  1. What value is Lewis adding on field? He had a Saint hemmed in on the Members wing boundary line who must've pulled a Houdini move cause next minute Lewis had not moved and the Saint was running along the wing towards their forward 50. Every opponent knows Lewis can't catch them to tackle. That they can run away from him. That he won't run and carry because he knows he'll be run down. That he is a transplanted(pun intended) inside mid who is not great at spoiling. In short forwards across the league are hoping that he'll be their matchup. There is no onfield role for Jordan Lewis at AFL level in 2018. He's a 4 time premiership player who has played on a season too long and is now capable of not much more than guarding space.
  2. Amen.
  3. Former firefighter Kane Cornes raised our kicking as an issue. Admittedly some of the examples he raised were for mine were about decision making. Ie Oliver, Jones, Brayshaw kicking long inside 50 straight to opponents. Cornes also identified Jack Watts as our best kick of last 10 years. Don't think he has seen Fritsch play!
  4. Lyon used game footage to show the blinding obvious. We commit too many players to the contest leaving their opponents in acres of space waiting to receive the ball and we have no one in space to handball to. Our midfielders are simply not accountable to their opponents. Jones, Brayshaw, Oliver etc. And we're slow on the outside. Brayshaw as one example tracked an opponent through centre square but lost concentration, wandered towards contest on flank, letting the opponent run unchecked into their forward 50. Opponent got the ball in space 20 metres out. Jordan 'Major Tom' Lewis's renowned footy smarts don't extend to picking up a free opponent waltzing into out defensive 50 when he is the spare in defence. He is elite at guarding space I will admit. Goodwin needs to lay down the law. If you keep going to the contest when its not your role you play for Casey. If you don't apply manic pressure to opponents you play for Casey. If you're a one paced inside mid not part of centre square rotations you're not a winger so you play for Casey.
  5. I don't deny that Lewis has footy smarts but in 2018 AFL footy demands a minimum level of athleticism. Lewis does not reach that level. I can't see him matching up with either Butler or Caddy. Butler in particular would be way to nimble for Lewis. If he played on Caddy he'd have to be an accountable man on man defender rather than an inside mid transplanted to quarterback of the half back in twilight of career.
  6. Good luck Trenners!
  7. The following challenge remains open! "The Tigers will name their team tonight. Try and find a Tigers forward Jordan Lewis can keep up with."
  8. The Tigers will name their team tonight. Try and find a Tigers forward Jordan Lewis can keep up with. He is a 4 time premiership player and a great of the Hawthorn Football Club but Lewis is too slow to play at AFL level in 2018. One of the footy shows showed footage of Lewis getting caught out as our deepest defender and having no chance of keeping pace with his opponent charging into their forward 50 as Port rebounded. His footy smarts are now best used as a development coach. Old Father Time catches up with all players. I can understand why he wants to keep playing, lets not forget that he rejected a 2 yr deal to move and we caved and added a year. I don't blame him for that but my expectation of Simon Goodwin is that he will pick the best 22 each week irrespective of reputation. If he keeps picking Lewis then he is not doing that.
  9. Lewis has reached the stage where the best use of his footy IQ is off field. In every game he'll have to try and beat an opponent to the ball. How many Top 8 teams have forwards he can beat to the ball?
  10. And yes Lewis is cooked. If he does not want to retire immediately then he can mentor kids at Casey till end of this season, or end of season 2019 if he want s to play on. Treacle slow, goes to ground and kicking is unreliable. Top 8 teams just don't seem to play treacle slow half forwards in 2018 for some reason so he just will never have a match up.
  11. Weid is much more effective than Hogan close to goal. Jumps better when flat footed and actually puts 2 arms up in the air towards the ball. Also a more effective Gawn reliever than Harmes, Pederson, Smith. Weid at full forward and Hogan to roaming always on the move Centre Half Forward role.
  12. If you are not a key defender, and probably even if you are, if you are playing in defence you need to be able to run and rebound. Lewis provides neither. Vince is not much better. Media types drool over their kicking but both are now prone to regular turnovers by foot. every opponent Lewis lines up on will beat him to a contest or run away from him. I'd be happy to see both dropped with Petty and Hunt (if fit, was on crutches at the G) in. Petty allows Hibberd to play a more attacking role. Hunt to provide run and carry.
  13. Too often holds on to the ball too long and either rushes his disposal or gets caught with the ball. Not a reliable kick. An obvious out for Viney given Neal-Bullen's improved form on the weekend.
  14. They way he moves reminds me of Hoppy. Hopefully an improved Hoppy. He is pint sized but the game has evolved in the favour of sub 180 players over the last 2 years.
  15. Watch any AFL Grand Finals over the last 2 years?
  16. No Ginger Baker/Cream gags. Disappointing.
  17. I am. Therefore I renew.
  18. The central idea of the Black Lives Matter movement is that everyone should be treated the same irrespective of their skin color. People of color do not need your approval to demand equality.
  19. Kicking wise his longs irons sem good, but work needed on short irons. Nice intensity and footy smarts.
  20. Club Polos should never be worn with suit pants.
  21. Succumbing to Trade Radio for the first time this trade period. I feel so dirty.
  22. Carlton's 2018 second rounder may not be too many picks later than the 2017 Pick 16 in a more highly rated draft.
  23. Lever will start his first season with the Dees having just turned 22. Dangerfield started his first season with the Cats about to turn 26. Dangerfield was also a free agent so Cats we really doing Crows a favour by trading. Watching Crows reel to celebrate Lever's 50 milestone has me satisfied with deal. 21 year old 195 cm elite intercept marker and spoiler, plays long ie marks/spoils with arms fully extended. Has nice competitive edge. Our defence will love playing alongside Jake.
  24. High draft picks are not an end in themselves. It is a high price but rarely does a 21 year old with Lever's talents move clubs. Elite intercept mark & spoiler, in the American parlance Lever 'plays long' ie contacts the ball with his arms fully extended when marking and spoiling.
  25. Plapp must know him pretty well having coached him at Dragons. Hopefully he will be more settled back in Melbourne with his family. Not all 18 year olds are mature enough to move to the other side of the country away from family and friends.
