  1. Prendergast built an elite midfield for us in one year. The stuff of genius.
  2. If you're correct, and it's not just dumb-luck, keep posting!
  3. Nein. Felt like saying it in German for some reason. Cheers, Ronrich Burgundich
  4. Carlton have, in recent times, been my most hated club. I think Geelong may have just eclipsed the dirty blues. Go North.
  5. In the spirit of transparency and not wishing to mislead fellow posters, I feel obliged to let everyone here know that I'm not actually Ron Burgundy. It's merely the avatar I use on this forum. He is my hero though.
  6. Given what he has apparently been through, surely MC (of anyone) would have enormous loyalty, empathy and respect for this club. I CANNOT believe this.
  7. Perhaps we've also gone quiet on Malceski, simply because we can't sort out a deal that doesn't dilute the compensation we receive for Frawley (that is, assuming the loyal country boy leaves the club).
  8. I cannot believe I am reading this. If there is any truth to this, this genuinely constitutes a dog act the likes of which is unparalleled in AFL in recent memory.
  9. Dean Kent, Tommy Mac, Col Garland, Nev Jetta and JKH also seem to be good draft picks.
  10. Jeremy Howe was a good pick. As were Ricky Petterd, Stef Martin and Darren Jolly.
  11. Blease over Shuey and Strauss over Zaharakis were sweet selections in 2008. Demonland would not have got these wrong. Thank you Barry.
  12. What people seem not to understand is that not everyone has the same approach to life and relationships. Speaking personally, I think Frawley has a duty of care, not only to himself, but to his current employer and, in this case, to a struggling football club that has had, and continues to have, its back completely against the wall. That a leader of the club has openly stated that he will not talk to the club until 'the end of the year' in circumstances where he has allegedly spoken to at least one other (much stronger) club is, in my view, pathetic. That people don't get this perspective also surprises/intrigues me.
  13. Serves to illustrate how mindless and uncritical much of the Watts bashing here really is. I will back the judgement of the likes of Roos, Stone, Rawlings and Matthews on player assessments/rankings over an entire season of football over any poster here.
  14. Bernie and the Tex can resume living together. In Melbourne.
  15. It seems to me that this statement simply reflected that the club and Mitch had agreed to terms under which Mitch would accept a lump sum payment in settlement of his longer term contract with the club and that he would no longer be part of the player group for the remainder of the season. Ie, that the club and Mitch had effectively 'parted ways' on terms that had been agreed between the parties. It probably did not, nor was it actually intended to, reflect the technical aspect of a player being released from an AFL club's list. In short, Mahoney's statement above does not seem inconsistent with the fact that Clark, technically, remains on our list for the remainder of the year.
  16. I suggest you tell your loyal, country boy mate known as Chip that. Everyone else gets it.
  17. How much of a shot in the arm would it be to have the forward line we had thought we'd have at the start of this year for 2015: Clark, Hogan, Dawes, Kent, JKH and Howe.
  18. Absolutely. Pedo should sue Merrett for that on-field assault.
  19. Not on point - but the highlighted comment reminds me of one of my favourite seasons - 2002 - the one in which we were absolutely cruelled by injury in the semi final against the Crows at the MCG. Geez that was a heart-breaking loss. Despite the draw, we had some great come-from-behind wins that year, even in away games. The Dees had a quick, exciting midfield - TJ and Yze finished in the top 4 in the Brownlow - and then Daniher unwittingly stuffed it up at the end of the season by trading Woey and not giving Powell the additional year he wanted, only for both of them to become top tier players at the Pies and the Saints respectively for the next couple of seasons. We've never recovered from that trade period IMO. Anyway - round 19 of that year - an away game at Subiaco playing West Coast. We won by a goal. TJ had about 58 svelte possessions. One of the truly great wins. Vardy apparently got so hammered on the flight back, he went missing at the baggage carousel at Melbourne Airport. Everyone went looking for him. About 5 minutes later he emerged out of the hole in the wall where the bags come out, lying flat out on his back, completely passed out on the conveyor belt. But everyone was pumped because we were set to play finals. The come from behind victory at the Gabba against a dominant Lions was also sensational that year. Thinking of those games nearly brings a tear to the eye. Roos should show the player group those games in the pre-season. In fact, I think I might watch those games in the pre-season too. There's absolutely no levity in being an MFC supporter anymore - it's like running in mud, day in, day out, in wet, windy conditions with dark grey skies in every direction. It's emotionally draining. I want some blue sky. We bloody well deserve some.
  20. He's probably been with more chicas than you. I always feel relaxed when Watts has the ball. The midfield just need to get it to him more often, and then spread/find space as quickly as possible so that he can use the ball even more effectively. That people don't see the value in that continues to frustrate me. We have a list bereft of class, and he's a player with as much class as any other in the competition.
