Goodwin would not have played Petty if he did not see a future in Petty.
  2. Very circa 1994.

Demetriou went from relocating North to expand TV coverage to introducing two new teams when North knocked him back. One team was to replace North on the Gold Coast, the other was an afterthought when he realised one extra team meant an odd number of teams. North was going to be a manageable relocation both logistically and financially. But the two new teams are a financial black hole since every alleged dollar gained via expanded TV coverage is burned by the massive money needed to prop up GC and GWS. It has always seemed dodgy that North's relocation was going to satisfy the TV expansion, but then suddenly the Giants and Suns were the answer. Policy on the run based on Demetriou's spite at North. Fiasco. Fold them both.
  4. The others are just jealous.
  5. There is an argument to be had over whether a back pocket should primarily be a stopper like Jetta or primarily an accumulator like Laird (or a bit of both). Laird obviously got the nod because he got a lot of possessions, but since the AA team was released Jetta has mounted a massive case for the stopper.

A pessimist is what an optimist calls a realist.
  7. The most amazing thing about Dangerfield's game against us was the sheer number of deliberate "frees" (either paid or not paid) he committed. Like Jetta in the vid, every single time Danger was beaten he slung his opponent to the ground. And yet he was hardly ever pinged.

Che Sera Sera was a Marxist fatalist.
  9. West Coast is a Clarko Footy disciple and currently play better Clarko Footy than Hawthorn. Kingy is right. We got away with the game last night. If the Hawks were on their mettle we would have been skewered. If West Coast is on their game on Saturday we will be in trouble simply because they are comparatively better than Hawthorn and we most definitely struggle against Clarko Footy. Nevertheless, we beat the Hawks despite being quelled around the contested footy, which is usually our long suit. Last night's game was weird in so much as it was like Melbourne playing against Melbourne. The Hawks kept taking the ball into our forward line, but we were able to hold them out and score on the breakaway. We can't tempt fate and allow West Coast the same territorial ascendancy, simply because they will operate better than Hawthorn. With luck and good management we will play the game in our forward half and put the slows on their sling shot and stop Kennedy and Darling getting clear chances. Fingers crossed we don't play tennis against a brick wall. No matter how well we play the ball keeps coming back.

I thought we hated the Hawks because we have beaten them about five times in 50 years.
  11. Whats with the gruesome music?

Fending off with the foot? So that's what we call kicking now. Noted.
  13. Don't be surprised if Hawthorn put some work into Salem.

Me too. And then I felt absolutely shouse the next day even before the game started.

Another indication footy media struggles to fill time or space.
  16. Gerard sounds disturbingly similar to Frank Walker from National Tiles.

I'd prefer to bring back Glenn Lovett. Safer hamstrings.
  18. Hogan for Cera and Andrew Brayshaw, with pick swaps.

The strong clubs have built their lists first from the draft, then after a period of development, traded in players to fill specific roles (unless an absolute gun wants in). What are our specific needs? Obviously outside speed is one, so Gaff would fill that bill, but if Gaff and Norf have paid massive overs we would be silly to also pay massive overs. We need to look elsewhere. Fingers crossed we have other irons in the fire, and fingers, toes and eyes crossed if one of those irons is Josh Kelly.
  20. 23. Dermott Round. All the commentators must butcher their words with words they don't know the meaning of.

The Hawks are a big chance to pinch a flag now they are in the top 4. Clarko footy, genius, GOAT.
  22. A typically Demonesque loss. So costly.

I'd love to avoid the Hawks.
