Great and very accurate post! (IMO)

He is spot on! Something does have to give. Regardless of who people think is to blame, the bottom line is.....If you don't want to put 100% effort in for the Melbourne football club. Eff off! Now!!!

Hindsight...it's a wonderful thing!

Well........If what you say is indeed true..... The managers weren't demoted because (quote) " we have a new 20 year old kid who just got to your work place who is now your boss". They were demoted because they were on fantastic incomes to go down to Geelong to try and win a contract from another company and didn't bother turning up. In the process they lost $186k and the respect of the of most of the wider business community in their field. They also continue to disrespect the 34,000 odd people who donate their hard earned cash and time to the company. -

Spot on. It will no doubt happen and more than likely the new sponsors will cover the costs too as some supporters will also put them on older jumpers and other demons clothing. It would be a very cheap way for the sponsors to get their names splashed everywhere.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/132360/default.aspx For someone who can almost guarantee they have been in more sponsorship negotiations than other Demonlanders you got this one awfully wrong thomo.... Melbourne CEO Cameron Schwab said while possible new sponsors had come forward the loss of EnergyWatch's sponsorship was a financial blow. "Like most organisations you have contingencies built into your financial situation, it will be a blow, we understand that but it's the price we pay to maintain our integrity," he said at a packed news conference on Thursday. "We've had a number of phone calls."

It was only a matter of time before this subject reared its ugly head (joking or not) Although it seems we are all sick of losing it will be interesting to see what thoughts are being bandied around if we are 12th on the ladder in round 18....... I was pro development in 2010 but I don't think I could handle the same scenario again. Then again when the potential draft picks become obvious........

Keyboard hero.... If you were that experienced then you certainly wouldn't disagree with the rest of my post. BTW can you elaborate on your almost guarantee comment?
-
Then you have no idea about how sponsorship negotiations work. Just because big companies have big sponsorship budgets it doesn't mean they don't try and get value for money. I'm sure there is a list of willing participants/offers that CS has had to turn down because the offer was simply a lowball opportunistic bid. This current situation now opens the doors for re-negotiation. Far from ridiculous Thomo...

If CS was negotiating with more than one party for the FOJ sponsor it allows him to offer more options and get two parties on board or maybe even three. The options certainly have broadened now!

We should ask the AFL to allow us to wear the green jumpers we wore for St Patricks day. I thought they looked great. Or did they have EW plastered on them too???

This Rumour may or may not be true but can we leave his father out of it please. IIRC his father passed away a couple of years ago, and from what I hear his father played a pivotal role in football quarters and was very well respected. The kid will be a gun. Let's hope he will be fully committed going forward. If he does want to leave then I hope it is known by the coaching staff and dealt with accordingly.
-
I also remember Garland wiping the floor with Franklin a couple of years ago IIRC. I can't remember exactly which game it was but Franklin got agitated and was dragged because Garland was on him like glue.

Could our new FOJ sponsor be..........'Starwood Hotels & Resorts Group' or one of it's hotel chains? They have recently sponsored the Delhi Daredevils and have sponsored the NHL in America and others in the past. They have also built or are building a hotel/resort in the province that CS is looking to secure a multi year deal with the high altitude training facility in China. We are looking to build a long term presence in China and the Chinese will, in the future according to tourism experts be Australia's major tourism driver.

Apparently Ju$$'s Grandma spoke to our potential sponsors a while back. They told her that they couldn't take the risk of sponsoring the MFC because Phat Phil would cause the planes to flip in even the slightest turbulence. Also the fact that they don't have hot pie's or deep fried Mars Bars on the menu may have caused the turbulence within the plane also. She explained that neither he nor any relations of his are part of the MFC. This has been the reason for the delay but now it's all back on track. Rumour has it that they have had so much enjoyment from this thread that some posters may even get free flights to all interstate games for season 2012. But that deal will only go through if they are signed before the home and away season starts.......

Time Trials - Friday 13th January, 2012
DeeMfc replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can fully understand your sentiment SD but you could also use the bolded comment above on the whole 2011 performance of half the entirelist. I agree the WCE game was an abysmal performance but also agree that Morton should have got better cred for his performance on Goodes. The real test will be the 2012 season for the whole squad. IMO I reckon Morton will surprise more than a few next season as a wingman with licence to go forward (rotating with Howe) and kick a few goals. Morton is a surprisingly good overhead mark and a good kick for goal from the 45m-55m mark. He is 196cm IIRC? The old 'talls need time' analogy may be correct in this case. In any case, give the bloke 2012/13 to prove himself under the new game plan. Some players need a 'structured' game plan and Morton strikes me as that type of player. -
Lets not kid ourselves. The kid lied about his contract and we would all like to believe his lack of performance was due to knee soreness. I think you will find that there hasn't been an issue with his knee for quite some time (IMO). Those are 24kg kettlebells. If there was any issue with his knee he would certainly not be training with 48 kg's of weight without strapping his knee.
-
I agree DC. But not the point.
-
http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2011/12/07/sheedy-pulls-reins-on-tom-scully/ Complete proof there was no knee soreness causing those 'average efforts' throughout the year. It's not in my nature to wish a career ending injury to anyone but.............

Agreed. If Rudeboy is out there maybe he could give us an update on Liam and his progress.
