  1. financial semantics ...surely..
  2. why would a paid employee purchase a membership?? Sorry Neeta..ya cant play without ya card mate !! lol.. I dont think so
  3. Are there any truly suitable venues in Honkers ? for a fair dink 18 a side game ? curious I believe there is some momentum also to be had via the sister city set up. Not having been to China yet I am not familiar with the lay of the land as it were. Showcasing the game will rely to a degree on good venues...as they say..presentation !!
  4. There is I think a danger when considering any such panaceas for the various difficulties that the MFC or indeed any club faces that the observer linits their horizons to a limited number of solutions. No one single field of exploration and mentoring will likely yield all answers. Ideally you are going to be involved in a number of projects . China is one. There are some fairly real cultural differences to overcome, especially in the way sport is played but that seems to be changing just as quickly as the rest of its dynamic shift in living. its a bit like the shampoo ad, it wont happen overnight !! But you have to be in it to win it as they say. Im sure it would be the bravest of seers who can predict exactly the manner and scope of any benefits. As is China so is Africa. Id like to see us participate in this foray in some way also. There will be some real participation from this continent in the not to distant future...especially if "gumby' Mugambwa is any indication The thing is China has to be seen as part of a plan..not THE plan.
  5. lmfao !! ) from the folks at the AGED http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/demo...2090323803.html Caroline Caroline Caroline.. !! stop hitting the turps so early gal !! I would hardly say we're in TURMOIL !! maybe a party or two.. but no depresssion at Deeland I suspect !! Caro...i think youre reading the wrong side of the loo paper dear !! Harris might think its that way.. but the MFC will continue on with its rebuilding and restructuring of the relative departments. Caroline my dear.. in case you hadnt noticed the trend.. we're getting performers in..and underachievers out !! CAC might be the exception to that Melbourne has been around for 150 years....many of that suprisingly enough without Steve Harris, Im sure we'll survive without him ( probably better id guess )
  6. now ..everyone ....repeat after me... GONG HEI FAT CHOW !!!!!!!!! :D
  7. A new CEO, is SH to blame ? well I conversely put it out there, who else is to blame if not him? You wear those shoes, you take the good with the bad. Its been bad...time to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. http://www.afl.com.au/InternationalCupNews...px?newsId=54870 damn shame ... no really !! would have been more satisfying to beat them full strength as it were.. still ..a win's a win
  9. Recruiting is very much at the hub of things.. but for all intents and purposes its over for the moment. The scouts will I have no doubt start many fresh pages and augment others as the year goes by but given we've just effectively changed 25% of the team I'm more preoccupied with the here and now than a tomorrow 9-10 months down the track. the season hasnt started..im not even thinking of recuits other than those on the track !!
  10. why ?? all the recruiting is OVER.. nothting to see here move on as they say. Come October this year we may well be far more interested in what he's come up with !!
  11. They can train undergound at area 51 for all I care.. it maters not to me if they wish to make it a 'behind closed doors" thing.. My only want is they accomplish something from all of this. That what counts !!
  12. Still as an aside...can we take from this that the team in general isnt going to stand for stuffing around.. ?? maybe the club is maturing, taking ownership of its destiny. Im going to take this as a positive sign.
  13. I find this all kind of funny in a deja vu sort of way. I will say there are few players that seem to polarise this place quite like our Brad !! A lot of vitriloic lampooning mixed with denial seems to surround this plagued chap..that just is !! Also what is ... Is ? is that this is a player of limited ability. he can be good ( in a manner ) at times, but its a very narrow type of effect. He does at times show great promise. This is what irks most... some show of a "player' often rudely interupted by distinct and unequivocal medicocrity !! Most often his good is on a day when the rest is bad.. not 100% what to make of that..just interesting. Im going to make the call now...and am no less happy than any pig in sh!t should I be proved wrong, he is a very good VFL player that occasionally by luck, by chance plays above himself and delights his following with titlilations without substance. I am genuinely stuffed to think how he holds a place in this lineup..but he does. Not only that bit Bails thinks he has promise. wel one would think so after so long, but Im only a pundit..a spectator and i will for the moment give over to those closer and more intimate with the goings on and 'wait and see" ( once again...no holding breath though ) Some have had the audacity ( cheeky sods ) to suggest that attitude and showings at training dont necesarily translate to on field pro-ess.. how dare they input 'REALITY" into all our preseason dreaming !! The total irony of any murmurrings directed towards Miller is that we know he can do something.. we ( the majority it seems ) just dont quite know that THAT is !! If he can be 'something ' of effect.. something positive on the field of battle then many of us will happily swap flags and swing behind the Miller is ALL camp. Questions to those that dispute our position to question : how long do we wait ? should he occupy a spot when others show as much if not more potential? and the piece de resistance !!...does he know which way is forwards ?? please discuss )
  14. I sense Bailey is not only plannig for the future but accomodating the immediate transistion period about to impose itself on the Dees. Those that play Chess might have an idea of what is going on now. Im quite prepared to watch this season and see how the leadership issues pan out. 2009 will be a different kettle of fish for sure.
