  1. I would not want to trade Weids unless he a) demands to leave, and b) there is a significant upside offer on the table for us. Weid is a good young player that is still developing. OK, he is not yet a 'great', or a 'superstar' - but your footy team rarely has more than a few of those in it. Weids is developing nicely, showed plenty in a few games at VFL level this year, and did OK (again not great) in the AFL. I think we will see a big step up at VFL level next year, with some AFL games - and in 2019 he will be a solid (sometimes spectacular) contributor to our forward line at AFL level. Worth hanging on to, unless something significant is on offer. A required player, but not 'untouchable' for mine.
  2. Adding two teams to the comp and giving oodles of priority of talent selection means that the 'depth' for everyone else- including us- was diminished. GWS have no problems with depth. The Swans had 10 players on the park yesterday that came from their rookie list. FMD! Depth relies on selecting talent, developing it, and getting rid of those who don't fit the bill. We need 'depth', but first we need a core list that pushes the squad to either do what Is required or be 'depth'. I don't think we have a core 25 yet. I reckon we are about 70% of the way there in terms of 'talent', and about 60% in terms of development (including the leadership, resilience and mental stuff). I think I would have rated us 40%/40% before Roos. we are on the way, but we will have 'depth' only when these parameters are improved again for 2018. I agree that being ruthless in holding everyone accountable for their actions is part of it.
  3. I am so bloody sick of all of this 'redemption' [censored] about the bombers. It was self imposed, knowingly CHEATING on an organisational scale. No fairytale here. I hope the Swans absolutely tear them a new one tonight. Shame, scum, shame.
  4. The AFL will want a Sydney team and a 'fairytale'. Watch the umpiring assist on this basis. Now Adelaide got up, the Swans should get the lollies from the maggots. Personally, I want the Bombers to get such a flogging that Daniher thinks he is in the showers with Jobe. Adelaide let us down last week (bastards). Port are pretenders, and the [censored] away from Symons lose their three best players (usually wearing Yellow) and will require Dangerwood to be prolific. WCE are flat track bullies and likely straight set losers, even though Port have no chance in later rounds. Richmond are an interesting case study. Ninth last year, flag this year sounds like a trend I could follow... So, Sydney,Richmond, Port.

If Adelaide get up, the Swans should get the lollies from the maggots. Personally, I want the Bombers to get such a flogging that Daniher thinks he is in the showers with Jobe. Adelaide let us down last week (bastards), so would be nice for them to pay the price for dropping form. 6. How can you tell the bride at a Collingwood wedding? she is the one in the new Mokkies.
  7. What does a Collingwood supporter use for protection during sex? A bus shelter.
  8. Goody has just made an announcement about the end of the season and his 'disappointment'. Seemed quite measured, and suggested that only GWS and us have made 'linear improvements' over the last 4 years. Pretty good company on that measure. What are your thoughts?
  9. So ask yourselves this question: get rid of Frosty - a known quantity, tall, fearless at 1%ers, fast and athletic, and get a draft pick or alternate player, or keep him for two years and see him develop? to me, it was a no brainer. Some say depth, some say developing. I say worth a punt. Go Frosty!
  10. I imagine the rapid goal scoring patches of opposition came from: 1: being completely smashed at the centre bounce and fast take aways. 2: terrible delivery inside 50 for fast rebound and goal. When we were grafting, the opposition scored, but not in those patches. This has been the game style- make it a contest, win contest, score. I think we now need to add outside run, better passing accuracy and quicker in game tactical changes to avoid these mini routs and take us to the next level.
  11. So he has been woeful in 2 VFL finals. Not good for the CV, is it?
  12. The question is not if he is any good, but is he what we need? I imagine we have a clear idea of what we need, and outside midfielders might be it for this trade and draft season. If medium forward is not on that list he will go elsewhere, or on our rookie list at best. Looks good, though.
  13. If its done, they can put the cue in the rack. 1 point or 100 is no difference in finals. Can ease up and prep for next week.
