  1. cannot understand playing oliver in the vfl unless it was to ensure he qualifies for the vfl finals. he's our second best clearance player already, in his first year.
  2. meanwhile, bombers are smacking the blues at the g.
  3. i seriously would look at what offers would be on the table for brayshaw. his disposal is not even close to vfl-level.
  4. cats by 100+ coming up. we have gone on holidaze after dropping our bundle last week. players not putting in, not wanting to take the hits, and a serious lack of second efforts. disgraceful finish to the year.
  5. good to see the cats getting a home game run from the maggots.
  6. Jones of the N variety gone with a hammy too? Could be a triple digit result easy.
  7. Wants to go to North, whose Doctor has said that they can fix him in six weeks.
  8. It's more what we give up to get him that concerns me. I think he'll help us add depth and skill, but I still say he's a solid but unspectacular player. Same as his old buddy Melksham who I would argue has more variable attributes which makes him a more beneficial depth player, whereas Hibberd should be a lock-down best half-back. However, he is completely one-sided and limited in terms of flexibility in a game that is increasingly becoming about variety of roles that can be played and skills that can be executed. If we pay more than our 2017 second round pick we've been gypped.
  9. Shaw was a general at the pies and he's a general at the Giants. Hibberd is a solid foot soldier. He'd absolute be best 22 for 14 or so sides I would guess, including ours, but I fear we will way overpay for a solid player who is limited to only playing one position.
  10. jesse spent the entire game against carlton leading up at the ball carrier - it's why he clunked 14 marks against them. his kicking let him down. kennedy also has an unconventional action, but he's made it work for him over the last decade - but, like jesse, he started off hot and cold. and kennedy's first two-three years were nothing compared to hogan's.
  11. adelaide looked flat from the get-go. missed a golden opportunity. sydney-hawthorn grand final it is?
  12. i wonder how many see him in the best 22? i know i don't. but do i see him as part of our best 30? absolutely! if we get bit by the injury bug, then we need players who can come in and play a disciplined role. jack can play multiple roles: - as an inside mid, which is probably his best and most 'natural' position, meaning he'd replace the likes of jones, viney and tyson if they were injured - as a half forward moving through the midfield a la vandenberg and to a certain extent brayshaw at the moment, and - as a defensively-minded wingman, where bugg makes the side because he has greater pace than trengove does, and as it stands matt jones as first likely rotation in for that role ahead of trengove trengove is next cab off the rank for a host of roles, and i - as well as the football staff, clearly - have faith that he's able to play the roles required with discipline and fitness required. he has experience and a good football brain. if we simply replace him with a draftee we're getting someone who has to get to the aerobic fitness and game preparedness in less than a full preseason, as they don't join the club until basically the first week of december. it's one more year, with some football in 2016, and a pre-season under his belt. we weren't going to get anything for him as a trade, so why not keep him and let us see what he can do.
  13. Great news. Now for a massive preseason and back in best 22 in 2017!
  14. I still don't see the massive appeal of Hibberd. He's a 27 year old one sided half back flanker who has never been able to be part of the midfield rotation. In modern football more often than not yr back 7 consists of a genuine small (Jetta), three talls (Mac x2, Frost) then a rotation of ostensible midfield runners who rotate back. He strikes me as a classic 'good, ordinary' player and I cannot understand what massive benefit he would bring to our side.
  15. Not enough quality to them I'd say. Think more like Brayshaw and Salem for O'Meara - just don't think it's worth it for us.
  16. Has missed so much development time it's super hard to gauge his potential or what role he can play. I always saw him as a bit of a Hodge - capable of playing the sweeper role, capable of playing as a hit up half forward, capable of moving thru the midfield. But he's missed so much footy it's very very hard to judge what he is going to be.
  17. Gold Coast want players not picks. Salem, vandenBerg etc aren't going to cut it. i don't want us to trade our future potential on a bloke who hasn't played in two seasons. I fully expect him to go PSD #1 to the Peptides. It's a disgraceful state of affairs.
  18. hasn't been the same in 2016 since hurting his shin against the power in the alice.
  19. IN: Garlett, Grimes, Trengove OUT: Kent, Michie, Bugg time for grimes - and possibly trengove - to get a farewell game in the red and the blues?
  20. Good kicks, smart kicks, and clearance players.
  21. Don't see how - he's not going to win centre clearances.
  22. Agreed, I said as much the same to the source - my guess is just a bomber trying to justify losing a best 22 player. Like the velvety sledgehammer saying keeping Hurley and Walla = more important than having those dudes plus Hibberd.
  23. Got this from today someone involved at the bombers: "Rumours swirling that Hibberd has been offered around 725k for 4 years from the Dees" That better be a joke. No way he's worth close to that.
  24. Hogan is a terrific mark but flat chat one of the worst kicks imaginable. Takes too long to make a decision, makes the wrong one and executed poorly too regularly.
  25. Looked flat from the get go. Very Dee-flating
