That glass of yours is half empty.

That is an appalling trade for the Suns.
-
So you reckon Lever would've chosen the Dees if he was moving clubs in the Bailey, Neeld era? Joe the Goose indeed!
-
Easier to judge Silvagni when their cap is tighter and they can't wear salary cap dumps each year in return for getting players in more cheaply draft pick wise.
-
Would you have been happy to wear the last 2 years of Lobbe's $500,000 a year contract, cause that is what the Blues are wearing, for a backup Ruck? That ain't no freebie. The Blues can wear the contract cap wise because they don't have many players worthy of increased contracts in the next couple of years.
-
It's a bit easier when you have plenty of cap room - now and projecting forward - and best 22 spots available.
-
Cap dump. Lobbe has a few years to go on around $500,000 a year. Blues take on his contract so get him for a nothing pick.
-
Bring back Dom Barry. Quick and can tackle.

Essendon have not really reinforced their midfield. Smith and Stringer have not spent much time in the midfield to date. Stringer a risk given his off field issues, Smith has had knees concerns. Can they do the pre season workload required to do the midfield running required? Port will improve, and lets hope Jack gets to play finals, but with the trend to smaller forward lines they'll be going against the grain with a taller forward line. Can it apply the manic pressure de jour? The recruiting is understandable, 4 of their of their best players are 30 plus next season - Ryder, Gray, Boak, Westhoff and 3 are 28 - Ebert, Hartlett, Dixon.

Club Polos should never be worn with suit pants.

Succumbing to Trade Radio for the first time this trade period. I feel so dirty.

Carlton's 2018 second rounder may not be too many picks later than the 2017 Pick 16 in a more highly rated draft.

I've never been more optimistic. We have the best list we've had in my 40+ years supporting the Dees. Like our best 22 and our depth. I really value Lever. 195cm, elite intercept mark and spoiler. Marks, spoils with arms at full straight extension, ie in the American sporting vernacular, he plays long. He is also a competitor. Watch his Crows 50 game milestone highlight package, love the play where he stands under a high ball at centre half back, wears the contact from Gunston, gets up and tackles Langford, winning the free for holding the ball. His team mates in defence will love playing with him, the way he relieves pressure on them with an intercept mark, a strong tackle, or coming in third up to spoil their man if they are out of position. We've seen how the footy industry values Jack. At 26, and with 153 games under his belt, only 2 clubs were interested in obtaining his services, and the Cats were lukewarm. The trade for Pick 31 is under the market value you'd expect for a player of his natural talent. But it is his market value. His situation is comparable to Daniel Menzel who kicked 40 goals in 18 games this season but received no offers in free agency, and will most likely have to accept a one year contract with a pay cut from Geelong. Both Watts and Menzel are skillful with ball in hand. In an onfield context its what they do when they don't have the ball that impacts on demand for their services.

which means if GC match, which would do, it'd be a trade situation.

unrestricted or restricted?

Source?

We got the market rate. There were only 2 clubs interested, and the Cats were lukewarm. Only 2 clubs. When Jack should be entering his prime aged 26, with 150 games under his belt, only 2 clubs were interested. Yep. His market value is less than his natural talent warrants. To me thats more about Jack, and perhaps the pre Roos Dees, than about how we handled his departure.
-
Word from whom? Jake Niall on Fox said if we are its a small amount.
-
Yes it does. The player of course has to agree. The Buddy clause is Buddy specific, or 9 year contract specific, and is perhaps more free agency related.
-
Good luck to Jack at Port. I'll be watching Port games, hoping he plays well, and that he gets to experience finals. Market value is what the market'll pay. Jack is 26, played 150 games and should be coming into his prime. He is on the market and only 2 clubs show interest, one of which, Geelong, shows only lukewarm interest. That is the footy industry telling Jack what they think he is worth, and its less than the market value his talent warrants. He is the same position as Menzel, who scored 40 goals this year, but seems likely to have to accept a one year deal with a pay cut at the Cats. The lesson is simple. What do you do when you don't have the ball is as important as what you do when you have the ball. Both Jack and Daniel have ample skill with ball in hand, indeed they have more skill with ball in hand than a few of the Richmond Premiership forwards, but they don't match their intensity when they don't the ball.
-
You can bet that Der-wayne will label Jack the recruit of the off season in the pre season comp games.
-
There are not that many highly rated academy or father son players so less of pick rorting trades.
-
Or Gold Coast tell Freo they'll wait till next year when Weller will be out of contract and its quite likely Gold Coast will have a very early pick in the Pre Season Draft. Always important to know your leverage in any negotiation.

I suspect the first mentioned name may also be the tweeter you refer too...

His point is correct. I was surprised that club did not have media ready to go. Miss opportunity.
