It’s tiresome and the game’s getting progressively worse as a result.
  8. Another thing of note, though I don’t have stats, is reduction of boundary throw ins. The Pies vs Dogs match had one boundary thrown in I saw. One. For us, less stoppages, less contest, and less opportunity to capitalize on the most dominant tap ruckman in the league.
  9. Yep. Less stoppages means less contested situations. Contest is our strength and the new rules minimize situations we excel at. We’ll likely struggle against highly skilled and well drilled possession based teams like West Coast.
  10. Just won an auction and bought a house. Melbourne are winning. This is the best day of my life!!!
  11. Can’t attend today as I’m going to an auction to try and buy a new home. Wish me luck! I’ll be watching online this afternoon and hoping for a better first up effort than round 1 the last few years. Fire up Dees!!!
  12. Good to see all the rubbish new rule changes made to increase scoring are working out well...
  13. Can we have Bailey Smith please? Exact sort of midfielder we’re crying out for.
  14. Substitute gets announced an hour before the game. Hoping to see Bowey as the sub to potentially get a run if needed.
  15. Is the team line up announced yet? The match is tomorrow...
  16. Fair point. If there’s less stoppages as a result of the new rules and game styles, then our strength (stoppages and contests) is taken away and our weakness (clean kicking and maintaining possession) is magnified.
  17. Having a good game. Happy to see him do well.
  18. Premier: Richmond Runner-up: Bulldogs Wooden spoon: Kangaroos Moving up: Freo Set to fall: Collingwood Brownlow Medal: Martin Coleman Medal: T Lynch (Rich) NAB AFL Rising Star: Rowell Best new Demon: Brown Demon All Australian: Gawn, Oliver, May Demon B&F: Oliver Big call: Buckley sacked first half of season Ladder prediction: 1. Richmond 2. Brisbane 3. Bulldogs 4. West Coast 5. Port 6. Saints 7. Melbourne 8. Geelong
  19. Watched the first two episodes last night. It’s pretty good so far. Dew comes across well. He would’ve been a good coach for us... Betts is very likeable, as is Sloane. Simpson and Cameron seemed like nutcases!
  20. Yep tried going through Telstra account and via link in AFL app. Keep getting stuck at the last hurdle, then it loops through to and discount disappears and it asks you to confirm $25 a month. Happens on both phone and computer. It’s something to do with being an existing user, and I can’t even use a different email as it asks for your mobile during registration and then says phone number in use already ? Thanks anyway!
  21. Is Lockhart or Bowey playing down back? We need to find a replacement for Jetta ASAP. He’s one of my favorite players but he’s coming to the end of his career rapidly.
  22. Not even watching the game. I admire Vanders and loved the intensity and aggression he brought when the club needed it 6-7 years ago, but he hasn’t impacted a game of footy for over 3 years now and is 29 years old. Couldn’t be an easier list decision than to delist him IMO.
  23. Yep their whole system is broken. I’ve contacted their online support and solution they have was to send a link to the registration page. How these companies exist is beyond me. [censored] pathetic. Have Bowey or Laurie got a touch yet? What positions are they playing? Bowey HBF and Laurie HFF?
  24. Let me know if you’re able to. I just tried and get stuck in a loop no matter what I try. I can’t even give them my money to watch at this point!?!
