  1. Tom Scully was an absolute steal at $1M plus per year. And for over a half a decade too.
  2. I'd throw the dough at Jaegar O'Meara. He's doing an apprenticeship with the best midfielder in the game, is hard at it, and has sublime skills. He'll be the next top line midfielder IMO. In fact, is it not the case that we could've got him as an under age pick and chose not to?
  3. If nothing else, we are finally being taken seriously as a club and are genuinely seen to be a credible destination. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/geelong-interested-if-cameron-ling-wants-to-join-coaching-ranks-20140524-zrn6b.html
  4. I have 10 cases of premium beer riding on it that we won't finish in the bottom four this year. The mate with whom I have the bet was demanding delivery of the beers after round 2. He's not so cocky anymore.
  5. Just read it. This is simply the best news I've read since he signed with the club in the first place. Only swear words can truly express my excitement. #8%%@&! stoked.
  6. Top stuff Robbie - thanks for these reports.
  7. Blease has been in the system for quite a while now. Surely we shouldn't still be discussing his inability to build an engine. That said, I expect Blease may have a role in an AFL team as he has genuine X factor - it's just that the AFL team may not be one coached by the greatest man to have coached this club since Norm Smith. Edit - post demanded more hyperbole.
  8. Putrid, embarrassing and plain rubbish? No one can deny that? Yep - this is absolutely what elite posting looks like.
  9. I'm finding myself 'liking' every post on this thread. I absolutely love Bernie.
  10. If I were Chip, I'd stay with the Dees. It's a no brainer right now.
  11. Take the week. Expect Frawley will have recovered by the Port game. Not ideal though - Dawes has genuinely transformed this team.
  12. We definitely deserve to have more than 3 wins to date. On balance, I think 4 wins would be a fair and accurate assessment of where we're at. We literally could be 5 and 4 though - as we really should've beaten the Saints and the Dogs, and I think we deserved to win each of those games. We possibly could've snagged the Suns game and probably should have, but I don't think we deserved to win it. GWS beat us fair and square - they were the better team over four quarters. That said, it's been a simply stunning and wholly remarkable transformation. To my mind, Paul Roos is the Coach of the decade. I love what he's done for this club. Footy has meaning again. Apologies to Ken Hinkley, Bomber Thompson, Alastair Clarkson and Leigh Matthews. But the reality is - no other coach in the competition over the last (almost) decade has been as influential in bringing back blood to my body as has Paul Roos been. I love the bloke. He is just so bloody good.
  13. BB - this is just the type of convenient response/position to which I refer. Of course he has/had potential. He was a number one draft pick.
  14. Quality post. Hilarious and insightful Nice work.
  15. Great post - you're on the money. The reality is though, he's been underrated because of the team he leads. As the side demands/commands more respect, Jones will similarly gain more respect (from those in the AFL community who reside outside the Demons tent).
  16. I'm laughing out loud. Knew this would happen. Those here who regularly bag Watts can get stuffed. You can no longer hide behind your convenient, simplistic, boring, cliched, pathetic posts. Just admit that he's still developing and that he's a bloody important player for this club. Good onya Jack. Great game - thank you. I really enjoyed that win.
  17. Like Whelan, Jetta: - doesn't ever shirk the contest; - is a good tackler; - is extremely team oriented - very selfless in his focus - will always commit to the one percenters; and - was also a 50s something draft pick, ie, not supremely talented, but super determined. Reckon his position going forward is as the defender who gets the dangerous small forward each week.
  18. I know it's been said before, but Nev Jetta could genuinely become the next Matty Whelan for us.
  19. This is a game that we absolutely should have won. We were clearly the better team. In some respects though, we'll learn more from blowing it. After all, this season is apparently about development. That said, I was absolutely livid at the final siren though.
  20. Watts is a required player. Roos knows that. And that man knows what he's doing.
  21. We just beat the Crows at the Adelaide Oval. Even Geelong would be happy with that. On any construction, from where we've been over the last eight or so years, that's a simply mammoth improvement.
  22. We just beat the Crows at the Adelaide Oval. Even Geelong would be happy with that. Have you actually watched any MFC games over the last eight or so years?! On any construction, that's a simply mammoth improvement.
  23. We're finally starting to get some traction as a professional outfit. Let's move on and forget that dark chapter.
