  1. ...when no-one bothers to tease you about pathetic losses (ie GWS) ....because it's the norm .
  2. We stayed for the full game because my son wanted a kick on the ground after it. We ended up laughing at some of the comical attempts some of our players presented. Aside from that I can't disagree with most posters here re fumbles and lack of effort. However, one thing that we missed was having forwards to kick to. Numerous times groans went around the ground when we kicked backwards but when you looked forward, there were only gws players ahead. We need forward targets at least. Anyway, as supporters, we had lost interest by the end....performances like this kill any passion.
  3. What went wrong - Having every Melbourne player in the defensive 50 metre area and still allowing Brisbane space to take marks inside the arc.....added to this, the bombing clearances from Melbourne that went straight to the line of Brisbane players ringed around just outside their attacking 50 metre line...uncontested. - Jack Watts had chances to put body on body and regularly just missed getting to the contest. He is now the best pointer at the club as well.
  4. Add to that the TV cameras showed vickery I in the stands having laugh and joke with those around him. May have just been unlucky to be shown at that time but not good to see if you're a supporter. Wasn't it Martin that was shown in that light for us a couple of years ago ?
  5. I might be misinterpreting the general tone/meaning of the thread, but the rules state that the boundary throw ins must be directed towards the centre of the playing field.
  6. Sad that in a post started to try and get support and commiseration, we still get supporters getting involved in [censored] fights, name calling and petty squabbles. I was looking forward to seeing Mitch play with Dawes and hogan. Get well soon Mitch.
  7. I guess that's why after his latest garbage I heard on wednesday no one mentioned it on here because no one listens to him. He was enjoying teaming up with a geee-long supporter ("they only support no 13 and come on number 12 at Melbourne you know) and after this guy said he must get a lot of flack from Melbourne supporters he said yeah but they're only Melbourne supporters. What a waste of space he is.
  8. Aren't their doubts over Swallows knees holding up to run in the midfield ? Not sure about any Adams downside ...
  9. I like Craig and I believe he is respected both inside and outside the club. He is a steady influence And I would like to see him stay at the club in some capacity. However, I would have thought that if he is auditioning for the coaching job he would have promoted some of the better players in the VFL to have a look at them. Taggert is one such case. After having kicked 5 last week and Byrnes being out I would have thought it a good time to briing him in instead of Rodan. I would have had a look at Davis playing down back as well. Maybe their cards are already marked... At times I wish we could have insight into the thinking of our team selection...it does appear to differ greatly from supporters views at times .
  10. I wouldn’t mind getting Robinson. While not being the most skilled, he seems driven and we need extra size in the middle. We need extra depth and I believe he can supply some of that. If we could also bring in Sewell (not sure of his contract status) and perhaps Adams without giving too much away, we could improve the midfield in the short term. Optimistically, if we could also snag a couple of very good young midfielders in the draft then we are looking much better. I would also hope the new coach will be able to get the best out of the current players with better structures and systems, we have a very good goal to goal line when all listed players are fit and available.
  11. I think the coaches have a lot to do with it, but also the players need to take responsibility for their effort. It is difficult to pass a relevant comment on who's to blame I believe, unless you are privy to coaching structures and strategies. I regularly see the opposition mids have 2 -3 quick handpasses at centre bounces that end with an opposition player metres in the clear streaming towards their forward 50. We have 2 or 3 handpasses that end with a scrum or kick/handball sidewards or backwards. Is that a deficient midfield strategy or lack of effort by the players ? Probably a bit of both in my opinion. It must also be disheartening to be streaming downfield and you receive a handpass at your feet from a short distance, causing you to pause and try to pick the ball up under increasing pressure with no support as Garland had to do from Watts on the weekend. We do need to be smarter and not just after the ball like a group of schoolkids. It just easily creates a loose man and then we get punished. I don't think running 2-3 metres behind a player puts too much pressure on them either. It would be good to see some urgency, spirited tight marking and intelligent handballs to players in the free, not players that are about to get slammed. I'm tired of watching the same crap each week.....as I guess we all are.
  12. Bit early on Kent, I've seen some glimpses of intelligent play from him to suggest he's worth persevering with...and he's still young and in his first year. Jones, I agree with some of the other posters that he's just a player at this level albeit also in his first year. Hopefully they both improve next year.
