No we don't, if players want to go and we get value for them you let them go. Everything must be on mutual terms with a contract if a player wants more than they are worth to the club you thank them and move them on.We haven't missed much over the past two years, Vince for Sylvia, H for Clarke and Brayshaw for Frawley. You even look at Tyson and Salem for Kelly. I wouldnt have Howe or Garland in the must keep category, be good if they stayed but not vital they do
-
Watts as third man up has also been extremely effective and I think he even did a couple of centre bounce ruck taps, one he put down vince's throat, I think Bernie was more shocked that this happened then he hand passed direct to Stevens for a goal
-
If we keep the long kick into our forward line we need someone else besides Hogan take a mark. In Dawes, Jamar Out Pederson, Mitchie Gawn Hogan Garlett Howe Dawes Brayshaw Watts N Jones Vince Grimes McDonald Cross Jetta Dunn H Jamar Viney Tyson ANB Stretch Riley Toumpas

Ok the day after. We lost the game in the last 40 seconds, but we didn't win the game in the third quarter. Hogan miss from the goal square, Jack Watts 35 m out directly in front, a clearance that we should have of won turnover Vince handball to Stevens Goal. Get three Goals up at 3 quarter time the match is ours. Our inability to put teams away when we have the opportunity to do so lost us this game, as it did last week, Port, GWS.

Flood back all

I can't believe that players at this level can't kick both feet for one but read the game. We were to busy celebrating Howes goal, anyone on that field should have been getting the players back. It is basic football, you need to do the basics well and we just showed that we are the dumbest afl football team with zero leadership. The players deserve a massive whack for one putting in a fourth quarter like that and two for having a footy brain between them.
-
Dumb footballers just dumb, leadership leadership leadership, 10 players should have been behind the ball

The flow on effects of injuries to the senior side,

Agree with this, it wasnt hard but it wasn't a regulation Chest mark, to me it looked like he focused on the body work and the ball carried a bit further than he thought. Trying to judge a kick like that with a bit of swirling wind is hard. He should of grabbed it but it wasn't just a simple chest mark
-
Funny how we all see polar opposites with some players, I thought Howe was ordinary Yesterday, dropped a couple of clutch marks that he should have taken, ok kicked 3 goals, only touched the ball 10 times and to me should have been sitting on Oxleys head a couple of times. 5 Vince 4 Cross 3 Viney 2 N Jones 1 Brayshaw

It is a nice position that changes thus week should make us better. In Tyson, ANB Out Vandenburg, Newton Give concrete hands a couple of weeks at Casey, get him 100% before he comes in. The other issue with Dawes he won't ruck, I don't mind what they did with Fitzy yesterday, when White rucked so did he. Hopefully after the bye we start seeing our best 22 play, we need Kent, Salem, Dawes, Tyson and JKH in our line up. I still think a little bit of luck we get 8-10wins for the year. We will get the Pies next time we play them.
-
This is a big for the whole team, St Kilda is a game we should win, we need to win. We lost yesterday, panicked in the first 30 min that is what cost us. It wasn't just one player the whole team panicked under the pressure. We settled controlled the match but panicked when they came back. St Kilda is a bottom 4 team, we need to beat them it is unacceptable not to win this week.
-
More the AFL for the compensation they gave us. All Sylvia cost Fremantle was money, they gave nothing up for him and he filled a need, they had some handy tall and small forwards but no mid size Forward that could pitch hit in the Mid Field, I remember when they got him it was to play forward then run through the middle when Fyfe went forward
-
Clubs aren't dumb, they know where a player is at and what they are prepared to offer, some clubs pay overs to meet a need some pay unders because the other club wants that person out or that player wants out. Drop the mental fragile line and say we have players that struggle for 120 minutes, if these players can't play our style for 120minutes or show signs that they are willing to it may be best that we part company at the end of the year. I think this was more or less Roos line this week but everyone looks at the past for the excuse, the mental weak story gets more traction
-
I think it is more about players learning and there willingness to do what is required all the time not only when they choose to. This is the issue, it's habits rather than mental scars. Our players through the Bailey era ran the show, they then revolted against Mark Neeld when he took the long stick approach and it looks that some still want to play on their terms. That would be examples like Dunn trying to hit a torp to no one, the dramatic drop in pressure acts from a number of players, nothing to do with the past everything to do with the players willingness to do what is required.
-
I can offer up why, like the past 8 years when it gets hard people go missing, this includes current captain. Our players get ahead of where the club is at. I can't believe that players won't man up and make their opponent earn their kicks. We protect space rather than being accountable, it is an easy out. Unfortunately we are 5 years a way until we have a complete clean out of players since 2008 we won't move forward.
-
You are talking about three quarters of our team but you go after one. I'm not saying he was good, I'm pointing out that he is not the only one that should be in focus. we have a number of under performers that we gave carried for a number of years
-
He gets away with nothing, he is the most scrutinised player on our list, we have a number of players that get there pay cheque that continue to underperform and they get to do it with no real heat.
-
We single him out but he was one of 14 players that were extremely ordinary today. Every week the same people jump on him but he is only one player, he cops the most but he has a number of friends that should also be under the same pressure. You jump on him for not tackling, our tackling today from all players was extremely poor, the port players just broke our tackles. Nathan Jones refuses to man up, when we don't have the footy he always trails his man by 5m. Watts was bad, but he is no orphan but others get away with it.
-
In Tyson, Newton, Gawn Out Howe, Bail and M Jones I posted last week we need Balance, Dunn can't play on White so Fitzpatrick stays in. Play the two ruckman, pedo is the perminent forward with Hogan. If Tyson isn't fit bring in Riley or Mitchie
-
Every loss Watts just cops it. The performance of Our team is all about midfield, we have no midfield depth. Today whilst our starting mids were fresh we played well. As soon as they were spent so were we, we just don't have the second string midfielders. Today we basically played 18 players, Howe, Bail, M Jones and Fitzpatrick weren't even out there. No team can carry 4 players that have zero impact. You add another 10 players that were ordinary, it doesn't give you any chance to compete.
-
Team balance, I reckon the games we have won the match committee have the balance right. Go back to changes for the Freo game, few on here were worried about Dunn on the tall forwards, he was getting towelled, some suggested bringing in Fitzy for that balance, it enables Dunn to take the third tall, makes sense. The forward line, it just hasn't worked with the three talls, Dawes has been ordinary, we revert back to two talls with Howe, all of the sudden we score. Playing two defensive forwards worked, unfortunately the two we played are limited but it worked. The two most questioned players on the wings, both gave us skill and run. The back six looked good again Garland was our fourth defender, this is the best role for him, add in Cross and Grimes the balance was good.
-
Agree, he hasn't played for 6 weeks, wouldn't have been able to run much in that time, give him a run at Casey get him ready for Queens Birthday. No change this week, make sure Tyson if fully fit
-
I think for most the glass is almost empty, the glass has been very low for a long time at some stage you need to finish it our top it up.
-
This is it, it's just the norm. We talk about Viney, Jetta and co out but we have one bloke who has played 5 games that really is our watch winner. We have no one with experience that takes charge and effects the game when things aren't going our way. We look good when we get to play on our terms, as soon as the game isn't we have no one that's stands up we just capitulate. This is still our main issue the White flag goes up to easy and once it goes up we all go back to our bad habits.
