  1. I'm sure they ran this year as a handicapped race, so Fev had a head start
  2. Not to many would sit in the positive, if you keep throwing darts you are bound to get a bulls eye at some stage
  3. Because every team has a salary cap and a poor team will have more $$$ to spend. Sometimes a poor team can also sell potential, look at us we have done this for 10 years and we still can attract players, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Dawes, Clark
  4. Should do the same for Demonland
  5. Geelong are fading correct, but you add Clark and Frawley to that side and all of the sudden they stay a top 4 team for the next 3 years and have a chance to pinch another flag. Unfortunate for us we just happen to be at the bottom end of the ladder for free agency, the way it is working at the moment the top teams are getting players to top up their list.
  6. Jon Ralph and other Journo's take punts on stories, like us here. We assume that because we have low picks in the draft we can get Dangerfield and that is correct if he chooses to come to us we have the tools to execute the trade. Ralph is doing the same if Danger goes and Collingwood get pick 4 hey are in a position to get the deal done. It is really a process of elimination, these clubs have no chance these clubs do and it looks to me that us and one or two others have the capacity to get the deal done. Whether Dangerfield leaves who knows I would be extremely surprised if he does.
  7. I reckon Bulldog supporters are saying pick 3 for Frawley Good God I dare to say Bulldog supporters will be extremely upset if we get Pick 3 and they get a mid 20 pick or worse for Higgins. Ward V Scully still burns them
  8. To me if he wants out there are only three clubs that will be in any position to offer Adelaide what they would want. St Kilda Pick 1 and most likely second round pick Melbourne Pick 2 and second round pick or Pick 2 and Three(based on MFC getting this) and a swap of later picks for Danger and Crows first round pick Western Bulldogs Pick 5 and 6(based on getting this pick for Higgins) and swap of picks later in the draft All three clubs have the money, it would be just getting him to commit. Once he does any of these three clubs will be able to meet Adelaides needs
  9. Sorry Hulk, this is our only chance to get him, if he goes into free agency we have no chance at all. Free agency as it stands is all about stronger clubs getting stronger. The trade works this year, for Adelaide they will get better compensation by trading him to us, for us it rules out nearly every other club in the competition.
  10. If Danger wants to come to Melbourne, I don't really care what we give up for him as long as he comes. For all those worries about what we have to give up don't be we just need to get the deal done.
  11. Clubs did have a marketing fund outside the cap and I believe they still do but the AFL needs to sign off on this being given out.
  12. Yep, would be great if Monday next week Danger comes out as states he wants to be traded to Melbourne. Once this happens the trade will be done, we have the picks that can satisfy Adelaide. One thing you can take from Roos and Sydney, that once the player agrees to come the deal gets done quickly. Look at last year, the Tyson and Vince deal, as soon as they agreed to play for Melbourne the deals were done no stuffing around and the only club to lose out was Fremantle.
  13. It had one slide only with one simple point " 5 over 5 "
  14. His biggest problem was Mark Neeld, Trengove was the most effected by Neeld. He took it on himself to implement Neelds defensive came and it stuffed him, he became a robot and lost his ability to play football. He has never been quick but he knew where to run and he could run all day, he lost that he ran to the spot he was told to run to and lost his ability to read the game. The year off is best the best thing for him, hopefully he can be re-programmed to what he was prior to Neeld
  15. No more important than the improvement of Michie, Viney, Tyson, Toumpas, JKH, Barry, Watts, Salem, Kent, McDonald, Gawn and Hogan. For us as a club to move up the ladder it isn't about Trengove, it is about him and all his mates around the same age improving.
  16. Adelaide will want 2 and 3, we will want Dangerfield and their first round pick, to make it work I think swapping second round picks will also be needed. All we need is Danger to want to come to Melbourne and Frawley to announce that he is off with the AFL giving us pick 3. It is going to be a long three weeks
  17. Its the only way we will get him. If he is a free agent we will struggle to get him, free agency isn't geared for clubs like ours to lure big names. We are attractive this year because we will have the picks that Adelaide would want to execute the trade, plus the money to lure him.
  18. Mitch Clark fit and healthy playing for us. To see the three tall attack of Clark, Dawes and Hogan with JKH, Howe and Kent in support
  19. Adelaide might entertain as well. Are they still out of the first round of the draft this year? They might think if he doesn't go this year he will next as a free agent and if they have a good year might result in a pick in the teens. Trade this year get a top 3 pick and a sweetener.
  20. Let him go, get Harry O swap their third round with our fourth round pick.
  21. I like the hat
  22. I think even PJ acknowledged the club was in a fairly good place financially last year. I believe the only debt the club carried was for the buying of licenses for our Pokies. There was a hell of a lot of one off payments to staff last year. He did tweak the structure which was needed but we had a good base. One thing you need CS for is the foundation heros, the cleaned the debt up and gave the club a chance. They did try to stuff it up but thankfully we landed a good administrator to put us back on track.
  23. Get him playing at Casey next year, preseason with us. He is big enough to play senior footy.
  24. To me there are two out comes, one he plays for Melbourne or 2 he walks as a delisted free agent to who ever he wants to. All this talk about trading and compo picks, don't get excited the club he chooses doesn't need to trade with us and the AFL couldn't care less.
  25. I would say we as a club have done OK out of free agency. We stuffed up getting Byrnes as it effected our return for Rivers and Moloney but Sylvia was a win for us and if Frawley goes and we get a Band 1 compensation this again will be well overs for Frawley. To get Pick 3 for him gives us every chance to get a deal done for a better players than Frawley.
