  1. I don't agree. He may do his best work out in the open but he will need to learn to deal with the tight spaces as well to add some value. Utilise his strengths by all means but players need to be able to operate under pressure or they will be found out in big games and finals.
  2. By the way they play footy
  3. Strauss is ok in space, His brain seizes up when the space closes down so he needs to address that. Good to hear that he is training well as he has some nice attributes.
  4. Must be hard for blackfellas to get respect. Seems in some people's eyes it doesn't matter whether you're on welfare and drinking casks down the park or getting to the top of your chosen field and winning Australian of the Year. As for arrogance and ignorance I agree. There are those who through conditioning and a lack of education form stupid ideas and there are those who form them regardless. The former probably deserve our compassion and are the type of people that Goodes and others are addressing through campaigning against racism.
  5. The results of a scientist or physician are going to be more tangible and easier to measure than the results of an indigenous role model and anti racism campaigner.
  6. Sigh There is a difference between reading and comprehending.
  7. I can help you with the first bit. Now a couple of flags, a couple of brownlows and you'll be halfway there.
  8. I reckon Goodes would agree with you. Empowering a group of people to realise opportunity and rise above a victim mentality. He has refused to be tagged as a second class citizen by anyone, so he should. In essence that is what I believe that Goodes and good indigenous leaders are about. Goodes has risen to the top of the heap as a footballer on merit and he wants his people to be treated and treat themselves as first class citizens, not victims. If nothing else Goodes is an excellent example to young indigenous people and can be held up as a person who has achieved at at high level in his chosen field and he may just inspire others to do the same.
  9. Agreed. Which is why the racial makeup of the board is irrelevant.
  10. Frog best delete your last. Well dome Adam Goodes on AOTY.
  11. All worthy recipients who reached the pinnacle of their respective fields. I say this with all respect, all white, all from privileged backgrounds, all took every opportunity placed before them. Relative to the position that Goodes has come from he is as worthy. We can't pick white doctors and scientists every year.

  13. Adam Goodes and other indigenous leaders are a beacon of light for young indigenous people. Great choice, legend of the game and a man of integrity. we need blokes like him. He has achieved, he can communicate and considering some of the crap he has had thrown at him he has been fairly gracious. You can throw money at reconciliation and parity but people like Goodes get us closer than any $. I have 2 indigenous foster kids and seeing indigenous people achieving and being recognised has a major impact.
  14. FMD. Should not be speaking to the media in my opinion. Just puts pressure on himself and the club... and as we know he struggles with the weight of expectation. Work hard on the track, play some decent footy and earn some respect.
  15. With standardisation that compares very favourably for Fitz, given he has come from nowhere and considering the amount and quality of supply. I would take Fitzy at the same age over Dawes. I accept that he is one I rate higher than most would.
  16. Fitzpatrick v Dawes at the same age would make an interesting comparison. I would suggest fitz would come out ahead. Fitz is one of the more promising kpfs in the league. He is underrated on here.
  17. Adopting a child isn't easy. The idea that a former player could somehow exploit the father/son rule in this way is ridiculous. Just won't happen.
  18. Clearly a failure to read or comprehend. I agree with WJ that Neeld's failures as a coach were great and his failure to manage and communicate would have also been apparent at training and would likely contribute to poor training performance. Keeping Mission on is at least an endorsement that his management and plans are supported by the new regime.
  19. I agree Dd. It would be a good move for him. I found your choice of language a tad unorthodox.
  20. Umm....^^. Let's see how he goes on game day.
  21. It's clear that membership has plummeted and not plummeted simultaneously and at the same time.
  22. Trying to get there, maybe, possibly.