  13. Agree. He's only played a few games and Clisby is a star ? I hope he turns out to be one, but has a long way to go in my opinion. He shows potential, but whether that develops, I guess we'll see.
  14. Agree with this, with the addition of Davey out and Taggert in. 2 of Norths first 4 goals were gifted by Davey and I saw no extra effort to get ithem back. I would also like to see Davis at some stage so perhaps Clisby out and Davis in as well. Clisby hasn't done much wrong though so if Terlich isn't available he can take his spot. At some stage we need to ge a look at Tynan, Davis and Taggert to see how they go.
  15. From memory (and there weren't too many to remember) one of our goals was also created by Dunn kicking long straight down the centre from a kick-in. It looked good and a goal came of it. Mark that down to most of the supporters behind the goals screaming for it to be kicked long. I think it was the only time we did it.
  16. I don't get it that many players are so accepting of being a laughing stock and the butt of so many jokes. The just don't seem to have any self pride at the very least. Do they know people laugh at them, make jokes about them ? If no-one is arsed to put i any effort, just close the doors and supporters can find something else worthwhile to do on weekends. There's plenty of local footy where at least you get effort on the ground. There's already supporters doing this, and efforts like this will only turn more away.
  17. I want a competent, experienced, previously successful coach that can buy into the club and wants to coach. Roos gives me the impression he is not that interested in the job. I heard his comments this morning on radio and just don't think he's interested enough to take on the job. I don't want someone there just for the money. As we are forming a panel for the selection of the coach and Roos says he's told Jackson he is not interested (and will advise Jackson if that changes) I think we are in the process of moving on. Roos appears to be number one choice but if he doesn't want it, we must move on. I still think Eade and Williams are the favourites if Roos doesn't want it, and I would favour Eade. I saw a lot of the Swans games under Eade and they rarely put in a collective bad performance/effort. I would hope he would have a similar affect on the club that John Northey did when he was coaching.
  18. Today looked like a team down on confidence with no real game plan against a stronger built, better skilled team with a strong game plan and and a willingness to commit to it. I thought the defensive effort was ok to good (seing as the game was mostly played in Geelong's half) but our transition to attack was virtually non-existent for most of the day. I was disappointing to see tackle after tackle go in, then someone like Selwood or Steve Johnson would just scoop the ball up one handed and pop in a goal or pass into a free forward. I guess that's the class we are looking for and why they are top 4. We do lack a system but I agree with many that our list is not as bad as some make out. Agree with an earlier post about the commentating, patronising garbage from 'Everywhere' and that dope Dawain. The commentators were going on about how good the drafting for Geelong has been seeing they only get lower picks.....didn't mention the numerous father son picks they got previously.
  19. Nathan Jones on one of the Sunday TV footy shows used 'obviously' many times...Must be a favourite of the Melbourne boys.
  20. At one stage in the game on the weekend Toumpas saw oncoming players and still put his head over the ball in an attempt to gain possession. That showed courage for mine so I don't have too many issues on that front. He is still a kid, getting better with each game. I thought he did ok on the weekend, not too flash, made some errors but was attempting to get into the game. Shows a lot of promise at this stage of his development IMHO.
  21. I don't want to pay over the odds for a coach who only seems convinced by the money (Roos). I just don't thinkj his heart is in it. I would go for Eade. He seems the most level headed and has been reasonably successful at the dogs and Swans. I spent 8 years in Sydney and saw a lot of the Swans while he was in charge. They rarely put in a collective bad game effort wise. They might not have won all their games, but very very rarely could I say they didn't seem to have a dip, regardless of the result. That could have also been due to the type of players he had (Kelly, Kirk etc) but he also got the dogs playing well so whe must have something. Eade has experience, seems to still have the desire and also appears to actually want the job. Ticks a lot of boxes for me.
  22. Agree re Big Maxie. He looked tired in the last couple of AFL games. He's gone back to VFL and done very well. He's missed a lot of footy over the last couple of years so will probably take time to get some run in the legs on a consistent basis.
  23. I thought he did ok in yesterdays game. He missed a few overhead marks but I thought his attitude to work was good. He stuffed one thing up on the wing and then chased and harried until he caused a spill from Collingwood and an eventual ball up. I liked him having a shot from 50 which hit the post a fair way up. I think he showed enough to persevere with.
