  1. Suck we lost again, thought the boys responded ok after the beating they have been getting all week. A few thoughts.. Congrats to Sam Blease first goal in AFL if he can continue that will be awesome Bail runs well and will get better McDonald is very versatile and will be a good player Grimes is stringing games together Frawley needs to watch his kicking close to the boundary The team lost steam and won't start winning if they don't get fitter. I don't think Neeld's game plan is necessarily going to be hugging the boundary in fact I reckon we won't see one style of game or one game plan from Neeld but a few.
  2. Your suspicions are founded in what? I seem to recall that he was brought in by the Chairman to report directly to the Board around the Football Department. Oh wait that's right there was an article on the website about his role. http://www.melbourne...90/default.aspx So I guess he was just rubber stamping Schwab's wishes. Once any decision was made around the new coach it would be endorsed by the Board and it is then the job of the CEO to begin negotiating a contract for the new coach as it is an operational matter. CS would have used a phone because it is cheaper then carrier pigeons, not as messy as smoke signals and not everyone understands morse code in this day and age. But hell that's only my opinion.
  3. lol that's funny coz I have started drinking when the games on now also No I don't think there is, the top AFL teams all understand this and have been through it if we want to compete we need to go through this pain to get the gain. My positives are the Coaches Office, Robbo's Show and even Ellie McKenzies new show. As I live up in NQ any bit of news or info about MFC is wonderful.
  4. David King on Insider said absolutely nothing. So David King spouted what 95% of people with opinions have been saying all week. Irony is he got paid to parrot what everyone else said then added controversy by starting with the coach must go diatribe. Please if I was his producer I would demote him to AFL Teams or even After The Bounce because he might as well have phoned in the so called dissection of MFC. After copying everyone else's words Jason Dunstall plays devils advocate and ask what he would do to fix it. Answer: I don't know. Then backs down when questioned further to say he is not saying get rid of the coach, if he back pedalled any quicker he'd be able look down at his a$$ cheeks. David King the Expert that said Geelong were finished last season they were too old and could not win the flag.
  5. Yawn...do you have another channel or even a mute button. Same old same old, no more blind face, blah blah. Yawn BTW Faith is usually blind it is trust in something that does not rest on logical evidence. So it seems redundant to label it blind faith.
  6. What is his choice? Jackie Listening to David King on Insider tonight he basically outlined all that is wrong with the club and started with the coach but when Dunstall asked what is his suggestion to fix it he had nothing. Apparently King was going to dissect MFC on Insider and it turned into a hatchett job. ,
  7. Wrong Call yes I agree this whole thread is a wrong call.
  8. Keep at it Neeldy don't let the naysayers and the pessimists get you down!
  9. Well spoken young Captain, he comes across as a leader who would have thought!
  10. I read recently a quote by Helen Keller which goes. "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." (I actually tried to tweet it to Neeldy I just hope it worked lol) I believe we are still going through the trial and suffering and I am hoping we can get to the success bit soon, When we do start getting there the sweetness of a victory (any victory) will be so great. I like most of you am getting impatient and sick of saying the next game will be better but I am a realist about couple of things, I am a footy tragic and I still love and have hope for the MFC.
  11. My biggest gripe with him is he always gets caught holding the ball it gives me the $hits, get rid of it already.
  12. lol magnum or blue steel anyone
  13. Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. Helen Keller
  14. Round 8 in their first year and you want to dump them. You see the boys play 2 hours a week and you are going to base leadership qualities on that 2 hours. What about the rest of the time the boys are in recovery, training and reviewing the game week in week out. There are around 286 hours of unknown where the captains are leading we just don't see it. I reckon that Neeld and the other coaches see the attitude and preparation the 2 boys put in on the track as elite and they lead by example with their professionalism and poise. Anyone can lead for 2 hours a week its the other 286 hours that you need to be prepared to do as well. A point of interest did you know that the number one thing people look for in leaders is Honesty.
