Any person that says this doesn't effect the club or players this year is kidding themselves. Every single interview the Frawley question is asked. It was the same when Tom Scully left, no effect rubbish, it is a massive distraction for the players and club.
-
Good to see they have responded to the challenge
-
Wing, he has the tank and is a better get out option than our rucks. I think the reason why he is playing down back is to learn a defensive game. Once he gets this I can see him on the wing
-
He is not forgotten, just can't get a game. I think we might see him line up on Saturday, it is going to be a slog they will go with a bigger body instead of Salem or Barry.
-
I think 7 list spots would be about right. I dare to say we will go in with a similar strategy to last year, our first round pick will be on the table for a midfielder and try to pick up someone on the DFA market. If Frawley goes that pick will be banked for an early pick another midfielder

I still think they will keep him out for the year, if the timing is try 4-5 weeks for Casey, a couple of games down there, if he is right hopefully we see him our last home game against GWS at the MCG and then he gets three games this year, we then get on him for NAB rising star next year.

Because most of us attend the games or watch the games and we form our own assessment of the players. If the players do what they are asked they get a good report.

My changes Out: Terlich, Salem In: Blease, JKH When we moved the ball quick our three talls worked, add in Jamar that kick 3 goals, Fremantle aren't tall down back, this could stretch them. Blease and JKH come in just some one that can run with the football, take the game on. Line up Jetta Frawley Dunn Grimes Garland Nicholson(gets Hayden B) Vince N Jones Howe Watts Pederson M Jones JKH Dawes Gawn Jamar Viney Tyson Blease, Bail, Barry Sub: Kent I would like to free Nev Jetta up a bit to play a more attacking defender, same with Dunn.

The Run Home - Race for the spoon
drdrake replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's funny how different people assess the season, the way I look at it, we have had 1 game that was over at half time the rest we have still been in it. There has been 4-5 matches that up until half way through the last quarter we have had a chance to win. It is now turning these should of won games into wins, turn back the clock we should have beaten the Bulldogs twice, Saints, Gold Coast, Port and even GWS, games that we were in until late in the last quarter, even Collingwood that Vince non Goal, you turn them into wins we are a top 8 team. -
Yep, we have 10-15 players that are AFL level, the remainder playing are either developing or not up to it. Sorry, Nicholson, Terlich, Bail and M Jones you can have 1 maybe 2 in your side but 4 is to much. Then add in Salem, Kent, Barry, Gawn that are developing into AFL players but not there just yet. Then there is the depth, Toumpas, Hogan, JKH, Cross, McDonald are the only players that were missing yesterday with the first three still developing. Not much else down at Casey or injured at the moment. You almost bring Blease in to give him 3-5 games to see if he has learnt anything this year. The positive is we have players that this time last year we had written off Pederson, Dunn and Jetta come to mind that are now AFL standard, to think what we had last year to now, I wonder if this Melbourne team played the Melbourne team from last year how much would it win by, to me about 60 points, we are a 60 point better team than last year but we are still 30 points short on where we need to be.

Dumb footballers lose matches, we have to many week in week out. Frawley is number 1 on that list just error after error
-
Go, get out of our club.
-
With that report, if McDonald isn't right I would like to see Gawn come in Frawley sent back. Leave Pedo as permanent forward, in doors roof closed Dawes, Pedo and Gawn can work

Casey was a top 4 team and we were fairly close to the worst team in the competition. Now we are approaching being that 12-14 place team with a VFL team that is struggling. We cleaned out a lot of players that weren't AFL standard but very good at VFL level, now we have still some players that will be cleaned out and others are developing. We are starting to use the VFL like other clubs have for many years, pure development with little scoreboard focus. Each player from what I've heard is told what they need to work on, they are moved around into different positions to make them work on their weak areas.

Can someone please tell me what is the difference between a stand alone MFC team to what we have at Casey at present? My understanding is all Melbourne listed players are playing in the ones besides 1 International player that will be gone at years end. It seems that Casey are playing the same game plan as Melbourne and players are being played in the positions that I think Melbourne are dictating to them. Even if we have a stand alone VFL team we still need 10-15 VFL players to top up our team. Our biggest problem with Casey is the MFC players down there aren't good enough. We may have 3-5 that have any chance of playing regular AFL Footy, the rest are there until they get delisted. From Saturday the only blokes that have a chance to be regular AFL footballers IMO are Toumpas, JKH, Gawn and Mitchie. We have a couple developing that it is a little early to make a call but not many. Add this to the VFL Casey players being average it gives you an Average team. The years of premiership glory with Sandy and the finals with Casey where built around strong VFL players and borderline AFL players.

For how bad we played at the 5 min mark of the third quarter we were a goal down. We stopped for 10mins and the game was over. The difference is we have a dozen players that are consistently good with the the footy in hand, the rest are hit and miss. What we need to find are those attacking HBF's, I hope that Toumpas can play this role and we find others. Blease will come in this week for Salem, I still reckon send Frawley back, bring in Gawn and have Pederson as a full time forward

Would be good in Sydney at the SCG, don't want to host it in Melbourne.
-
Don't want it, get the Anzac eve and keep the queens birthday.
-
The next step is backing up, winning two weeks in a row then three weeks. Getting on rolls instead of one win here and there. That gives everyone confidence that you can win on a regular basis.
-
Great win, I want to beat North. For some reason I just hate North Melbourne, I don't know why but I really want to back up yesterday with a big win over North then get a win over the bulldogs. It is time for the club to get some consecutive wins, that is the next step.
-
Nev had a couple of games last year down back that showed this was the position for him. I think credit to Rawlings for both Dunn and Jetta.
-
I reckon Out Terlich, JKH, Gawn In Kent, McKenzie, Riley Salem as Sub
-
This is easy a fit Hogan and Clark playing we would be at least 6 wins maybe even 8. All the sudden we talk about making finals. We need to replace Clark with another tall forward and we need attacking Half backs. The other is a ruckman

WELCOME BACK TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - NEVILLE JETTA

Nev has one thing a couple of our borderline players lack, a big heart and the willingness to do the team 1%ers. He actually enjoys body contact I don't know if others do. -
WELCOME BACK TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - NEVILLE JETTA

Nev's biggest issues were his fitness, injuries and position. The first two are related he couldn't stay healthy to get the required fitness. The last point was also related he was never a small forward but due to his tank he couldn't play in the midfield. His defensive and team acts have always been good, another player that a move to the other end of the ground has saved his career. He is one of the few players on our list that takes the game on.
