Video fairly average. I am cautiously optimistic re Rnd 1 but they burned us on the outside last year. Hibberd's run will be missed. Hopefully Kent and Garlett are fit and in the 22. We look better on paper than the Saints. Anyway its Rnd 1 so hope springs eternal!

According to one of his Melbourne team mates he just did not have the work ethic required. Same team mate ask Gysberts to train with him in the offseason and do all the sessions in an effort to lift his endurance and intensity in preparation for pre season. Fair to say Gysberts did not quite commit. Fair enough though. The physical workload and pain and sacrifice life of an AFL player is not for everyone. Just a shame we traded the Maclean pick for him. That remains the only trade deal that I can remember where I was when I heard about it!

You know you're a draft tragic when you schedule a hernia repair for the day before the draft so work will not distract from the more important sporting events of the day. I'm unfazed by what the Giants zone issues though it'd be interesting to see if their involvement in the Riverina has seen an increase in players drafted from that region. As a fan of the code I support the national expansion. Sure the Giants may have got overs when it comes to concessions but in the era of the code wars our game needs to be firmly established in all of the major populations centres. The Dees just have to take care of their own business which we seem to have been doing for the last 3 years. Can't believe FoxFooty is playing old matches. Where are the draft replays!

The standard of footy at the old school has certainly improved since my days patrolling the back pocket in the seconds in the 80s. Worth considering a la Hunt. Consensus on his draft night was that he was at best a rookie pick though later revealed we thought Pies might pounce late in draft.