  15. As I said I was not sure of the accuracy and I did apologies if it had already been posted.
  16. I found this post on the Sportal Forum that is a quote from HUN don't know of the accuracy but its a pretty interesting list. (Apologies if it has been posted elsewhere) http://www.heraldsun...f-1226278832964 I have bolded my potential shopping list The Herald Sun has posted a list of free agents at every club ADELAIDE Chris Knights: 8 years, out of contract Michael Doughty: 12, out of contract Ben Rutten: 10, out of contract Nathan Van Berlo: 8, signed to 2013 Graham John****: 12, signed to 2013 Brent Reilly: 11, signed to 2013 Scott Thompson: 8, signed to 2013 VERDICT: The Crows will be almost untouched by free agency. Ben Rutten has clocked up 10 years, but you don’t get the feeling he would be tempted. There may be some interest from Victorian clubs in Chris Knights, who is classified a restricted free agent. BRISBANE LIONS Josh Drummond: 8, out of contract Jed Ad****: 9, out of contract Daniel Merrett: 10, out of contract Ashley McGrath: 12, out of contract Jonathan Brown: 13, has option for 2013 Simon Black: 15, has clause for 2013 VERDICT: Brown and Black are stalwarts who, depending on the club’s development this year, may seek a move to a club in the premiership mode. Drummond, Ad**** and Merrett are injury-prone, but the Lions would be loathe to lose. CARLTON Jordan Russell: 8, out of contract Heath Scotland: 9, out of contract Bret Thornton: 10, out of contract Andrew Carrazzo: 8, signed to 2013 Andrew Walker: 9, signed to 2014 Kade Simpson: 10, signed to 2014 Jarrad Waite: 11, signed to 2014 VERDICT: Carlton’s list management team has ensured most of its veterans are locked away, but they may have to work hard to retain Russell, who is only 25 and is unlikely to be in the club’s top 10 paid players, therefore is available to any other club. COLLINGWOOD Travis Cloke: 8, out of contract Nick Maxwell: 8, out of contract Heath Shaw: 9, out of contract Ben Johnson: 13, out of contract Dane Swan: 11, signed to 2014 VERDICT: The Pies have three stars out of contract on a restricted basis, but it may be costly to keep them. Rivals such as GWS would be stupid not to throw heaven and earth at Cloke, still just 24. Then the salary cap may come into play. ESSENDON Angus Monfries: 8, out of contract Henry Slattery: 8, out of contract Nathan Lovett-Murray: 8, out of contract Brent Stanton: 9, out of contract Ricky Dyson: 9, out of contract David Hille: 12, out of contract Mark McVeigh: 14, out of contract Jason Winderlich: 10, signed to 2013 Jobe Watson: 10, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Stanton would attract serious interest if he was still out of contract at year’s end, but it’s hard to see him moving. The rest need big seasons to improve their currency. FREMANTLE Ryan Crowley: 8, out of contract Luke McPharlin: 11, out of contract Antoni Grover: 14, out of contract Michael Johnson: 8, signed to 2013 Matthew Pavlich: 13, signed to 2014 David Mundy: 9, signed to 2014 Aaron Sandilands: 10, signed to 2014 VERDICT: The Dockers have already paid the king’s ransom on Pavlich, Mundy and Sandilands, their three highest-paid players, so are almost immune. McPharlin is a veteran playing out his career with the Dockers. GEELONG Shannon Byrnes: 9, out of contract Steve Johnson: 11, out of contract Josh Hunt: 12, out of contract Paul Chapman: 13, out of contract Corey Enright: 13, out of contract Tom Lonergan: 10, signed to 2013 James Kelly: 11, signed to 2014 Andrew Mackie: 11, signed to 2014 Jimmy Bartel: 11, signed to 2015 Joel Corey: 13, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Seven players as free agents is cause for alarm, but Matthew Scarlett and David Wojcinski will most likely retire and free up salary-cap room. Johnson signed a three-year deal after seven seasons, and is now out again. HAWTHORN Tom Murphy: 8, out of contract Clinton Young: 8, out of contract Brad Sewell: 10, out of contract Michael Osborne: 11, out of contract Chance Bateman: 12, out of contract Lance Franklin: 8, signed to 2013 Jarryd Roughead: 8, signed to 2014 Luke Hodge: 11, signed to 2013 Sam Mitchell: 12, option for 2013 VERDICT: Sewell is the worry. If a side in need of a hard midfi elder wanted the 28-year-old and could pay overs, how could he say no? And tellingly, how could Hawthorn ever hope to match any figure above $400,000? MELBOURNE Brent Moloney: 8, out of contract Matthew Bate: 8, out of contract Lynden Dunn: 8, out of contract Mark Jamar: 10, out of contract Jared Rivers: 10, out of contract Brad Green: 13, out of contract Colin Sylvia: 9, signed to 2013 Aaron Davey: 9, signed to 2013 VERDICT: A club like Melbourne with huge salary-cap room should actually benefi t from free agency. But having Jamar and Moloney out of contract is far from ideal. Bate and Dunn could be ideal pick-ups as unrestricted free agents. NORTH MELBOURNE Brent Harvey: 17, out of contract Michael Firrito: 9, out of contract Drew Petrie: 12, signed to 