  1. Then Majak gets 11 and Deakyn gets 7
  2. Don’t give them a number until they sign on. Numbers are for Melbourne players and continue lines of tradition. When the have earned the right, then they have earned the number. Should also apply to Farmer imho.
  3. We will need to understand how long this will hold him up. I think he and Hibbard might be more backups this year, and other young players might be ready to step up. He will certainly add value to the squad and will be missed if its long term.
  4. Agree. Teams will need 6-8 genuine ‘around the contest’ type players. Ones that can rest forward and be dangerous will be highly prized. Also may need additional players who can support the running backs and wings. The new man on the mark rule May see a lot more running through these zones. training reports had Kozzi running through from half back, as an example. Given our list and plan, this could put us in good shape. A broader balance of inside and outside players that run for longer might be better than 2 superstars looking for their pension and a group of nuffies. this may impact guys like Melksham and Hibbard (even Jones) getting games as well.
  5. Hop on an aeroplane and make the best pilot into the cabin crew because you are short there?? Max is the best ruck in the league. Lets not lose that. Short stints to rest - ok. Max is #1 ruck, lets not have him serving peanuts. Even with sideshow and Sam out for a bit, this would be a death knell for the club in 2021.
  6. I believe the protected zone goes in all directions around the player. This idea might be useful at a kick for goal, but having essentially 2 on the mark leaves an opponent unmanned somewhere in front of the ball.
  7. Does invitation to train offer us first dibs? Is there anything stopping someone offering them a contract, or us offering other club’s train on players one?
  8. My condolences to the young man at this terrible time. Richo’s response was a great example of how to do it (Eddie, take note). Something along the lines of ‘we dont know, but we have Matty Whelan who can help us get it right’ in terms of the cultural needs at this time. Listening with respect is the first step. Well done Dees. I look forward to Kozzie getting back and really taking his game to the next level when it is right for him to do so.
  9. I think it is also about matchups. How do you take opposition structures and processes and find ways to leverage advantage? Teams worked the demons out (corral the aggressive cattle dogs) by outnumbering outside the contest. Geelong played keepings off from half back and opened us up like an aging porn star. Each team will have its core way to play, and as we have seen, Richmond’s fierce pressure game was enough to beat most sides on most days. Once we develop a more robust and flexible game concept with the team we have compiled, it then needs to be shaped to take advantage of the opposition. Unfortunately, we have struggled to get ‘plan A’ going week to week (quarter to quarter) so it is hard to lift to the mighty heights of EPL until we get that figured out first.
  10. MD may not even make ‘demon colors’. He has to impress to gain even a rookie spot. HB - broke all his agreements and cost himself a contract. Bubble and family issues not ideal for someone in his situation, but it was his spot to lose. OMAC - please, please, lets not go there again. How many pages of threads have there been on this poor bloke? He is not in the frame to be a Demon next year, so let it go...
  11. Gets a chance to show he is worth a spot at little cost to the Dees. A good SPP choice.
  12. I feel violated. And I still learn nothing of Kozzie...
  13. Thanks. Picket. Awesome report. Thanks to you and the other track watchers who have made the effort to get down to Casey and give us some insights and opinions.
  14. Eddie should have handled things better. He confused his role as club president with ‘personality’. He has overseen much success in his time at Collingwood, but his media efforts (for someone trained as a journalist) were appalling. He obviously doesn’t understand the role of professional chairperson (as opposed to media spokesperson that he seems to take up). As chairman, his comments were so poorly articulated. What he thought he was communicating and what he actually communicated were vastly different. He showed that he is tone deaf to what is happening and therefore not the right person to lead the deep cultural change required. Gotta go. As a personality, Eddie polarises people. He has been a bogan playing to the MMM/footy show crowd and they love him. All of his poor comments re race have added up. Eddie, this was not about you, but about CFC. Making it about you was where you stuffed this up. That alone should cost you the presidency.
  15. Ben Brown will be available soon after the season starts, so not that problematic. Bad luck to the kid, who seemed to have been developing into that second forward (AKA Darling role) across this pre-season behind Brown. I would like to see how Petty and TMac stand up in the roles, and Dogga to play his part. Probably opens up a range of options further up the field as maybe Rosman gets a wing as TMAc heads forward? Most teams are 1 or 2 injuries to key players away from trouble. I dont think these are ‘key players’ and we can cover them based upon our approach. More worried if we lost May / Lever / Trac / Oliver to be honest.
  16. Nah, lets just go with Goodie’s ‘smalls’ forward line idea that worked so well at the beginning of last year.....
  17. TMAc last man standing as a forward,.....
  18. Should he also be worried about: Richmond = a Hard Wick in a young marketer? hawtorn = a Paton of dik Piks and a Scully issue? Pies- its black and white, but Eddie forgot this in his memo Adelaide = that camp Dogs = Dunkley will bomb on them weagles - closed borders impact coke supplies st Kilda- geary busted leg freo = no hogan gws - hogan swans- Buddy trouble Not too many teams without trouble, hey Cornes-holer? headline should be Dees troubled by caned corns: toughest preseason yet!
  19. Shows how the AFL dragged it out. Submitted Bowey and Laurie at the same time, then it was all strung out.
  20. Go get em Bruce. I hope this leaves you with egg on your face and deepens the pain and suffering of all involved. If it means Hird never coaches again, then I will by him an ice cream!
  21. At least we seem to be training to respond to/ take advantage of the new rule. I felt 666 caught us out.
  22. Note the new rule: May has to ‘stand’ the mark with no lateral or advancing movements.
  23. Kicks 6 in a quarter in a practice hit out. In full training, not in rehab - for the whole preseason so far Swelling detected in knee No rushed for scans, but scheduled 48 hours later (Perhaps when acute phase of swelling has concluded) The sky is not falling, in my humble view. Suggest this is to make decisions regarding load and management rather than ‘season ending’.
  24. An atrocious response. Completely tone deaf, and is an astounding real-time demonstration of the problem that they have. No apology, ownership, contrition at all. Trying to essentially say ‘it’s an industry problem and we should get special marks for noticing it first’ is a disgraceful cop out. When the report says individuals have been harmed, this response is morally, ethically and socially unacceptable. Mrs Nekkid said “in the TV reports they didnt even interview a non Anglo player” - i had to let Mrs B down gently that Collingwood have none of these at the moment. (But maybe some of them like chinese food?). Imagine if Nev had gone there - would have been wheeled out as the token indigenous player to carry the can. Thank god he stayed, he deserves much better than that. Eddie is posturing for Eddie. He is doing great harm to CFC.
  25. This sounds like positive forward thinking - perhaps what was missing with the 666 change. Using speed to run off players on the mark and getting quick inboard chains could really open up the attacking 50. On this basis, Hunt is the fast distributor off hb, Kozzie rolls up to the centre from F50. We also have to be smart and be able to defend this as well - our quick players have to ensure the roll off / hand off / 45 degree outlet of the opposition is shut down and players one kick down dont lose their opponents. The idea of slowing the game and flooding back was a key part of the swans game plan - they might struggle if this rule opens things up. Glad we are working on something to do about it.
