I totally agree with everything Mick Malthouse had to say. Let's hope Mark Neeld and Mick Malthouse still talk often.

I found a positive article in regards to Max Gawn and his knee rehabilitation. I really hope he can fully recover and become our number #1 ruckman at the Melbourne Demons in a few seasons' time. Here is the article in question:- Gawn's strong resolve I would also like Max Gawn to aim to become the strongest player at the Melbourne Demons if he builds up in the gym for the whole year. Doing a PE Teaching degree at Deakin University will also keep him busy. All the best to Max Gawn in his recovery! GO DEMONS IN 2012!

Hmmm....still wondering who our other Major Sponsor will be? I'll put my faith in Cameron Schwab to deliver the goods and find the MFC a big Chinese company for us though.

So any idea who may pick up in the Rookie Draft tomorrow then? Can we have some predictions? I'm hoping we get Jai Sheahan....as for the rest...I'm not too sure? Perhaps Marley Williams?

If somebody could take a few photos of training and put them up here at Demonland it would be greatly appreciated! -
Players available in the Pre Season and Rookie Drafts
Supreme_Demon replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are quite a few there that have potential. If we can rookie at least 3 of those named in that list I'd be extremely happy! Personally, I like the sound of Jack Crisp (a tough hard tackling midfielder) as well as Jai Sheahan (a tall forward with exquisite foot skills) and Andrew Boseley (a really competitive defender who has lots of character and determination). A talented quick, crumbing small forward would come in handy too! Anyways, I'll leave it up to Barry Prendergast and the rest of the MFC recruiting staff to make the correct decision. -
Asking Mark Neeld questions?! That would be pretty impressive if you get that chance! I think the main question would be.... "Mr Neeld, how do you intend to change Melbourne's Culture and how it continually seems to accept mediocrity? Will you promise to do whatever it possibly takes in your power to make our Club ruthless in its determination to win that 13th Premiership?" Yes that's more than one question...but I thought it was a good start.

I am very pleased with the fact of how it seems that Cameron Schwab (and Mark Neeld) pulled out all stops to get Mitch Clark to the MFC. To get a player that we "need" in the forward line is a massive coup for the Demons! We haven't really landed a "big fish" since we got Jeff White from Fremantle at the end of 1997. Coincidentally, Cameron Schwab was involved with that as well! To think that a few months ago Cameron Schwab had his head on the chopping block by the MFC board! I must admit that I've always been a big fan of Cameron Schwab...but I will say that I hope he continues to do well as the CEO of the Melbourne Demons and can get the opportunity to extend his contract at the end of next year. Having said that, Cameron Schwab now needs to concentrate on getting a new "front jumper" sponsor for the MFC. Hopefully we will end up getting the Bank of Melbourne as has been touted will possibly happen. Congratulations to Cameron Schwab and his hard work!

Greg Denham is nothing more than a "scribbler" he's not worth worrying about too much! Having said that, I must admit I was annoyed by his insulting comments towards the Melbourne Football Club. I suggest we gang up on him next time he's on SEN Radio with KB. The number is 9429 1116 Let him know that if he feels the urge to put down our Club without giving a possible solution that we will NOT cop it from him or anybody else! I don't mind hearing constructive criticism. But if somebody is not going to offer a possible solution to problems with the Melbourne Football Club and simply want to "bag out" our beloved club then they can go and get stuffed!

Well it seems that we have decided to "move on" from the mini-draft seeing as we have now missed out on both O'Meara and Crouch. Personally, I'm quite disappointed... But I have faith in Tim Harrington as I'm sure he didn't want to do anything that would mean it would cost the Demons far too much for a young kid. Here's the link about the topic: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/125016/default.aspx I hope we can still get at least one or two trades done...although it's not a massive deal if we don't. I just don't want to see any of our players leave for nothing!
-
I heard that on SEN radio too! Hopefully the Demons get something decent in return from the Gold Coast...??
-
I don't like the idea of this "loophole" I personally think it's cheating the system! GWS to keep Jeager O'Meara is quite greedy in my opinion! Anyways, I doubt that the AFL will allow it to happen....but I could be wrong?!

I would love to see the Demons get a player of Brad Crouch's quality. I think that Jaeger O'Meara is out of our reach...but you never know? Whoever we get, the most important thing is to not give away "too much" so we end up losing out.

