One reason why our club is making progress

Got to say, I love the way Bailey goes about answering questions directed by the media. He seems excellent in the handling of some players, in particular the 'kid' in Sylvia. Psychologically speaking, I think he's going about the development the right way and if it comes off, we'll see some mature quicker than we'd expect, which goes well for the team with respect to the game plan and being mentally strong. -
You are right. That is the argument. I think you just answered the question. Let's move on. Bring on the Saints.

Theoretically BB, it's not a bad idea. If there is any doubt at all with regard to a permanent move of AFL into West Sydney, this is an alternative. AT least this way the AFL could drip feed Western Sydney with a taste of AFL before a more permanent move. Also the Bulldogs get looked after financially in the meantime and it would enable the AFL to test the waters and do the calculations on a decision or timeframe for West Sydney, without spending a whole heap of money initially with their fingers & toes crossed. Seems more like a common sense approach. Big tick from me.

What annoys me and it happens almost every game
H_T replied to Dusty_Hill's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes. Yes. Yes. It was so frustrating. The hands in the back rule is almost non-existant having watched a replay of the game, too. By the way, was the Hawthorn bloke (Muston I think), cited for his hit on Sylvia after Sylvia marked before the final siren? Or was it looked at at least? That was reckless. -
Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments

Good post rpfc, much along the same lines of Hannabal's comments in seeing Sylvia as a quality finisher, of which I totally agree. Sunday was a little more confirmation in this regard. I'm not expecting many more stand out games like that from him this year in a team such as ours that is struggling. Although, I would be delighted if he did produce that a few more times this year. As the side begins the climb up, I am expecting more consistent returns of 2-3 goals a game and/or many assists, from him in the next couple of years. -
I'll know next time, not to take a sip of coffee whilst reading a line like this........a clean up was required......thanks Dappa!

You're giving up too much with Dunn.
-
Seems to me, you're the only one criticising Grimes' kicking??
-
Correct Cards. I hope he has been held accountable by the leadership group too. They should treat him much like the Geelong group did with Johnson.

Ess v Melb, Etihad, June 19?

How do you know that we were never going to win that game anyway? Had he gone back and kicked it like he should have......well we're 5 points closer....and an entire different set of circumstances presents itself. Facts are he made one of the most stupid blunders of all time to please himself. He had no awareness that Moss was nearby. He cost the team a goal. He was dragged for the reasons stated in this thread. What else are you trying to prove? You can forget the past too, especially the last couple of years. There is nothing to excite when you go there. Let's look to the future where we want a team that works as a team and not a team of individuals, if it's the latter you can forget about a Flag. Here, here.

If the leadership group wanted to be pro-active and wanted to be seen to be on the front foot with regards to team discipline, they would have already addressed this issue. I would be most disappointed if they haven't yet discussed this with Robbo in the weekends match review. PS. Rusty, of course Robbo isn't Michael Newton. There's no 'credits' for anyone when it comes to breaking team rules.
-
Monty, had Michael Newton done the same thing, you would the first up in arms calling for him to be dropped.

Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments
H_T replied to Don24's topic in Melbourne Demons
No. I just wanted to know your thoughts on him. Because its relevant in that both Ricky Petterd and Colin Sylvia are listed each week in the 'Record' as the 'Utility's' for Melbourne. They both can play back and forward or even utilised within the midfield. They both provide Bailey with options for match-ups and strategies on match day. It has been only 20 games and yet much like Sylvia, Petterd shows glimpses and teases Melbourne supporters. I'd be absolutely wrapped if he became an O'Keefe type. But that's a huge call. What I would like to see from him is much like Sylvia's game on Sunday. But I don't think he can produce that. His kicking is scratchy and no where near Sylvia's kicking. So far he hasn't shown a hell of a lot in the contested marking. However, I'm prepared to give him a little latitude and let him mature a bit more and get this season under his belt, having come back from a unique situation/injury. -
Thanks for the gold coast update WJ, make sure you stay dry until gameday. Look for some new recruits and see if you can entice Nathan Ablett back from Broadbeach to the Dees.

It is quite clear throughout posters comments and opinions within this thread and the 'Changes this week thread' that Robbo's antics infuriate supporters. This latest episode of selfishness and sheer stupidity against team rules smacks of poor leadership and playing for himself. Casey is surely his calling for this week, despite being rightly dragged. Just last week he stared down Matthew Bate for making a skill error by not centering the ball into Robbo's direction. This however was far from a skill error.

They've had something like melbourne's entire yearly rainfall in under 48 hours or something. There would be 1 inch of mud if the drainage is no good.
-
Agree, the team should come first. Indeed. BRFE. Good examples of selfishness. We're on the same page. There is no room in the team for this kind. Bailey would want to stamp this on the head straight away.
-
I'd say no way to trade personally. jacey..i agree with your quote, but I always hated Robin. more like Brock is the Sundance Kid to someone's Butch Cassidy.....for those movie buff followers.

Just go to Canberra for the fireworks. How about Melbourne-West Coast play for the 'bitten finger' trophy. It can be presented by either Todd Viney or Chris Lewis...
