First bounce of last quarter. As Umpire gets in position to bounce ball Viney is next to Burgoyne on Hawthorn's side of centre bounce. Umpire bounces ball and Viney moves away from Burgoyne to drop of the ball. Burgoyne does not move. Viney does not win contest. Ball comes to unmarked Burgoyne who turns and under no pressure kicks to Roughead's advantage. Roughead goals. Am i mad to think Viney's role was to stick with Burgoyne?

Jones certainly honoured Frawley's lead on Sunday. -
Welcome to Demonland ... CAMERON JOHNSTON
demoniac replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
For most Americans their local team is a college team. They might also follow a college team or teams that they or a family member attended. Its far more accessible than NFL generally. -
I was about 10 but the memory still rankles. If my memory is correct a few years earlier we thought Stan Alves was finished as a player, then he went to North and won a flag in 77.

Just downloading a pirated copy of the new release We Need To Talk About Jaeger.

Are Bombers Etihad matches still all reserved seats?
demoniac replied to Watts2Hogan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure about walk up. Imagine Bombers' fans will be up and about so walking up might be a bit risky. I got a Telstra Thanks Reserved Seat for $22 yesterday arvo. Front row of Level 3. If you are with Telstra/know someone who is its good value. -
This era's Whelan. Gets the job done with a minimum of fuss week in week out.
-
$22 reserved seats still available this arvo with telstra thanks.

Keeps getting called for throwing yet keeps doing the same thing. Needs to change that quick.

Melksham's decision making on when to go into the contest versus when not to is horrendous. 2 absolute shockers. Tigers are kicking to Punt Rd End. Tigers player running wide along the wing with Melksham as ball is kicked to contest on their half forward flank. Melksham decides to go to contest to try and force an outnumber. Makes no impact on contest. Tigers win ball and release to Melksham's mate from the wing who is now cruising past unmanned and delivers inside 50 under zero pressure. Tigers kicking to City End. They kick from inside 50 to about 70 metres out to a marking contest. Melksham is perfectly positioned to stay down and act as sweeper if ball spills from marking contest and opponent takes possession. But no he goes into marking contest, has no impact, Tigers win possession and waltz down vacant wing. Dumb and Dumber.

Hopeful Ins: Elite decision making and execution Hopeful Outs: Brain fades and clangers
-
It'd be handy if could eliminate his brain fades ie the kick to O Mac a few weeks ago or the" I can't believe a professional footballer was that stupid" deliberate out of bounds last night.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
demoniac replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looked a class above most of his team mates. Might be taking Bluey home come the end of the year. -
Fashion labels seem to have replaced pubs as the business of choice for footy players. I wonder how many actually last and make money.

I know the Kiwi skipper. Surprisingly nice guy for a Hawthorn fan. Will ask him about Mykelti...

Their spine looks pretty good, do need another talented key forward to develop . And yep they need more centre square mids to assist Cripps. You'd think they'll have early pics in the next few drafts to add those types.
-
Port are looking pretty ordinary. Should be much further in front. Blues would be a more attractive option in the futures market. Quite like their kids.

Chip must currently have an awfully familiar sinking feeling in his gut as he tilts his head back to watch the ball sail high through the other team's goal. Still he did win a flag and become a Premiership player.

One of the most insipid Dees recruits of all time. He was happy just collecting a pay cheque for 3 years.

It is of note that the players driving the AFLPA negotiations this time are the elite like Dangerfield, Selwood and Sloane. Which makes it great that our President has been revealed as architect of AFL option to go straight to players if a deal cannot be reached with AFLPA. Not an unexpected idea to emanate from a former Clayton Utz IR Partner but for mine its not a great idea for the club to be associated with given it will likely antagonise players who we may be seeking to recruit. I can see why they want a fixed percentage of AFL revenue. Under previous CBA their estimated percentage of income when deal was signed did not pan out fell as AFL income was greater than expected but because their share was not a fixed percentage players did not benefit. The reason the players hired Marsh was his success at getting a fixed percentage for cricketers. Its easy to say players earn too much but the fact is they are entitled to a fair share of the income their talents generate.

Could be worse, we could've signed up Chris Mayne for $500,000 a year for four years. I have higher hopes for Hibberd than for Melksham. Hibberd has speed, can play small and tall and uses it well. Melksham is quick but is an erratic kick.

Go Cats!
-
Just checking when we play the Crows so I can urgently manufacture a pressing engagement for entry into my calendar.
-
Plenty to play for as they say. Hopefully Hibberd only needs the one VFL game. Looking forward to both Hunt and Hibberd running the lines off half back.

Our setups at centre bounces and ball ups/throw ins were horrendous. Too often we had more numbers at the contest but no players on the outside. Cue Dockers winning the clearance and releasing through a sea of red and blue to a Docker in metres of space. We have some horrendous ball users in defence but when our mids are allowing their opponents to run riot its hard to blame the defenders.