2013 Daniel Wells: 10, signed to 2013 Hamish McIntosh: 10, signed to 2013 VERDICT: North has its key players tucked away nicely, given it has a young list with only a handful of quality veterans. Petrie signed again recently to take away any potential suitors. PORT ADELAIDE Jacob Surjan: 8, out of contract Troy Chaplin: 9, out of contract Brett Ebert: 10, out of contract Steven Salopek: 10, out of contract Domenic Cassisi: 12, out of contract Kane Cornes: 12, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Port does not disclose contract lengths, which makes predictions difficult. But after just three wins in 2011, few clubs would hold too much interest in their list. Chaplin, at 26, might be the exception who needs offer-matching. RICHMOND Brett Deledio: 8, out of contract Nathan Foley: 8, out of contract Luke McGuane: 8 out of contract Kelvin Moore: 9, out of contract Shane Tuck: 9, out of contract Daniel Jackson: 9, signed to 2013 Chris Newman: 12, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Deledio, still only 24, is the worry. If an opposition club came with an $800,000-a-season offer, the Tigers could still match it under the rules, but they don’t want to get into a bidding war. Same applies to Nathan Foley. ST KILDA Raphael Clarke: 9, out of contract Sam Fisher: 9, out of contract Brendon Goddard: 10, out of contract Leigh Montagna: 11, out of contract Justin Koschitzke: 11, out of contract Lenny Hayes: 14, out of contract Stephen Milne: 12, signed to 2013 Jason Gram: 9, signed to 2013 Nick Dal Santo: 11, signed to 2013 Nick Riewoldt: 11, signed to 2013 VERDICT: The problem is not just that GWS is reputedly considering Goddard. It is that Fisher and Montagna are both out of contract as well. Can the Saints keep all three? SYDNEY Jarred Moore: 8, out of contract Nick Malceski: 10, out of contract Jarrad McVeigh: 10, out of contract Jude Bolton: 14, out of contract Ryan O’Keefe: 12, out of contract Lewis Roberts-Thomson: 11, signed to 2013 Adam Goodes: 15, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Sydney will be fine under free agency, because it never loses players it wants, and it has extra salary-cap space to keep them if rivals do come. The more pertinent issue is who the Swans can lure. WEST COAST Matt Rosa: 8, out of contract Mark Nicoski: 10, out of contract Quinten Lynch: 10, out of contract Daniel Kerr: 12, out of contract Darren Glass: 13, out of contract Sam Butler: 9, signed to 2013 Mark LeCras: 8, signed to 2014 Beau Waters: 9, signed to 2013 Adam Selwood: 10, signed to 2013 Dean Cox: 12, signed to 2013 Andrew Embley: 14, signed to 2013 VERDICT: Surely West Coast’s resurgence means those players who could leave for big cash or potential premierships will stay put. Hard to see the skipper Glass leaving, and if Kerr’s body holds up, he will be a top priority for the Eagles. WESTERN BULLDOGS Will Minson: 10, out of contract Lindsay Gilbee: 13, out of contract Ryan Hargrave: 13, out of contract Dale Morris: 8, signed to 2013 Tom Williams: 8, signed to 2014 Ryan Griffen: 8, signed to 2015 Matthew Boyd: 9, signed to 2013 Adam Cooney: 9, signed to 2013 Brian Lake: 11, signed to 2013 Daniel Cross: 11, signed to 2013 Daniel Giansiracusa: 12, signed to 2013 Robert Murphy: 13, signed to 2013 VERDICT: The Dogs’ have already struck a blow against free agency, signing up Griffen. Most of their veterans are locked away until 2013. Only Minson could interest suitors if he has a big season. Top-10 paid player who has played at one club for eight or nine seasons and is out of contract: * Can field offers from rival clubs * Current club can match best offer * If the club matches offer, player must stay, seek a trade or enter the draft * If the club does not match offer, player can move to new club * Original club receives compensation pick for the loss of the player, based on AFL formula Player who has served 10 or more seasons at one club * Can field offers from rival clubs * Original club does not have right to match offer * Player can move automatically to new club * Original club receives compensation pick for the loss of the player, based on AFL formula Bottom-30 paid player who has played at one club for eight or nine seasons and is out of contract * Can field offers from rival clubs * Current club does not have right to match best offer * Player can move automatically to new club * Original club receives compensation pick for the loss of the player, based on AFL formula
  17. Tuesday night I was watching the fallout from Carlton loss to St Kilda and was thinking aint Karma a B!tC#. Last season in July we all remember the Bruise Free Football comment by Mitch Robinson. Now the commentators are all suggesting that Carlton are susceptible to being bullied out of a game. Words like soft were being used to describe them. Its almost ironic that they find themselves defending their toughness and mental fortitude even ex-Blue McClure was sticking the boot in on Grandstand. Swings and Roundabouts aint life grand weeeeeee....
