  1. Re Garlett. Ballsy decision but the right decision imo. If you want a decent culture around the place, which is respected by everyone from top to bottom, then the same standards must apply to everyone, no exceptions! While I don't claim to know what underpinned the decision, I'll back our Footy Dept. 100% on this one.
  2. They won't risk any further damage to the knuckle, but if the medicos rule out that possibility, he'll play. Jack Viney doesn't feel pain!
  3. Frawley would be a valuable addition to our current back half, but only if he wanted to be there! I reckon you could tell from his general on-field demeanor in his last season that his heart wasn't in it. Same applies, but even more so, for Howe. I'm clutching at straws perhaps, but I'm definitely not seeing that with Hogan.
  4. Compare Ceglar's low act with Tom Hawkins' tap on Phil Davis handed a one-game suspension from the Match Review Panel Both Ceglar and Hawkins earned the same penalty. What a joke!
  5. Justin Plapp just described his game as "massive" in an interview on Casey radio.
  6. Justin Plapp just described Ben Ken's game as "massive" in an interview on Casey radio.
  7. Dees listed players not featuring much, except for the Terls who is featuring for the wrong reasons.
  8. Couldn't agree more. I found myself cursing and swearing at Watson's inane comments, more than I did for some of the totally outlandish umpiring calls ........... and that's really saying something!
  9. We played probably the best / most professional outfit in the competition, after a 6 day break and a road trip to Alice Springs, and with no Viney. Brayshaw and Salem. I'm not making excuses, and I hate losing as much as anyone, but I take some heart from that game. Still a work in progress, but the future looks rosy for our team of kids.
  10. I generally agree HT, but the pressure around the ball in very tough, wet conditions and congestion, meant that surety with the ball was bloody difficult.
  11. Maybe because huge scores are generally not achieved in wet and slippery conditions. Might keep the margin to under 10 goals.
  12. Any other clubs chasing Majak would (most likely) want him as their #1 ruckman, and outbid us in any discussions with North. Further, if Majak wants to leave North, it will be for more opportunity and / or a fair bit more coin, and I doubt that we would want to commit to either for a player of his standing. While he might be a handy addition to our list, he's certainly not worth getting in a bidding war over.
  13. Significant changes needed to be made after last week's showing, and that is what has been done. Bigger, harder bodies will be needed against the Hawks, and that is what has been done. All looks good to me!
  14. Probably knew 5 metres away that he had Amon in his grasp!
  15. Jack's media conference ...... what a humble young man! Media conference: Jack Trengove
  16. This is absolutely brilliant! Just look at the spontaneity! Telling Jack on the track
  17. Tweeted by sister Jess. She makes the excellent point about the support team who have been behind Trenners every step of the way. Well done MFC Jessica Trengove ✔ ‎@JessTrengove So happy for you Jack! A huge credit to you & the support team for your hard work over the last few years. Go Dees https://twitter.com/melbournefc/status/738175538129313793 …
  18. I couldn't be happier for Trenners. He's been dealt some awful cards and come up trumps! The benefits of a staying positive, hard work, attention to detail and enormous courage. I just hope the wheel has turned full circle, and he resumes his career where he left off before his injury. Well done young man, for proving all of us doubters and sceptics wrong!
  19. 6. Gawn - a huge effort, but he couldn't carry them all. 5. Jetta - composed, hard and reliable under enormous pressure 4. Jones - always under pressure which reduced his effectiveness, but was our only mid (apart from Gawn) who can hold his head up today. 3. Hogan - did a reasonable job, but it should have been so much better. 2. Watts - worked hard all day and was solid. We need a 3rd tall option up forward to bring out his best! 1. Hunt - seemed to get a bit more of the ball today, but I haven't seen the stats. Showed us a few cameo moments, which indicate the type of player he could become.
  20. Far too many passengers. The old saying "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" showed quite a few up today.
  21. Brilliant article about family, country and a 'hard as stone' footballer. One of those rare occasions when a 'double like' symbol on Demonland would be appropriate.
  22. Melbourne to win the contested ball and the match today, and (hopefully) getting an early 'feel' for what it's like sitting inside the eight .......... a feeling that will become commonplace in the years ahead.
