Watts doesn't have the tank, he is a burst player. I reckon time to put him a full forward, drop Dawes, Hogan out to CHF. Give Watts space in front and behind. I reckon he needs all the play in front of him. Vince on the Hff, we need him with the ball kicking inside 50m.

Post Match Discussion, Pontification and Prayer

Yep, I look at Casey on the weekend, there was one kid ANB that really may be a half decent AFL player in the future, the rest same same no one to get excited about. We are 2-3 years behind the dogs and Saints and maybe a little ahead of Carlton. -

We are irrelevant, no one is supprised any more it is almost an expectation that we put up performances like we have over the past three weeks. I can't believe that there is no pride at our club. We have been beaten into submission for so long that our players have no pride left. Our club is a pay cheque to these guys and that is it, because if it was more they wouldn't put up with the garbage they have put up for the past 9 years. We have some good kids, I hope this resignation of failure that our current senior players have isn't passed on to them. I suppose the best thing is free agency for these players they can get out in their prime. It looks to late for Watts and Toumpas, failure is entrenched in them. -
100 points today, when you can't execute the basic fundamentals of the game, fans have every reason to switch off. I just can't understand how any afl footballer can get a game if they can't kick, how do you get drafted if you can't kick. Nathan Jones has no defensive bone in his body, he is reminding me of Moloney, do what he wants and always 5-10m off his man
-
We all jump all over Jack Watts, interesting to see Dom Tyson sitting down the bottom with 1 vote, he has been extremely disappointing this year
-
The worst thing is there is no body to be excited about playing today. ANB and Oscar MacDonald excluded who else that played today that would improve our seniors? Shows our depth is very shallow

I reckon Full Forward Deep inside 50m, tell him long straight leads and hit the contest, simplify the game as much as we can for him, to me Watts thinks to much.I expect this to be at Casey though

Bail will need to come in, need some sort of speed. Fitzpatrick would love for him to come in, Dunn playing on monster Forwards is not fair on Dunn. Line up Grimes MacDonald, Fitzpatrick Dunn garland Salam H. Jones Vince Bail Pederson Howe Garlett Hogan Dawes Jamar Michie Brayshaw Tyson, JKH, Cross, Vandenburg Out Watts, Mckenzie, Newton

Actually it's the opposite, he leads to the most dangerous places, dangerous for two reasons, one if he gets it we will score, and then the other if he doesn't they will score. That's why IMO a lot of his leads aren't honoured our players don't one have the confidence to hit hit and two the confidence in him. Yesterday though he just didn't work, he didn't want the footy to come anywhere near him and I noticed he spent a fair bit of time on the bench

The end of the day Howe says to his manager, either get the deal done with Melbourne or find me a new club, It is easy. A player manager has little say he does what he is told.
-
Don't be supprised if he heads West if he does leave. Believe the purple docker may be into him and with good reason, that was late last year but things do change.
-
Should be a great night, I expect 55-65,000 people, a bit of luck with the weather will push them up
-
Dawes has to ruck as second ruck, he hasn't offered anything as a forward over the past two weeks. Friday night it will be a little slippery bring in Mitchie, Cross to Cotchin.
-
Dawes in for Toumpas with Vince to get another run at Casey. Line up Jetta MacDonald Dunn Salem Garland Howe H. Jones Newton Watts Dawes Kent Garlett Hogan Frost Jamar Tyson Viney Brayshaw, JKH, Vanders, Cross
-
yep all about membership revenue. A club visited my kids school offering free family memberships.
-
Wait until this kid starts to believe in himself at this level, he will one day and be a very good AFL player, I just hope it is with us.

Due to the late start to pre-season games, the Asia Cup, AFL hasn't had much coverage. It is only really this week we are starting to see the media ramp up. Most years we are at least into the pre-season matches by now, we are still 2 weeks away, once this starts you will have that spike in membership.

Talking point: the unevenness of the competition
drdrake replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
On this topic, who cares it is what it is. The reason why the MFC isn't one of the big clubs is purely our fault and it isn't recent it stems back to the period from our last premiership till the next final series we played in. Our club lost 2 decades of supporters, we then had a period of success with out winning a flag and we attracted new members, the last 10 years once again you lose a decade of supporters. Our club was a power house that lost it's way. The issue since the late 80's early 90's the landscape changed for the better and we got our list right basically for 20 years say from 87-2006, we had some momentum going into 2007 but we lost that very quickly. With the MFC, one thing we do have is a lot of bandwagon supporters, if we start winning games we have the ability to draw 50,000+ against most Victorian based clubs and get close over 35K against clubs like Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and WCE. Outside of improving our performance the rest is out of our control and we can't blame or expect change until we do. -
A social club, somewhere in the MCG for just our members to drink all members, The Jim Stynes room is ideal, would love to see the premium members moved from the Hassett room to the Jim Stynes room.

I agree with this, I reckon his biggest asset will be his ability to work hard both ways and sustain his run. More importantly he is able to spend time in the midfield and have the running capacity to do this. Give him a couple of years and I see him as an outside wingman, him on one side Stretch on the other
-
From Initial reports Jetta finished a bit better than mid Field, I would say Nev would have smashed his PB and would be very happy with that. You are taking about a guy that has always struggled endurance wise. You might find he left nothing in the tank that is why he didn't front.
-
With out being there you would find that less that a minute would have covered the players mentioned. Some players are elite runners at 3km to get with in 1 minute of these guys doesn't mean you are less fitter than them it just means they have the capacity to run at a higher speed for the 3km. Lets face it a 3km time trial is to monitor your own progress not you against the team, I'm sure we will have a much fitter Tyson and Jetta and everybody else than we had last year.
-
To me it is your 5 to midfielders, we just need to find away to get the footy in our forward 50m more, N Jones, Tyson, Viney, Vince and Cross. Then we just need to get a couple of players to carry the football, Kent, Salam and Toumpas.

2014 was a Yeah Na season. the 50/50 answer that has crept into society. So much early to say Yeah we are looking half decent then Na the old style crept in and we dropped the ball. I think 2015 will give us more indication than 2014. 2014 hopefully was the finally clean out, both of players that wont take us forward and of mind, the clean out between the ears that stopped us winning more games in 2014.
