  1. Bailey has mentioned on numerous occasions very recently that Garland will more than likely be a KPF that will go back into defence only when needed. Therefore negating the need for another KPF with the first two picks in the draft
  2. Would love Cotchin at the Dee's, really rate the kid. If not for injuries he would be talk of the town. Extremely slim chance of it happening though. Unless there is a rift between he and the club.
  3. When Strauss, Watts, Blease and co. are let loose the "DEMON WILL HAVE AWOKEN"
  4. I believe Richmond are still in his ear. Also have heard he is a Richmond supporter...... Jeeez.... what would they have to give up to get him ? I don't think they have enough to offer. Maybe their first two picks & Morton...... I just can't see it happening, unless he threatens to leave when his first contract expires.
  5. 1. Scully (Melb) 2. Rohan (Melb) 3. Trengove (Rich) 4. Morabito (Freo) Melbourne will most probably take Scully with pick 1. An amazing talent, skills, speed, endurance etc I think the draft camp results will push Rohan way up the list. Speed, agility, kicking skills etc. IMO pick 2 will be between Rohan and Trengove. Both have exceptional skills by hand and foot, can play forward etc. Rohan has speed to burn and X factor, Trengove has strength and class. If they can't split the 2 they'll probably take the Vic boy. I would be stoked with either I believe both have better kicking skills than Scully but Scully is a better overall package and deserves to go pick 1. Morabito has X factor but his kicking skills are nowhere near the above three. Bailey has stated on numerous occasions that skills by foot are priority #1.
  6. I was all for the 2 mids and a kpp at pick 18. But none of the kpp's in this years draft really stand out, so far. (Panos being the best available in my opinion) Now........ What if we were to trade a player plus pick 18 for a first rounder ? PP - Scully Pick 1 - Trengove Pick 6-9ish - Rohan As stated previously, with an elite midfield delivery into the forward line the likes of Watts, Jurrah, Bate, Sylvia, Martin, Jamar pinch hitting forward etc will be able to do the job. We will probably see a very dynamic game style from the Dee's going forward. Where mids will be kicking more goals along with the smaller forwards. Trengove and Rohan have also proven that they are more than capable forwards as well !!
  7. Panos- Reminds me of a taller Brad Green. http://www.selm.com.au/Site/Matthew_Panos.html
  8. Green out with a scaphoid injury.... The scaphoid is a bone in the hand that is very slow to heal, this could be season ending. Surgery 'now' will have Greeny fit and firing for season 2010 !!
  9. We already have him !!! Sam Blease is exactly that man. Look through his U18 clips on YouTube. Back on topic, the inside/outside mid that excels in the modern game...... One word. Scully !! If you watch the YouTube clips of the U/18 carnival, link ups between Scully, Blease, Strauss and Watts are constantly on show.
  10. Agree with all of the above. Sylvia could end up being the champion we all hoped he would become if he keeps up the hard work he has put in this year. My main concern is that the GC17 will offer him a truckload of money. I think his contract ends this year too.
  11. Cale Morton was taken in the first round..... Don't walk under ladders, don't break mirrors, avoid looking at black cats......... You should really stop this argument now to save yourself further embarrassment.
  12. Just a few of the 192cm duds playing currently ! Matthew Pavlich Matthew Lloyd John Anthony Chad Cornes Sam Fisher Darren Glass Cale Morton Jarrod Brennan Matthew Scarlett Scott Lucas Ben Rutten Andrew Mackie They had better take the tape measure on draft day just to be sure........
  13. Panos is 192-193cm. But your concern on height is unwarranted. Along with footy smarts and skill, versatility and speed are just as important attributes in the modern game. As opposed to the tall, one dimensional old school forwards. 8 of the top ten goal kickers this year are under 195cm. Rankings in order 1. Fevola - 191cm 2. Riewoldt - 193cm 3. Brown - 195cm 4. Franklin - 196cm 5. Johnson - 189cm 6. Roughhead - 193cm 7. Tredrea - 194cm 8. Bradshaw- 191cm 9. Betts - 173cm 10. LeCras -182cm If 2 mids are the standout then thats what we should take. Best available should be the way to go. Whether its a kpp and mid or 2 mids. Time will tell.
  14. Panos has class written all over him. If it's a Kp player we're after then Panos should be taken imo.
  15. The question is rather simple........ Do we have more depth than Carlton ? My answer is YES we do ! BUT our problem is at the other end of the list. We don't have an elite player like an "Ablett" or a "Judd". Yet.....
  16. (1) It wasn't the original post.... (2) It was only added as it was an article of relevance to the topic. I don't agree that elite level players should over indulge on junk food. BUT you can't expect them to take a fresh salad to the footy either.
  17. I remember reading an article about Judd soon after he joined Carl$$n. After a training session he was walking across the street and noticed the young crew Gibbs, Murphy & Co. eating junk food and he totally ripped through them about it. Explaining that if they wanted to compete at the elite level required to win finals footy they simply can't eat Shite like that, saying that he wouldn't accept it. Maybe it's the nutrition plan set for them to ensure no more than 4 wins........
  18. If we used the 2 draft picks we traded for him on the same players Freo did we'd have ended up with Justin Longmuir and Daniel Schell....... I think we won that one In another thread BBP asks the question of trading pic 2 (if we get 1 & 2) for an established young gun. It does make a lot of sense because 1st round draft pics are "GOLD" in the final unpillaged draft for the next few years.....
  19. 19640 Just for sentimental reasons
  20. 37,525 Jetta to star with 4 goals !!!
  21. Agreed. My prediction a few weeks ago of a dual sponsorship with HiSense/JB HiFi might come half true !!!
  22. What we need is "Members Special" through our next major sponsor/s. Similar to the $25 AGE special but on a grander scale that will attract more members. Example- Let's say we got dual major sponsors in HiSense Electronics and JB HiFi. HiSense has a 42" LCD T/V with 1080p and 100hz motionflow (perfect for sport viewing) Retail price at JB HiFi of $1746. If an arrangement could be made between the MFC, HiSense and JB that all 2009 members of the MFC were able to purchase the above LCD T/V at say.... $1250 provided that they held at least a 2009 Red & Blue Home Games Only Membership ($170). Which is a saving of $326. With new product offers each season. This would attract more members including people who support or barrack for others teams and non AFL followers, who then may start supporting the MFC after reading the Almanac etc. The above arrangement and pricing is only an example, as it would have to work for all parties. If something like this could be arranged it could increase membership dramatically. Eg. 10,000 extra Red & Blue Home Game Only Members at $170 = $1.7million.
  23. if CEO's are entitled to annual leave, which I'm fairly sure they are, when is a good time for them to take a break? During the off-season? Good idea. Schwab should be on holidays right now, and put our search for a sponsor on hold till he gets back.
  24. Ok then... I have refined my post above...... IMHO the last sentence is the most important point to be made by all supporters.