  15. Neeta capt !! Shock, Horror..surprise !!! lol.. bit of a yawn really ...nothing to see here.. however... the real surprises are indeed Ooze and Frosty. I'll refrain from my first reaction and consider the 'lateral' Are we going to see a vastly different aspect to these lads this year ? That wouldnt be a bad thing. Ill wait and watch on this one. Is this the start of the magic of Bailey starting to show at Demonland ?? watch this space
  16. do you get a lot of young families ..kids..both genders along to a soccer game.. A -league that is?? Clear enough !!
  17. I have a sneaking suspicion I dont want THAT demographic at AFL games !! I dont want segreation I dont want to see outright unruly beahviour I dont want meaningless violence I dont want to see flares I like that anyone really can go to a game and enjoy it as a spectacle without supposedly the necessityof going in 'numbers' The age, gender and cultural diversification of your average AFL game is marvellous...Not all codes get this.
  18. Segregation... wtf ?? you want to go back to the dark ages ?? One of the beauties of this game is the audience is a little bit more evolved than some sports. I agree with MB..as much as I loathe the team...am happy to sit with them...all part of the banter etc. Aussies Rules is a game for all folk.. not just nutcase one eyed antagonists. A few other sports could do a lot worse than follow us not the other way around !!
  19. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E20322,00.html Love him or hate him ol' Clogs is if nothing else an honest footballer. He doesnt possess 'buckets' of talent which he then proceeds to squirrel away denying his team full effect, no, he's just a head down at it type of player who sometimes has good days.. sometimes ones we all are loathe to remember. But he tries.. he tries 110% He is also amongst the very few that can go body on body with those pesky forwards and niggle them, and hold them. Now whilst talking about bodies and niggles it is a little surprising to this reader at least as to the extent of Benny's injuries. He's prepared to put the hard yards in and be a contributor to Melbournes resurgent 2008 season and Id like to wish him all the best in this effort. I found this article doubly initeresting for the mention it makes of the new school of thought and application at the Junction Oval. Its called the School of Football 101. At this school Football is taught..and in the good ol 3R's fashion.. i.e the basics..how to kick...how to handball and dare I hope .. how to shepherd !! Geez Im liking this Bailey bloke more and more. So as the new year is ushered in I hope that many down on the track watch ol' Clogs and his application. I hope they take on board that here's a bloke thats honest in his footy and take a leaf out of his book. Many are more talented than him, many will have more miles left in their legs, many will be around long enough to see real success. Holland will probably miss out of this but the kids could do worse than emulate his attitude. Good lucky Benny
  20. Bit of a storm in a tea cup isnt it. My lay appreciation of costs are you cant account for them til they are incurred..As such it would be an 08 item.. .. Doenst matter really in long run. Just another chance to stick the boot into the Dees !!
  21. then they can write to the afl and ask for compensation.. seriously Nothing in life is without problems.. often not of ones doing.. Yep..Id be [censored] too.. but id do as suggested Im quite happy the game is moved.
  22. caveat emptor
  23. long story short... who gives a flying fig !!! WE effectively have another HOME game !!...ahh must be Christmas !!
  24. Have a happy Christmas all.. not too merry as not to have you all back here in the new year.. to wax lyrical enjoy the resurgence
  25. I realise.. was careful not to say...only a male thing.. but compared to Aussie Rules or League its very much spot the chick !! And I wouldnt in my wildest dreams consider EPL a 'family' outing . Ive only been to 3 English venues.. The Lane, Highbury, and Wembley.. the latter being a friendly..and was ok to watch.. the other games were full of 'igniition point' vibes !!..Its very different there...cant speak for Europe..would only be heresay. A little goes along way there.. get a hundered sods all all chanting and it reverberates.. and everyone joins in.. Just not conducive to that here..... its a different culture ( thankfully !! )
