Trent Burgoyne
It should be added that for much of the time he was at the club, he was in some form of rehab and was unable to really show his wares. Hope he takes up a place at Casey and works his way up through there.

TRAINING: Friday 9th December 2022
I was driving southbound down Punt Road this morning at around 10 and there was nobody to be seen on the training track over at Goschs Paddock. Does this mean that the club trained elsewhere today?

In Jason Taylor we trust!
It’s always been an advantage for a ruckman to be mobile. Nothing new at all.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I really do like this draft and hope that Melbourne can somehow trade it’s way into a better draft position with its second pick to make it even more interesting for us.

Mature Age Players
That he’s a damned good footballer who would fit into and improve most AFL midfields. Worth a look for Melbourne but I have no definite information that we’re interested.

Mature Age Players
Heard a whisper about Claremont’s Bailey Rogers who won the Sandover Medal this year. Aged 24 and very talented. Would make a good fit in our midfield - that’s how good he’s supposed to be!

COVID & AFL 2021
We’re being told that the lockdown’s over but there are restrictions and regulations which will continue to apply for some time.

Charlie Constable
Charlie Constable is one who really has me stumped. He was an All Australian Under 18, a tall midfielder who had a terrific start in 2019. Played in a big game in Round 1 for Geelong vs Collingwood with a win on the G. For his round 2 performance he had 31 disposals and a goal in the Cats’ 80 point smashing of the Dees at GMHBA Stadium. That effort earned him a nomination for the 2019 AFL Rising Star award. From there, his career went backwards and after a 12 game career at the age of 22, he’s been delisted from a club that’s starving for youth. He’s been outstanding at VFL level with big possession games averaging more than 30 disposals a game and getting more than 40 in consecutive games. What’s wrong with him?

The Trade in Draft Picks
Is it just me or what? When I first saw the heading of this thread, I thought it was going to be about the slave trade.

2021 Phantom Draft
The experts are suggesting that the number of players to be drafted in the main draft will be somewhere between 50 and 60 (leaving aside rookie elevations). The number last year was 59 and with the continuing pressures on finances and list sizes, it’s likely to be less than last year. On that basis, it’s highly unlikely that Moniz-Wakefield would attract a bid in the draft. More likely that if the club wants to take him, it will list M-Z as a Category B rookie which it can do if he goes undrafted.

The Trade in Draft Picks
Depends on what we want out of the draft. Some clubs need points protection to ensure that they can match bids on players (eg Collingwood with Nick Daicos) while others want specific players or player types and the comfort of knowing they’re likely to be available at a particular point in the draft. I suspect we might be after the latter but I have no idea as to who.

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
East Fremantle 7.13.55 won its Colts final against West Perth 3.8.26 this afternoon. Taj Woewodin didn’t hit the scoreboard but managed 23 disposals (12k, 11h), 8 marks and 5 tackles. He’s consistent!

Max Gawn and Chris Connolly on The Front Bar
Max was outstanding as usual and I hope that people support Jimmy’s Reach Foundation - it’s a pity the opportunity to support this worthy cause has been marred by the lockdown. If we would have had a crowd for the MCG game, it would have helped raise much needed funds. As for Connolly, I’d forgotten about his great sense of humour.

Rd 19 vs Gold Coast in Darwin
Spare a thought for those who booked a trip to the Gold Coast to coincide with the game at Metricon Stadium (which replaced a previously trip cancelled because of the lockdown at the end of May)? Little wonder that our travel industry is facing bankruptcy.

Next Generation Academy 2021
Using the mid season draft to advance or back your argument isn’t really helpful. What it means is that a number of clubs have used that draft to satisfy their needs for the type of player who usually takes years to develop because they are loathe to take such players with valuable early national draft picks. It’s only the outstanding young ruck talents who get selected in the first round of the national draft. It remains to be seen whether Mac Andrew falls into that category.

VOTES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
6. Clayton Oliver 5. Christian Petracca 4. Ed Langdon 3. Max Gawn 2. Jake Lever 1. Luke Jackson

CASEY: Rd 04 vs Sydney Swans
A few clubs have byes - they might be able to organise something around one of those clubs but most likely a scratch match and not official game.

Breaking the hoodoo.
You’re quite right demonstone. The festival was in July and Dylan was booed by many in the audience when did an electric version of "Maggie's Farm" – the booing got worse when his band played "Like a Rolling Stone", the song he originally recorded in the Columbia Studios in New York on 15 June, 1965 for the Highway 61 Revisited album.

Kobe Farmer
Now that Josh Mahoney’s left the building someone will do something to get us a better deal from the AFL than we have now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Two Browns and two Smiths would be an interesting combination.