  18. As long as it doesn't turn into The Crying Game I will be happy!
  19. Players in the stand have a life they are not playing on the field they should be able to feel and act the way they want. Footballers need a life outside of of Football. Do you think sitting their depressed and spitting chips is going to do anything to help their team mates on the field. So the camera caught the boys sharing a joke so what, Luke Darcy is a Moron. IMO.When the siren begins the game to when the final siren sounds at the end that is when the players body language and friendliness with the opposition should be looked at. When you look at the players collectively as they walk off the field in a group are they all happy and joking, when you see them in the rooms after the game are they laughing after a loss. when they are being interviewed after the game do you think they are taking the loss to heart. I have seen disappointment, anger, frustration and grief in the players this year after losses a lot more time then I have seen laughter and joking behaviours. A couple of events where people are being human does not concern me.
  20. They say there are no dumb questions but sometimes I wonder. My feeble attempt to answer these feeble questions. ■ Are the players who played under the old coach being confused by the demands of the new? Short answer is NO. Its back to basics for the boys. ■ Are they shaken by the off-field issues that have affected Liam Jurrah and Aaron Davey? maybe but do you think it affects the players every time they play. Are the players going out each week thinking about this issue and feeling burdened about it when they are playing. ■ Are they still grieving the loss of club legend Jim Stynes? Yes ■ Are they befuddled that loyal veteran Brad Green was dumped as captain and the two young men who replaced him, Jack Trengove and Jack Grimes, started last week's game against Geelong on the bench? Captain chosen by players and coaches so why would they be befuddled by their own decision the bench drama is a non- issue it's not the first time a team captain started off the bench in AFL. ■ Are the players angry the club couldn't persuade Tom Scully to stay? TS had 6 Million reasons to leave MFC and those 6 million reasons the club could not answer or better. Why would they be angered by it? ■ Are they miffed that Mitch Clark, who is no better than a good, ordinary player, walks in on superstar money? Mitch was voted by his fellow team mates into the LG. The players have a forward target to kick to and he is averaging just under 3 goals per game and is ranked 6th overall in the AFL for Goals Contributed. Riewoldt, Pods, Hawkins, Franklin, and Taylor Walker are ranked higher. ■ Are they embarrassed that their major sponsor was a dill and had to be replaced? why would MFC be embarrassed by this issue they acted swiftly and with principle when they discovered the problem. So they did not check the CEO's personal Facebook page big deal. ■Do they look at Nic Naitanui and think of what could have been? Why rehash the past when you can't change it. Football teams have to move on really quickly. ■ Do the players get exposed enough to former Adelaide coach Neil Craig? We never see or hear from him, unlike Rodney Eade at Collingwood and Mark Thompson at Essendon. How does the fact that Neil Craig isn't a media [censored] like Eade and Thompson relate to whether the players are exposed to him enough. Robert Walls obviously needed to write an article to get paid and picked the soft target of the MFC as he could easily write about his great love the MFC. If he gets paid by the line then doing something with bullet points is a money maker.
