Because people mistakenly thought it was the start of a new millennium because it was the year 2000. You're still making the same mistake. I'll dumb it down for you. The first decade is years 1 to 10. The second decade is years 11 to 20. The third decade is years 21 to 30. The first century is years 1 to 100. The second century is years 101 to 200. And so forth. The first millennium is years 1 to 1000. The second millennium is years 1001 to 2000. Etc, etc. There is no year zero. The first year is year one. The hundredth year is year 100. The thousand year is year 1000. If you still have doubt, Google it.

2000 was the last year of the previous millennium. It was the 2000th year. The new millennium started in 2001. Why do you think Federation occurred on 1st January 1901? Think of it like your birthday. You don't turn 21 (for example) until the end of your 21st year, or year 21. You then commence year 22, your 22nd year, at the end of which you will turn 22. 2021 will be the start of a new decade.

I was always under the impression that you had to have played a certain number of senior games (50? 100?) before you were given the honour of having your name on your locker. Clubs may have different guidelines about this qualification I guess.

Think you're being somewhat premature with your judgement there. Neita missed the whole year with a knee reco, Sparrow was injured for a lot of the season and Jordon (the youngest draftee that year) showed plenty of promise.
