Kayo broken for me. It is the ****test thing I’ve ever paid money for. Such a worthless money sucker platform. 2/3 matches so far it won’t load. Can’t even pay to watch the ducking game anymore. The AFL media deal is pathetic and against the spirit of the game.

On form we should win comfortably, but GWS will be fired up at the start as it’s their last hurrah today at 0-2 and abysmal contested differential last week. Should be a slog and poor quality game. Just need to banks the 4 points and get back to a few games in a row at the G.

Collingwood losing by a point after the siren is the next best thing to a Melbourne win. What a great night!

Step one - don’t send out finals brochures before we’ve made finals! That 2017 [censored] up was like salt in the wound for members when we stuffed up in the last round and didn’t make it.

Your Top 5 Demons Players of All Time
Lord Travis replied to Craig Drinker's topic in Melbourne Demons
Travis Johnstone - best kick I’ve seen in red and blue. Loved watching him stream up the wing of the G and hit Neitz with a laser on his chest. He copped a tag every week due to his impact and ability. Loved he was a big game player who always stood up in finals. Lead the league in kicks and score assists. Underrated despite never reaching his full potential. David Neitz - champion of the club and a great leader. Could perform well both as a forward or defender. Leading Melbourne goal kicker and games captained. Only 300 game player. Legend. David Schwarz - knee injuries stopped him becoming the best player in the league. His 1994 season was incredible. Loved his athleticism and marking as a kid. For a big guy he was freakish with his ability to evade and weave through traffic before slamming through goals. Allen Jakovich - most exciting demon I’ve seen. Would kick bags and bags of goals and pull insane scores out of his [censored]. He was an old fashioned footballer. Back injuries robbed him of becoming a great of the game, as he was on track to being one of the greatest goal kickers of all time with huge average goals kicked. Fastest player to 50 and 100 goals ever. Adem Yze - like Travis, a silky kick. He excelled off half back, midfield and up forward. Kicked some brilliant goals too, a real talent. It annoys me he’s often remembered for struggling at the end of his career and not being a gun throughout most of it. Oliver and Gawn close to entering my list, but will wait until post career to judge. -
Jake [censored]!?!

Side note: Langdon is definitely a superior wingman to Hill and cost half the price. We nailed that trade!
-
We looked better with Jackson in the ruck. Perhaps the unpredictability of that allows our mids to get on their bike a bit. Lots more movement in the middle there.
-
****ful umpiring both ways so far. It’d be great to watch a game and not notice the umpires impacting the game for once.
-
[censored] rule just handed Saints a goal. Get rid of the rule and let defenders defend instead of standing around like witches shags for [censored] sake!
-
Trash umpiring costs Brisbane the win at the end. What a surprise! Sick of umpiring being so inconsistent and impacting the outcome of games so much!
-
Pretty much agree with the above post by Accepting Mediocrity. I don’t like the way the rules been implemented due to even more problems and inconsistencies from the umpires as a result. It was just unnecessary and doesn’t solve any problem. It was also rushed in without trial and clearly wasn’t thought out properly. It’s frustrating the AFL keeps trying to manufacture higher scores so they can get more revenue from ad breaks at the expense of the games quality. More goals equals better footy is incorrect. The old Swans vs Eagles stoppage fest grand finals were better viewing than any grand final of the past 5-10 years. The intensity of repeat contests and finally breaking through was far more interesting to watch than aerial ping pong under little pressure.
-
Stand by early observations that it’s a [censored] rule. Any rule that is reliant on umpires to make snap judgement and communicate it while somehow watching both the player with the ball and the player on the mark is never going to work. I think we’re all just sick of rule changes designed to artificially create scoring opportunities that are often having the adverse effect. New rule change to fix another rule change to fix another rule change etc. It’s tiresome and the game’s getting progressively worse as a result.
-
Another thing of note, though I don’t have stats, is reduction of boundary throw ins. The Pies vs Dogs match had one boundary thrown in I saw. One. For us, less stoppages, less contest, and less opportunity to capitalize on the most dominant tap ruckman in the league.
-
Yep. Less stoppages means less contested situations. Contest is our strength and the new rules minimize situations we excel at. We’ll likely struggle against highly skilled and well drilled possession based teams like West Coast.

Can’t attend today as I’m going to an auction to try and buy a new home. Wish me luck! I’ll be watching online this afternoon and hoping for a better first up effort than round 1 the last few years. Fire up Dees!!!

Can we have Bailey Smith please? Exact sort of midfielder we’re crying out for.
-
Substitute gets announced an hour before the game. Hoping to see Bowey as the sub to potentially get a run if needed.
-
Is the team line up announced yet? The match is tomorrow...
-
Fair point. If there’s less stoppages as a result of the new rules and game styles, then our strength (stoppages and contests) is taken away and our weakness (clean kicking and maintaining possession) is magnified.
-
Having a good game. Happy to see him do well.

Making Their Mark - Amazon Prime Documentary
Lord Travis replied to At the break of Gawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watched the first two episodes last night. It’s pretty good so far. Dew comes across well. He would’ve been a good coach for us... Betts is very likeable, as is Sloane. Simpson and Cameron seemed like nutcases!
