Tweeted by sister Jess. She makes the excellent point about the support team who have been behind Trenners every step of the way. Well done MFC Jessica Trengove ✔ @JessTrengove So happy for you Jack! A huge credit to you & the support team for your hard work over the last few years. Go Dees https://twitter.com/melbournefc/status/738175538129313793 …

I couldn't be happier for Trenners. He's been dealt some awful cards and come up trumps! The benefits of a staying positive, hard work, attention to detail and enormous courage. I just hope the wheel has turned full circle, and he resumes his career where he left off before his injury. Well done young man, for proving all of us doubters and sceptics wrong!

6. Gawn - a huge effort, but he couldn't carry them all. 5. Jetta - composed, hard and reliable under enormous pressure 4. Jones - always under pressure which reduced his effectiveness, but was our only mid (apart from Gawn) who can hold his head up today. 3. Hogan - did a reasonable job, but it should have been so much better. 2. Watts - worked hard all day and was solid. We need a 3rd tall option up forward to bring out his best! 1. Hunt - seemed to get a bit more of the ball today, but I haven't seen the stats. Showed us a few cameo moments, which indicate the type of player he could become.

Far too many passengers. The old saying "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" showed quite a few up today.

Brilliant article about family, country and a 'hard as stone' footballer. One of those rare occasions when a 'double like' symbol on Demonland would be appropriate.
-
Melbourne to win the contested ball and the match today, and (hopefully) getting an early 'feel' for what it's like sitting inside the eight .......... a feeling that will become commonplace in the years ahead.
-
Very well done by the Club, and to you too Rodney for taking the initiative.

Goodonya Jeffiei! I always admired his talent but never dreamed he would become a great club man the way he has. Doing the MFC and his indigenous brothers proud.

Last year they took a couple of extras to Alice for community work.

The Day of the Demon is coming says Warren Tredrea

If the Treadrea article affects the outcome, then we don't deserve to win. We will win or lose on merit. -
Roos on selections (Trenners, Clarry, Jetta & Tyson) Trengove getting closer to selection
-
Roosy seems to have backpedalled a bit on the prospect of 3 or 4 changes for this week, and without giving too much away, now seems more inclined to just 2 inclusions (Jetta and Tyson): Rd 9: Roos Views

Shudder! -
More than that SWYL, we can't afford to pay overs, if we want to keep our list together.
-
When Tom signed up to his current contract, he was one of only a hand-full of decent players on a very poor list. It is likely that the majority of players on the list at the time (including Tom) were 'overpaid' relative to their real AFL 'worth', just so the MFC could comply with the minimum salary cap requirements (95% or whatever it was). If this portrays the situation correctly, and given our vastly improved list, I reckon there's a fair chance that Tom is being asked to take a smaller slice of the cake, or only a very small pay rise, at best. My guess is that he may be baulking at this.

Brilliant insights into areas that we are normally oblivious to. Love 'em!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Deeoldfart replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've heard / read somewhere that he's highly professional in his approach, very eager to learn, and extremely 'coachable'. Great traits to have and clearly starting to bear fruit. -
...... or alternately, the GWS model without having it gifted to us by the AFL
-
Well done Truck! Just part of the very impressive arsenal of top-end young talent that we are building. Continue to develop them and keep them together, and we are going places. Love it!
-
Probably explains his listless (for him) form. Recover completely and quickly Salo. When you've done that, you are free to take the comp by storm.
-
Not only is Nev clearly our best defender, but he's in the very top echelon of small defenders in the competition. He would be a strong contender for AA honours if the side was selected right now!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Deeoldfart replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I always had confidence that Billy would, at the very least, become a good long-term 'foot-soldier' for us. However, I never dreamed that he would 'come of age' as quickly as it seems to be happening, and I'm thrilled that I might have to revise the 'foot-soldier' classification as well ......... maybe an Isaac Smith type asset. -
The Melbourne FD, and Casey players pushing for a place in the Demons line-up as well as those just needing miles in their legs (eg. Vanders.Dawes and maybe H) would be pretty cheesed off with the timing of the bye I reckon.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
According to the Fox commentary team, the Lions player who claimed he had touched it was already back in the centre waiting for a bounce to restart play when the 'behind' decision was announced. Go figure ........ -
It's hard to envisage a more frustrating 10 goal win, but we are Melbourne, and not in a position to complain! We did what we needed to do against a 3rd. rate team, and it's an enormous improvement from the recent past when we were the 3rd. rate team. We'll need to recover well, take the learnings from today into next week and get it 'right' at the selection table, to be in with a decent chance against Port.