  14. Some perspective: Goodwin did his presses after the match. Nate Jones did a presser after we missed out. That is enough. Realistically, no one is interested in us any more for the year. Did the Hawks come out and apologise for their season? Did Norf? Nah, it just sux the big ones in the way we came 9th. Richmond have been doing it for years. All focus now should be on the teams that made the finals, and all the tin-arse individual awards. (I'm looking at you Macgrath of the Bombers, least deserving rising star EVER, and only at the Bummers because they rorted their drug cheating year.) Expect statements at the Bluey, and in the year book things that will clutter my letterbox. Not before - we dont deserve to be heard, we were irrelevant and 9th. We deserve to hurt. And I HATE being a laughing stock of other fans. I have to restrain myself from punching Bombers fans in the face. Smug [censored].
  15. So how does it actually play out? retirements announced as the clubs and players finish (none from the seniors, unlikely any from Casey finals players.) post season reviews happened or happening relative to VFL commitments. (So about 14 still to do as they are playing for Casey?) list review. Hard decisions made. Probably happening now. I expect players will know where they stand (required, trade possibility, likely delist if can't find another club). players make their own decisions (Spencer as a free agent, Lever begging to be traded to us), inform the club. trade period delistings prior to list lodgement. Does this sound about right? So realistically we will have little news- maybe just some good rumours- between now and trade period. I hope we are 'surgical' in our approach this year (no scattergun!) and can Leverage the type of talent we need to round the team out for finals in 18.
  16. Lever will say nothing until the Crows finish their season. Quite rightly, his focus should be on winning a flag this year... before he nominates us and works at winning another next year... as for your missus...can she take a decent intercept mark?
  17. Basterds rubbing my nose in it.
  18. OK, a couple of days have passed. We have heard the glib (expected, no very placating) statements from the club. Reflections? It was actually exciting to go to the footy this year. We were in most games, and we were much better to watch when we were 'on'. Best game: Bulldogs. 4 quarters of awesome! Best result: West Coast! What a last minute win!!! Best players: Oliver (how the Fukui did he not make the AA squad!), Trac, Viney, TMAC (forward) Jones, Hibberd and Milkshake (great pickups!). Cameos from many others. Disappointments: Kent. Lumbar puncture (why wait until after list lodgement to decide you are not up for it!). Max (back end of season). Bugg (that hit). The umpires! Injuries. Will they make it? Stretch, JKH, Hulett, White. I believe the Swans game was the beginning of the end for us. We were absolutely smashed defensively that day, and we only ever played in fits and starts after this. Were the young guys too tired?? Did they slip back into bad habits? Issues: Ruck and contested ball winning in the back part of the year. Defensive spread in the midfield, exposing the back 6 too often. Inside 50s, forward pressure, forward targets Too many crap quarters Not being able to smash teams when in front Panic handballs Inability to shut down opposition marks Ability of the whole group to stick tackles Predictable off the back of the square bounce strategy Not being able to counter a loose man behind the ball (Intercept marking made easy. Make Jeremy Howe look good) Kick ins I am absolutely gutted by how we missed the finals. It sux to be us right now. I will be really pizzed off if they don't take this as a kick in the arse and develop some resolve. Not turning up on Saturday was a crime.
  19. Not WHY we will be better, but 'we will be better if': 1. This hurts like hell, and inspires the team to never let this happen again. 2. We use the off-season and preseason to continue development of key young talent. In particular, build their tanks to run out the season playing Goodie's go nuts style of football. 3. We list manage properly. Fill our gaps and build our stocks. Get rid of those who dont fit what we are building. 4. Develop the game plan - perhaps add a few variations and strengthen the core behaviours. 5. Have a better run with injury, and stupidity (MRP). 6. Change our mentality and TURN UP when we play teams we should beat and smash them. 7. Get a good draw because we finished out of the 8.
  20. I am shattered. I am not yet ready to look at any positives. I simply want to use lots of swear words. This is a season wasted.
  21. Now they are tackling like us! Giving Lever a taste of what he is for!
  22. Hilarious, we rely on a team to play us into finals... and they play like us! Oh, the irony!
  23. I hope the coaching group and players choke on this. They should be ashamed of themselves.
  24. [censored] umpire [censored].
  25. Really, Demons? Unfortunately I can believe that you were insipid and couldn't get it done when it was needed. Lived up to expectations. Not sure we deserve to play finals, on that performance we are only making up the numbers. Give our spot to a team that gives a [censored], and will play for it.
