  1. That's true. I remember hearing Gillon say that on the radio.
  2. There's no magic formula to determine whether a club warrants a priority pick. There are what the AFL deem "exceptional circumstances". If the AFL can frame Brisbane's situation at exceptional, the Lions will get a PP. Since "exceptional" is wide open to interpretation, back it in that the AFL will be able to prosecute their case. There has also been enough recent static in the media to suggest that the AFL has been surreptitiously paving the way for granting a Lions pick.
  3. Has Dwayne's recent "Melbourne are irrelevant" article cracked a mention here?
  4. The reaction to Watts' first game is a massive exaggeration.
  5. Great players ≠ Great minds.
  6. Melbourne has been a team of weeds since Northey. How come we never draft men?
  7. Russell hates Melbourne. It's a class thing.
  8. Wear a veil of positivity.
  9. The Demons' motto: Si errare potest errabit.
  10. I never forget we are cursed. I touched wood instead.
  11. It is ridiculous that Roosey, other club supporters and the media think there is a veil of negativity around our pathetic, doomed, fisted forever Demons.
  12. The worst thing about today is that I expected it.
  13. Possibly the WORST we have EVER played.
  14. "Melbourne defender Jeremy Howe will begin assessing in a fortnight whether he wants to remain at the club next season." Begin? If - I suspect "when" - Howe leaves, it will be interesting to see how long after the season he announces his decision.
  15. Why did he play for so long with a painful and debilitating foot?
  16. "JACK Trengove loves and hates game day." There's a coincidence. I hate the phrase "game day".
  17. I know what you are saying, MS, but I only remember Rivers being mauled by Cloke once, and even that day he was on the back end of some scrubby, floaty kicks that landed in Cloke's lap. Rivers is harshly judged for that match. Rivers often held his own against other Great Apes. My initial point was that his first year was a success because he was able to go third man up, but once other clubs worked him out, they spread their forwards so that Rivers could not leave his own man and get to a teammate's marking contest. Had he left his own bloke, he would have been caught betwixt and between. After that he became a reasonably reliable stopper man-on-man, but not a particularly eye catching defender, and that's how he ended up at Geelong.
  18. Tom Browne?
  19. Riv was good as the "third man up" when he was allowed to zone off his man, but was less of a player when teams started to spread their forward lines and make him accountable to one opponent.
  20. To me, his career was over the moment he bailed on the Dees.
  21. Bad idea. As a teacher, I'm already on holidays.
  22. It's $418M per year for six years for $2.5M.
  23. We were appalling flat track bullies under Bailey. Got utterly smashed by the slightest hint of pressure.