Well it seems that Brett Lovett the former Melbourne Demons player has been sacked as Coach of the Sandringham Zebras in the VFL. Here is a link to the article about it: http://www.theage.co...1009-1lft3.html Perhaps he would be a good replacement for Garry Lyon as "Director of Football" .....?? However, I suppose it is up to Mark Neeld and the MFC board. I would prefer for Garry Lyon to stay at the MFC in some capacity though. Anyways, I would like to hear people's opinions on whether or not we should consider offering Brett Lovett a job back at the Demons?
-
Last I heard we may possibly be getting Bank of Melbourne as our sponsor as well....?? However, I haven't heard much about that lately. Keeping Hankook or Kaspersky would be fine.

Chris Connolly is a brilliant salesman! I remember him doing a great job promoting Fremantle when he was coach back in 2006. Get him to dress up as Father Christmas for all the schools around Cranbourne and give out Demons jumpers as Christmas presents for all the kids!

Non-negotiables for the Dashing Demons
Supreme_Demon replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
1) LOOK where you are kicking the ball! Don't just blaze away! 2) Do NOT hand-ball to a player who is stationary and/or under pressure! 3) Always do the 1%ers such as tackling, shepherding, smothering etc. 4) Constantly TALK to your teammates and let them know what is going on around them. 5) Show leadership! Actions speak louder than words! 6) Always put your body on the line and never shirk a contest! 7) Play aggressive and tough football. Go HARD at the ball from start to finish! 8) Back up your teammates and help them whenever possible in a contest. 9) Practice goal kicking when ever you have spare time. 10) Never give up! And always give your all when you are out on the field. That's my 10 points....for non-negotiables. -
Seeing as Fremantle has just sacked Mark "Head Job" Harvey. I think that inquiring about Leigh Matthews as coach for the Melbourne Football Club becomes more important than ever. Alot of people here seem to hold ridiculous "old grudges" against Leigh Matthews for things he did almost 30 years ago! I think getting the best coach available for the Melbourne Football Club to help us win it's first premiership since 1964. Anybody who thinks that we should not look at EVERY option available to us to get the RIGHT coach for us in a fool in my opinion. If Mick Malthouse isn't available...we need to think outside the square!
-
Well I reckon if we can't get Mick Malthouse then we should definitely look into asking if Leigh Matthews would consider coaching the Melbourne Demons. There's no harm in asking is there? The worse he can say is NO? With Ross Lyon off the list...we have to start thinking outside the square. Besides the slim possibility of Mick Malthouse there is only Mark Williams left....unless we wanted Rodney Eade?! I think Leigh Matthews would love the ultimate challenge of coaching the Demons to its first Premiership since 1964.
-
I like Leigh Matthews. I admit he was a "thug" but (believe it or not!) he grew up barracking for the Demons as a kid. Of course he ended up being a champion player for Hawthorn and won Premierships at Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions. But why not give Leigh Matthews a call? Why not at least look at that option? He is a 4 time Premiership coach! You don't get any better credentials than that! Mark Robinson from the Herald Sun agrees. As can be seen from this article here: http://www.heraldsun...f-1226137241269.

TAKING THE PISS OUT OF THINGS SCULLY & MFC
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks I needed a laugh! -
I like it! Get Stronger...Get Better! I agree totally as well! We need to DEMAND from the AFL that we are compensated for losing Tom Scully! He was our number 1# draft pick from 2009! We deserve the same compensation that Geelong got for losing Gary Ablett Junior! The Melbourne Football Club needs to come out and take a stand! We can't be seen as a bunch of wimps that just let others screw us over!
-
Arrrggghhhh!!! I'm very angry at this! Tom Scully went for the money $$$$ it's plain and simple! All I can say is that the Melbourne Football Club better scream and yell at the AFL to make sure that we get compensation picks to make up for losing our number 1# draft pick from 2009! We deserve at least two top 10 draft picks just like Geelong got for losing Gary Ablett Junior! The Melbourne Football Club needs to stand up to the AFL and let them know that we will NOT be screwed over!
-
If the Demons don't get Mick Malthouse it will be either Ross Lyon or Mark Williams. Leigh Matthews as the darkhorse....
