Demons in National Women's League
Deeoldfart replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Just as we were a foundation club in the men's competition. -
Reading between the lines, Tom will be a Demon in 2017................... but like others, I'd just like him to sign now so we can all move on.
-
I'll be driving down the Hume for the QB clash on Saturday morning, and watching what I can of the Casey match on TV in the arvo. I'll welcome any insightful training reports to further whet my appetite for Monday's game. Thanks in advance for anyone who is able to give us interstate / country members some summary information. Your work is always greatly appreciated!

I remember the story too Thrice. Nev has become solid gold, Lewis was never better than silver plated, and is currently quite tarnished.
-
Nev is a ripper, and in 2016 he's been the 'glue' in our defense. Reliable, hard-working, courageous and building his game year on year. A fantastic story of persistence and hard work and a typical Paul Roos prodige'. As a free agent, other clubs will have him on their radar, which bodes well for Nev's finances. I dunno what all that equates to in dollars, but imo he has easily established himself in the top quartile of players at the Club, and should be paid accordingly. I reckon 3 years is the right term.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 12
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Re Garlett. Ballsy decision but the right decision imo. If you want a decent culture around the place, which is respected by everyone from top to bottom, then the same standards must apply to everyone, no exceptions! While I don't claim to know what underpinned the decision, I'll back our Footy Dept. 100% on this one. -
They won't risk any further damage to the knuckle, but if the medicos rule out that possibility, he'll play. Jack Viney doesn't feel pain!

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Deeoldfart replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Frawley would be a valuable addition to our current back half, but only if he wanted to be there! I reckon you could tell from his general on-field demeanor in his last season that his heart wasn't in it. Same applies, but even more so, for Howe. I'm clutching at straws perhaps, but I'm definitely not seeing that with Hogan. -
Compare Ceglar's low act with Tom Hawkins' tap on Phil Davis handed a one-game suspension from the Match Review Panel Both Ceglar and Hawkins earned the same penalty. What a joke!

Justin Plapp just described his game as "massive" in an interview on Casey radio.

Dees listed players not featuring much, except for the Terls who is featuring for the wrong reasons.

Couldn't agree more. I found myself cursing and swearing at Watson's inane comments, more than I did for some of the totally outlandish umpiring calls ........... and that's really saying something!

We played probably the best / most professional outfit in the competition, after a 6 day break and a road trip to Alice Springs, and with no Viney. Brayshaw and Salem. I'm not making excuses, and I hate losing as much as anyone, but I take some heart from that game. Still a work in progress, but the future looks rosy for our team of kids.
-
Well played guys!!!!!
-
I generally agree HT, but the pressure around the ball in very tough, wet conditions and congestion, meant that surety with the ball was bloody difficult.
-
6. Vince 5. Tyson 4. Jones 3. Jetta 2. Watts 1. Gawn
-
Maybe because huge scores are generally not achieved in wet and slippery conditions. Might keep the margin to under 10 goals.

Any other clubs chasing Majak would (most likely) want him as their #1 ruckman, and outbid us in any discussions with North. Further, if Majak wants to leave North, it will be for more opportunity and / or a fair bit more coin, and I doubt that we would want to commit to either for a player of his standing. While he might be a handy addition to our list, he's certainly not worth getting in a bidding war over.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Significant changes needed to be made after last week's showing, and that is what has been done. Bigger, harder bodies will be needed against the Hawks, and that is what has been done. All looks good to me! -
Probably knew 5 metres away that he had Amon in his grasp!