  21. Like Nasher I am looking forward to this game also, interestingly like many D'Landers I was feeling quite pessimistic about this season after round 1 but after the last two rounds I am feeling cautiously optimistic. The last 2 rounds of football have seen us string approx 7 quarters of football that doesn't suck together. So now I am, dare I say it, excited to see if we continue to keep the intensity and effort up this week in Geelong. I would say watching the players after last Saturday and watching the press conference with Barty and Neeld the emotion and pain of losing etched on their faces really moved me on the weekend. Bate talked in his last interview post Bulldogs (I think) about the team has to hate to lose and you can see that the boys are at that point. I just hope that anguish at losing only drives them to work harder on the aspects of their games that are letting them down and that they use that to fuel their desire to win every contest they enter and dominate all aspect of the games. I guess i am just trying to say that I loved thatRaw emotion it was refreshing to see. Go Dees!
  22. The discipline that Neeld is asking from his players is mentioned in the article on the MFC website Bail talks about DI's - Desire Indicators Bails were chasing, spoiling and tackling. Liam's may differ but not by much as Neeld continually refers to the team needing to develop Basic Defensive Principles as a base. I think as long as Liam is working hard and showing elite endeavor even at casey he will have every chance to be called up. So its good to hear he is champing at the bit
  23. I would hope that he would be a walk in to the side. But if Neeld stays true to his own structure and culture building Liam will need to show the work effort on field to even be considered. Because the one thing you realize after not playing Sylvia on Sunday is that Neeld is adamant in maintaining an elite atmosphere at the club. It doesn't matter if you are the most skilled player if you don't work hard on the track and on the field you will not get into the starting line up.
  24. Mat Rendell says to Jason Mifsud that there is a high attrition rate of Indigenous players and that we need to do something about, he then suggest a solution, and adds if we don't do this clubs such as the crows would only start recruiting indigenous players who have at least one non-indigenous parent. Mat Rendell reckons it was a throw away comment. But he has just stated that the issue with Indigenous players not staying in Footy relates to the fact that they are Indigenous and brought up by Indigenous parents and therefore they can not hack the rigours and systems of AFL football. Misguided comments yes but Adelaide FC and the AFL need to be very clear that those types of comments do not belong in football. Because they can be seen to vilify and stereotype a race. People say well we are becoming to PC and all to precious. In the 1900's in this country their was a belief by the Governments and its leaders that and I will use their terms for it the "Full Blood" Aboriginal race is doomed to extinction, people such a Herbert Spencer espoused and paraded out a belief that is termed Social Darwinism and that belief was that the "Inferior races" were doomed to whither and die like Darwin's Natural Selection ,the superior race because they had evolved and adapted would survive and flourish. This thinking led to the formulation of the Protection Acts which were enacted to Protect the Full Blood Aboriginal whilst they fade into history, in Australia at the time there were many (again their term) Half Caste children who due to their non-Indigenous blood were deemed to be savable. So they placed a clause in all the acts that stated that all Aboriginal Children were deemed wards of the state, and decision regarding their welfare would be made by the protector. This allowed them to go into Aboriginal communities and remove all the children who were "Half Caste" and raise them as Non Indigenous, teaching them to read and write to a primary school level so they could go and work as stock men labourers and domestic for no wages. (this was because of a clause that placed all property of Aboriginal people under the care of the protector) The protection acts restricted Aboriginal people movements, employment and even who they could marry. The protections acts in some states were not repealed until the mid to late 1960's and some states like QLD the early 1970's. What has this to do with today.I am an Aboriginal man I was born in the 70's I have witnessed and heard some of the most heart breaking stories from my family and friends about how these Acts have torn apart families and left scars that will take generations to heal. Mat Rendell's comment revive that belief that Indigenous people of mixed descent are some what superior because of their non-indigenous blood. This is fundamentally wrong and should not be tolerated in any way shape or form. IMO Matt Rendell is not a rascist, he is a misguided. He needed to be sacked because AFC had to ensure that they were not tainted by his misguided comments. I have copies of both the WA Protection Acts and the QLD Protection Acts if anyone wants to peruse them. Also interestingly the methods used in the acts to segregate people and restrict movements were perfected by the British upon the Irish before they came to this land. Restriction of Language is an example of some of the similarities and the Irish were also ridiculed as being Liars, Thieves and Lazy people who would not work by the British. In regards to that belief that we as a people were doomed to extinction, it gives me great satisfaction to say we have survived and we will continue to survive because that's how we have lived in this great land for 40,000 years. Would I consider hiring him as a recruiter. I don't know probably not now but maybe if his recruiting record at Adelaide bear fruit in a couple of years.
