He played like he is completely cooked this year. Still has had an outstanding career. Obviously the Giants want the salary cap relief but watching him play this year I thought he was cooked.

Der-Wayne must be a tad disappointed in the career trajectory of one J Toumpas at Port.

Alternate view is that tolerating Jack's failure to consistently adhere to elite training and preparation standards would be a culture killer. Such tolerance would signal to our young players with equal or greater natural talent that cause they're talented like Jack they can also take shortcuts in their training and preparation.
-
No. Very definition of a list clogger.
-
Or it could be that view across football and administration of the club is that if they give Jack another chance to demonstrate he understands the professionalism required to be an elite athlete it will set a poor example to the rest of the playing group. Is it ok to coast a little if you've got enough talent?
-
I think our CEO and Board would have been briefed about the decision to trade Jack, the reasons behind that decision, and the messaging around that decision.
-
I was thinking more Bobby Ewing
-
Of course Jack might just be in the shower...

Ned Guy is going to the Pies. Not the firs player manager to go to clubland ie Dan Richardson, Craig Vozzo.
-
If it is not a fiction then for mine the club has run out of patience and is worried about the example set to younger players if we kept giving Jack more chances to meet expected preparation standards.
-
So in your view footy department is concocting a fiction to given them a reason to trade Jack out of the club?
-
Coach, Captain and Footy Dept Chief are all saying his preparation is not at the level it needs to be an elite athlete, and from their blunt tone, it seems this has been a consistent issue. Do you think they have concocted a fiction to give them grounds to trade Jack? or, If you accept what they are saying is your view that, 1 - we give Jack another chance to improve his professionalism, 2 - because of his natural talent its ok to accept that his professionalism is not at an elite level?
-
What data and criteria do Champion Data use to rank players on forward pressure?
-
Footy stats are only as reliable as the parameters set. Not a controversial statement.
-
Shows the limitation of Stats. Only as good as the parameters applied. His defensive skills are in no way elite.
-
The Coach, Captain and Footy Dept Chief have made it plain Jack does not meet elite standards of training and preparation that the game now demands. 9 years into his career is this ok? Can he get by on talent? Is this a good example for his younger teammates? Jones' comments showed a concern about our young players preparation outside of the club. And yes the club is culpable for being a #farceshambles when Jack arrived. But if after 3 years of Roos, 1 year of Goodwin and 6 years of Missen he does not meet training and preparation standards is that the footy department's fault or Jack's?
-
At some point its about Jack getting the best out of Jack?
-
How would you rate Jack's defensive pressure? Do you think he works hard enough on the track and is disciplined enough away from the club to do the 2 way hard running that the game now demands of every player?
-
Do the comments from the coach, captain and general manager - football operations give you pause for thought? They have hardly gilded the lilly re Jack needing to be more professional in his preparation.
-
Marlon was the big fish.
-
It is sad, and no doubt the club he arrived at was a shambles but if going into his 9th season he is not preparing like an elite athlete then what choice does the club have? What kind of example does it set to our young players if we tolerate Jack's sub elite preparation because he is a warm and friendly presence around the club and a skillful player? Still sad. I hope he gets a warm welcome whenever he plays the Dees and he fulfills his potential and gets to play finals.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
demoniac replied to ignition.'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Plapp must know him pretty well having coached him at Dragons. Hopefully he will be more settled back in Melbourne with his family. Not all 18 year olds are mature enough to move to the other side of the country away from family and friends. -

"We're a troubled team at Hawthorn"!!!
demoniac replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Key issue for the Hawks is getting a CEO and Footy Department head who can say no to Clarkson. If Fagan and Evans were still at the Hawks they would likely have said no to Crazy Clarko's desire to get the Jaeger O'Meara at any price. Interesting times ahead for Hawks with many of their fans, and perhaps their rent a quote new old President, expecting Hawks will automatically return to Premiership contention. Last time Kennett took over Presidency they already had Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin and Roughead on their list. They don't have that elite young talent this time round and the pressure will be on O'Meara, and therefore Clarkson, if the former does not start playing elite footy next year after 3 forgettable injury prone years.
