I think we would all be calling BS if he said we thought he was the best in the draft.

Yep speculative. High risk, high reward. Obviously thought someone was going to nab him down the line. -
Salem over Freeman. Salem's makes quick decisions, changes direction quickly and hits targets under pressure.

I think Salem's game will hold up to the speed of Afl better than most. I wouldn't discount the possibility of him becoming one the top 2 or 3 players from this draft. Has a lot going for him. -

Salem's size is fine. He has no definition and clearly hasn't seen a weight....he will. -

I like him because he is a quick thinker, a very good mover, is balanced and can get the ball moving to the boot in the blink of an eye and it goes where intended. He also has that fast twitchy elastic movement that enables him to change direction quickly. I see this skill set transferring very well to the senior AFL game, better than most. I think his skill set will hold up. He is also strong and hits the ball at speed and keeps his balanced. I could see him at half back until he finishes his apprenticeship before moving. As for body shape he is exactly the size an 18 year old mid should be. Work ethic and his willingness to compete can't be fully gauged from watching a couple of games and some highlights.

Based on my very limited knowledge of the players we are likely to be choosing from he is the one I like most. Based on history there will be worse players picked before him and better ones picked after. -

Nice to see smiles at a press conference. Looks pleasantly strange. -
Going off videos only, Salem is the one I like. Looks to have the whole package. Good skills and very nice lateral movement.

There remains a very good possibility that none of us will have any regrets over the Scully saga. What we have gained may prove to be a great deal more than what we have lost. It may be the one thing during that era that may work in our favour.

On the Adelaide board at bigfooty there is a popular school of thought that this guy was delisted with plans to have him rookied as he recovers. The Dees may have thrown a spanner in the works by offering a spot on thier primary list. -

I'll back the selection of anyone with the nickname "pigdog".Has intent from those highlights and keeps his feet. Another example of Roos playing the percentages. Picking a kid who has shown some ability at AFL level who has what sounds like the right attitude to improve is thought better value than pissing pick 57 away for a speculative 18 year old. There will be pressure on the inside mids to win and keep a spot and this bloke, Cross, Jones and Viney putting it on the line no questions asked. Roos mandate is clearly to win the clearances and contests. -
Sorry RP and the other poster who continues to make excuses for Watts, with regard to Jack Watts you are wrong, and you seem to equate winning contested possession with being defensively minded as you did on the other thread Of course you don't go into a one on one all of the time. You do usually go into a 1:2 etc especially if it is a 50/50. Anyone that cannot see that Jack Watts is not entering contests THAT HE SHOULD is not watching, is deluded (apologies deeluded) or doesn't understand the game. If Watts was doing the things he should be doing the results would be self evident, he would be influencing games, winning footy and being of good value to his team. If Watts turns his game around it will be because he will have changed his mindset, not solely becuase he is being used as a pure outside receiver. Watts needs to improve, if he maintains the status quo he will become irrellevant.
