You don't want a bull moose personality as an assistant. Bolton would bring heaps of IP.
-
I'm with you. last year Oscar looked as if he was developing into a reliable tall defender, but this year, when he is not being outmarked, he is falling over.

Get Bolton to the Dees. We need some new ideas in the footy department, and Bolton knows Clarko Footy.

Is play-on at all costs still the way to go?
Tony Tea replied to At the break of Gawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
Play on at all costs is fine if you get free players ahead of the ball and have players who can kick it to the free players, but too often our ball carriers have no one to kick to, so they kick in hope. -
I have relatives and older friends who swear that the umpires hate Melbourne in the 50s and 60s. And just for the record. When Melbourne beat Essendon in the 1941 grand final, Essendon won the free kick count around 40-10.

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
Tony Tea replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
As long as Lever is okay. -
In the OED there is a picture of the AFL logo next to "unintended consequences".

Players fumble when they don't know what the are going to do with the ball as they approach the ball. They also fumble when they are expecting contact - timid Garlett, for instance, who is only in the team due to injuries. If you know what you want to do, and you are positioned to get your hands on the ball first, you get it and give it regardless of the opposition.

Salem has done a very unDemon thing: he extended his contract and is subsequently having his best year.

Heaven help the competition if we ever work out how to play footy forward of centre.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
Tony Tea replied to dimmy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd have him back. -
Frosty would say "camelopard".

Frosty the magnificent gangling freak beast.

There were a couple of clear 50s not paid to Melbourne in the last quarter. One to McDonald when a Hawks player booted the ball away. Another when a Hawks player returned the ball to the wrong Demon player after a Demon free. You'd care less, if it wasn't for the lame 50s paid against Harmes for maybe infringing the protected zone.

If ever there is a side I thought we would lose to, it's Hawthorn. Clarko Footy is our Achilles Heel, and on top of that Hawthorn are a long time bogie side. GREAT WIN! (With half a side.)

Never in doubt, ya muppet.
-
Ha! What makes anybody think we're going to beat Hawthorn?

Manage of Liverpool in the 60s and 70s.

I first heard Bill Shankly say it.

10 years is a Buddy long time, if you get my drift.

I haven't heard anything bad about Pert, he hasn't been there long enough to be a problem, and I assume our poor form this year is purely coincidental with Pert's arrival.

A family friend was on the MFC committee when Smith was sacked, and said to me pretty much the same thing. The Demons urged Smith to apologise, but he refused, hence the settlement. Regarding our onfield demise. The Demons flag had a scent of the 1991 Hawks flag - a last hurrah of a champion team. Unfortunately, while the Hawks have managed to unearth a revolutionary coach in Clarko, the Dees have gone from dud to spud, rinse, wash, repeat. Fingers crossed Goodwin's 2018 is not a flash in the pan. While I had a strong sense that 2019 would be a bust, I have just as strong a feeling the 2020 will be a good one for us.

Post what?

Yes. If the Hawks are into him, he has already committed to them. It's almost as if the Hawks modus operandi is to instruct a player to get injured, pick him up cheap, then turn him into a gun.
